Synopsis for "Family Matters: Part Four"
In the midst of the skirmish between the Kree Imperial Militia and the Skrull Army battalion, Captain America assures a mortally wounded Patriot that he will not let Teddy be taken. Sentry takes Patriot to the hospital as the Young Avengers help to subdue the Kree and Skrull soldiers, but warships of both armies arrive overhead moments later, and Teddy orders both teams to assemble.
Stature helps Spider-Man fend off a platoon of Skrulls, while Hawkeye and Spider-Woman fight against several Kree warriors. Tommy impresses Wolverine with his powers and his viciousness, and Wiccan explains to Captain America that he and Tommy are, in fact, the lost twin sons of the Scarlet Witch.
Vision tells Iron Man that he will join the Young Avengers if he is not permitted to join the New Avengers, and Teddy explains to Luke Cage that while the Kree and the Skrull may be fighting over him, he intends to end their war himself rather than help either side win it.
Moments later, Teddy is captured by Kree Militiamen, but Kl'rt orders the Skrull to hold their fire in order to avoid shooting Teddy. They refuse, and Kl'rt attempts to rescue Teddy himself, insisting that the only way to protect the Earth is for Teddy to take up the Skrull throne and lead the war against the Kree. Teddy formulates a plan of his own, and offers to spend six Earth-months with each culture, while making regular visits back to Earth, before deciding who to swear his allegiance to. Teddy says his goodbyes to the team, and leaves with the Skrull.
Moments later, however, Wolverine reveals that "Teddy" is actually the Super-Skrull in diguise, while the "Super-Skrull" still on Earth with the Avengers is actually Teddy in disguise. Both teams then rush to the Lenox Hill Hospital to check on Eli, meeting up with Jessica Jones, who explains that Eli lost so much blood that he required a transfusion, which his grandfather provided.
Outside, Captain America implores the Young Avengers to give up the superhero life, but Kate insists that "chasing down bad guys" is their natures, just as it is part of the nature of every member of the Avengers, and she suggests that the New Avengers can best protect them by simply accepting them.
At the former Avengers Mansion, Wiccan and Stature repair the statuary garden, adding an effigy of Scott Lang. Kate explains to Jessica that the Young Avengers offered Tommy a spot on the team, but he declined, and Jessica gives Clint Barton's bow and arrows to Kate, insisting that she adopt Barton's former code-name of Hawkeye. After the reconstruction is complete, the Young Avengers hold an emotional memorial service for Teddy's adoptive mother.
After the memorial service, the team discusses what to do next, and Wiccan suggests trying to find the Scarlet Witch, claiming that Wanda only lost control of her powers because she thought that her sons were dead. The conversation is interrupted by a hyper-kinetic explosion on the East River and the sudden arrival of Tommy in his Young Avengers uniform, identifying himself by his code-name of "Speed." He informs the team that he just blew up the United Nations Headquarters building because it had been taken hostage by a team of supervillains known as "The Zodiac," and the teenagers bicker amongst themselves even as they rush into action.
