Daniel LaRusso is the titular Karate Kid, the protagonist of the first three films of the cult 1980s movie franchise of the same name and the secondary protagonist of its streaming television spin-off Cobra Kai.
He became the White Crane Ranger as part of a special exclusive collaboration between Hasbro and the Cobra Kai series for the Lightning Collection.
History[]
Daniel was born in New Jersey in 1967 and moved to Los Angeles in 1984 after the death of his father and his mother secured a new job to provide for both of them. At his new school, Daniel was bullied often by teenagers who knew martial arts from the Cobra Kai Dojo lead by Johnny Lawrence until an elderly Japanese man named Mr. Miyagi trained him in the Miyagi-Do style of Karate. From there, Daniel would face off in karate tournaments and win as well as stand up to the bullies and the dirty fighting dojo of Cobra Kai.
Now in his middle age, Daniel is the successful owner of a chain of car dealerships with a wife and two kids, notably his daughter Sam. He is eventually spurred into action again upon the return of the Cobra Kai dojo, reviving the late Mr. Miyagi’s legacy by creating the Miyagi-do dojo to teach kids true karate and clashing with his old rival Johnny, head of the Cobra Kai dojo. Overtime he and Johnny would end their rivalry to take on John Kreese and Terry Silver, who overthrew Johnny and took control of Cobra Kai to restore its corrupt teachings of Karate.
