Spear Pillar is a location introduced in Generation IV.
Description[]
Spear Pillar is a mostly destroyed temple at the top of Mt. Coronet in the Sinnoh region in Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version, Pokémon Platinum Version, and the remakes Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. With the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it is revealed that Spear Pillar was originally the Temple of Sinnoh, built in honor of Arceus. The Hall of Origin is located high above the Spear Pillar, and it is where Arceus resides.

Appearances[]
Core series[]
In Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version, the player must travel here where they must defeat Team Galactic's plan to control the legendary Pokémon. Upon their defeat, Team Galactic retreats and the player has the opportunity to catch Dialga or Palkia depending on the version. Barry can also heal the player's team here. Depending on the game version, an Adamant Orb (if Diamond) or Lustrous Orb (if Pearl) can be found at the back of the Spear Pillar after defeating/catching Dialga (if Diamond) or Palkia (if Pearl). If Dialga or Palkia is defeated, it respawns when the player enters the Hall of Fame.
In Pokémon Platinum Version, the player travels here to stop Team Galactic's plan to control both Dialga and Palkia. Barry can heal the player's team here, like in the previous games. After successfully calling both to the pillar a shadowy figure appears through a portal and drags Cyrus to another world. After defeating the Elite Four, the player can catch Dialga and Palkia by interacting with their portals after finding the Adamant and Lustrous Orbs.
Anime[]

Spear Pillar in the anime.

Cyrus summoning Dialga and Palkia.
The Spear Pillar first appeared in DP152: The Battle Finale of Legend! but Team Galactic searched for the entrance to the Spear Pillar in several episodes before its premiere. Like in the games, Team Galactic go here to summon Palkia and Dialga and successfully open a portal to a new world. With the help from Cynthia and the Lake Guardians, Ash and his friends broke Team Galactic's control over the Legendary Pokémon but Cyrus is pulled in before the portal closes. Shortly after, Saturn, Mars and Jupiter are arrested, thereby disbanding Team Galactic.
Crossover[]
Super Smash Bros. series[]

Spear Pillar as it appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Spear Pillar is a playable stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Dialga, Palkia, and Cresselia make cameo appearances in the background to devastate the players. It is a destructible stage, which also features a cave underneath the surface which players can brawl in. Spear Pillar can be unlocked by completing Event 25.
The Spear Pillar stage returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as one of the seven returning Pokémon Stages in the base game.
Trivia[]
- Its name and the fact that the Hall of Origin is accessed through it likely refer to the Shinto creation myth, where the god Izanagi and the goddess Izanami (whom some have speculated Dialga and Palkia were partially based on) used a spear named Amenonuhoko to stir up the primoridal sea, and when water droplets fell off the spear into the ocean, they formed the first island, Onogoroshima, upon which the two deities built a pillar known as Amenomihashira, which supported a "hall measuring eight fathoms."
