See Nova for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

Nova was Human woman, a lieutenant who served in the operations division aboard the USS Enterprise in the 2260s. She was a pilot and engineer.

History[]

When the Enterprise entered a subspace parallel universe where the laws of physics were somewhat different, Nova was assigned to pilot a repair pod outside the hangar deck to retrieve a mysterious capsule. By the time James T. Kirk and Spock had arrived in the shuttle bay to join her, Nova had diagnosed that magnetic lines of force within the repair pod's power packs were dead. Spock theorized that in this region, if she wore a cybernetic helmet, her thoughts would be enough to power the vehicle. This worked, and the three retrieved the capsule.

Later, when a USS Enterprise decoy attacked the sluggish Enterprise, Kirk asked her to wear the helmet on the bridge. By holding hands with other crew to extend the reach of her thoughts, she was able to increase the ship's maneuverability. After the decoy had disappeared, she used the helmet to return the Enterprise to the prime universe. (TOS comic: "The Choice")
