A dog who kept waiting for his master in Shibuya, huh? A noble and loyal friend to the end... I have to admit that this story moves me. Can't you feel its gentle warmth in your heart?
Etymology[]
The story of Buchiko (ブチ公*)? is a direct reference to the real story of Hachikō (ハチ公*)?, a dog that waited on the train station for years for its owner to return, without realizing that they've died during their commute to work. The Japanese name of the book may be a reference to the film Hachikō Monogatari.
Trivia[]
Buchiko's Story isn't the only reference to Hachikō in the series. In Persona 4 Golden, the protagonist may watch the movie called Dachiko Story, which might specifically be a reference to the film Hachikō Monogatari, which is also based on Hachikō. Additionally, Koromaru from Persona 3 himself is a Hachikō reference in character.
