- "While standing, press Special Attack button. Shoot an intense crescent-shaped wave from your saber!"
- ―In-game text, Mega Man X7
Hadangeki (波断撃 lit. "Wave Sever Attack") is the special technique that Zero learns after defeating Vanishing Gungaroo in Mega Man X7. Pressing the special attack button while standing still will cause Zero to perform a heavy overhead slash that unleashes a powerful yellow wave of energy that travels about half the screen's width. This attack is useful for clearing out swarms of small weak enemies.
This attack is Soldier Stonekong and Red's weakness.
Other appearances[]
- In Mega Man X DiVE, Zero can release Hadangeki during Ryuenjin if the Player equips the Skill Card of same name.
Fighting games[]
Hadangeki appears in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars and Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds as one of Zero's Special Moves. It emits a green cutter, similar to Zero's saber attack as a boss in Mega Man X2 and later X5. The light version travels the lowest, while the medium version travels faster. The heavy version fires two combined in a X fashion to deal more damage, but does not travel any faster than the medium version in comparison.
The command in TvC was a charge motion (Hold B, F+Atk), while in MvC3 it is a traditional QCF motion for projectiles instead (QCF+Atk). The waves are also colored green as well, and instead of a slamming slash, Zero slashes outward and downward into a lean forward to fire the wave; the heavy version has him immediately followup that said motion with a returning-lift slash.
In Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Zero due to the button scheme changes now only has 2 versions of the attack (the single wave version mapped to LP and the double-wave version mapped to HP). He can also release a max Hyper Zero Blaster charge during the Hadangeki to perform a Rakuhouha.
Uniquely, in its Vs. Capcom appearances, the Japanese in-game movelists write the kanji as 破断撃 ("Blast Sever Attack") instead.
