An Yu, also known as the Dragon Girl and formerly as simply, The Dragon, is one of the supporting characters of the PJ Masks series. She makes up one-tenth of the Power Heroes, which was newly formed by her, the PJ Masks, Newton Star, and Ice Cub by the end of the Season 6 episode "Heroes Everywhere." She technically made her debut in the Season 2 episode "The Dragon Gong," but in her dragon form only. Her true name and form were not revealed until the Season 3 episode "Meet An Yu." Now she must protect Mystery Mountain, along with some help from the PJ Masks! HistoryA thousand years ago, An Yu was trapped inside an ancient magic gong. The cause for this fate is currently unknown, nor is it known how long she was already the guardian of Mystery Mountain at that point. Since she turned 2,001 years old in "An Yu's Birthday," she was already 1,000 years old around the time she got trapped. In "The Dragon Gong," the Dragon Gong in which An Yu was trapped inside was moved into the museum. At that time, Night Ninja planned to use the gong in order to prevent anyone from opposing his goal of becoming the most powerful ninja. However, this was thwarted by the PJ Masks, who eventually returned the gong to the museum. Neither Night Ninja nor the PJ Masks discovered who the dragon actually was. Eventually, in "Meet An Yu," Night Ninja stole the gong a second time and brought it to The Pagoda on Mystery Mountain. Unbeknownst to him, this was exactly what An Yu needed to free herself. She escaped the gong, returned to her human form, and resumed her duties as guardian of Mystery Mountain. While initially reluctant to let the PJ Masks help her at first, she eventually allied herself with them. Physical AppearanceAs An YuIn her human form, An Yu looks like a girl about the same age as the PJ Masks and the nighttime villains. However, she is much older than them, having been trapped in the Dragon Gong for 1,000 years. It is unknown if this imprisonment halted her aging, thus explaining her apperance, or if she is ageless and will always look like a child while in her human form. An Yu has tan skin, and black hair that is tied into two hair buns. She has some light freckles in her face, though they can be hard to see. Her eyes are usually brown, but glow red when she uses her powers. Her outfit consists of a red and gold helmet with a dragon head symbol attached to the front, red fingerless gloves, a red, scale-patterned dress with gold trim decorated around it and gold armor covering, red leggings, and red boots. Starting in the Season 6 episode "The Whiff of Badness," she now wears a red mask with a gold border around it anytime the Power Heroes are called into action. As The DragonAn Yu's dragon form resembles the dragons from Chinese mythology, with red and yellow scales and red eyes. She has a long, serpentine body with dorsal fins. PersonalityAs An YuAn Yu, initially, was rather antisocial, rude and dismissive toward the PJ Masks at first, refusing any help from them and trying to keep them away from Mystery Mountain by defeating Night Ninja on her own. However, after the team aided her in defeating the ninjas, she expressed her gratitude and over time became more willing to accept outside help. She can also be strict and no-nonsense at times, but gradually learned to loosen up and be more willing to have fun. She has since come to value the PJ Masks as her closest friends and allies, and is fiercely loyal and protective towards them. Up until Season 5, An Yu did not like the world outside Mystery Mountain, and was reluctant to travel there, mainly because her powers didn't work in the outside world. Due to her long imprisonment in the dragon gong, and her rarely ever leaving Mystery Mountain, she was unfamiliar with the modern world and its customs. In the short "PJ Masks Surprise" for example, the PJ Masks had to explain to her what a party was. This began to change in "The Power of Mystery Mountain," when she found a way to retain her powers even when in the city. As of Season 6, after becoming a member of the Power Heroes, she has no issues with leaving Mystery Mountain and thus more frequently joins the other heroes in the city. As The DragonAn Yu in her dragon form is shown to be loyal and obedient to her former master (Night Ninja) when giving wishes.
