Aske Stenstrom (Alex Stenstrom in the English Dub) is the main protagonist of the 2018 Danish Animated Film Checkered Ninja and it's 2021 sequel Checkered Ninja 2. He is a 7th grader who got a ninja doll from his uncle Stewart Stardust during his birthday, which was possessed by the spirit of the ninja Taiko Nakamura. The two would later become friends and he would help him in stopping the child murderer Philip Eberfroe.

He is voiced by Alfred Bjerre Larsen in the Danish Version, and by Cameron Simpson in the English Dub.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

• Unlike Taiko, Aske never uses lethal methods against his enemies, and refuses to kill anyone or leave someone to die, regardless of how bad they are.
• He protected his friend Odysseus from their bullies by telling him to go away before they heard that Odysseus called one of them, Glenn, a dumbass.
• He stopped Taiko from killing Philip Eberfroe.
• While he initially was uninterested in helping Taiko stop Philip (although partially because he didn't want to kill him), he eventually grows to care about the people around him and comes to understand that if he doesn't help people, nobody else will.
• He refused to tell Taiko when Philip's plane to Thailand was leaving, even being willing to give his life so he wouldn't help Taiko kill someone no matter how evil Philip is.
• He saved Sune from being killed by Taiko, in spite of how Sune treated him.
• He convinced Taiko to help him in incriminating Philip of smuggling cocaine instead of killing him, which lead to Philip's arrest and ending his use of child labor in his factory.
• He and Taiko got Scooter Scotty arrested for his selling of cocaine.
• He gave Taiko a small cardboard roll so Taiko could put his sword in his back as a way to thank for all of the help he gave him.
• He decided to become a vigilante to protect his neighbourhood.
• He stopped a man who was stealing bags throught his neighbourhood.
• He stopped a group of teenagers from beating up a kid.
• He covers up an offensive Nazi graffiti and paints his own sign in its place.
• He gets Taiko the new ninja doll his mother made so he wouldn't die from alergy while possessing a hedgehog.
• He decided to spend his vacation on Thailand rather than anywhere else so he and Taiko could be able to stop Philip during it.
• He bought a small sword so Taiko could use it under the promise that he wouldn't kill anyone.
• He helped Jasper lift up his gas recempient after Jasper accidentally hit Aske.
• He stopped Taiko from attacking Sune when the latter found out about Taiko being a posessed ninja doll.
• Despite his betrayal, Aske still chose to save Jasper from dying in the storage room.
• He saved Taiko from falling out of the scooter they were using to try to go stop Philip.
• He gave Taiko one of his eyes back, although he was unable to give the other as one of Carsten's thugs caused him to accidentaly lose it.
• He protected Honey Bee from Philip despite knowing Philip would kill him for it.
• Despite everything Philip did, Aske was still reluctant to shoot him even when it was clear he was going to attack him.
• His actions saved the kids from being killed by Philip and his associates.
• He made a new ninja doll so Taiko could posess in case he ever wanted to use a new body.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

• While he subverted most of his corrupting factors, he still has a jerkish moment when he confronted Taiko for leaving him for dead and tells him that if he didn't know where the children were nor where Philip was going, he would have failed the ten children that were going to get killed by Philip just like he failed him and the children he failed to protect when he was a mortal, which Taiko even notes was extremely cold, before leaving him in the hotel's balcony despite knowing it was going to rain. However, this is somewhat understandable since Taiko almost got him killed and showed no remorse for it, and he gets better with Taiko after this.

Trivia[]

• While Aske is currently Near Pure Good, this may change once the third film comes out, which will follow Aske in trying to spend time with his friends and becoming tired of doing ninja missions, with Taiko later helping him out.
