History
A valuable member of S.H.I.E.L.D., Maria Hill would often brief superheroes on their current missions and the locations they involved.[1][2]
Chitauri Invasion[]
Evacuation of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Base[]
Arriving on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Base with Director Fury during an evacuation, , the duo freed Coulson, who breifed them on the Tesseract having been activated. Commandeering an impounded S.H.E.I.L.D. 4x4, the three made their way inside. As Fury went to inspect the Tesseract, he sent Hill to take care of the Phase 2 protoypes. As Hill and Williams were passed by Hawkeye, Loki and Selvig, Fury informed Hill over the comms of Barton being compromised. Hill and Williams pursued Loki and his forces after repairing and modifying a S.H.I.E.L.D. 4x4, with Hill driving and Williams gunning. However, they were unsuccessful and Loki was able to escape.
Attack on the Helicarrier[]
Following the S.H.I.E.L.D. Base incident, Hill took up her post on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, carrying out executive officer duties on the bridge. It was here that she was thrown into combat once again when Agent Barton, under hypnotic control, led a daring commando assault on the carrier. She narrowly escaped serious injury when a live grenade detonating near her heralded the attackers reaching the bridge, and opened fire on the attackers in reply. She and Nick Fury were able to ward off a bainwashed Hawkeye, forcing him down to the detention level whereupon he was knocked out and freed of Loki's mind control by Black Widow. After surviving the bridge attack, Hill proceeded to help coordinate further operations on the carrier, but there was little more that she could do with a crippled ship.
Battle of New York[]
Upon the world council deciding to nuke Manhattan, Hill informed Fury of the circumstances.[2]
Cosmic Brick Crisis[]
Upon various Cosmic Bricks falling to Earth, Nick Fury ordered Hill to send out a research sub and order Shawarma.
Later, when Loki controlled Galactus and attempted to destroy the earth, Maria Hill worked on redirecting incoming calls to S.H.I.E.L.D. Eventually, the combined might of Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Villains defeated Galactus and the earth was saved.[1]
S.H.I.E.L.D. Hellicarrier Grand Prix[]
Working on an alternate use for S.H.I.E.L.D.'s forcefield projectors, Hill managed to create race tracks projected onto the air, calibrating the power fluctuations so any cars racing on them should be unable to fall. Hill tested them out with a race, which she lost, but was still happy in the face of a successful test.
Whilst preparing the next race, the Hellicarrier was attacked by the forces of A.I.M.. With some outside help, Hill was able to defeat the soldiers and continue work on her next race.
Having finished the last round of what she referred to as the "S.H.I.E.L.D. Hellicarrier Grand Prix", Hill devised a trickier race. Hill lost against her opponent and rewarded them with her character token, as S.H.I.E.L.D. did not have the budget for a cup.[1]
Fall of S.H.I.E.L.D.[]
She, along with Nicky Fury, led a plan to stop Project Insight from being realized. After that, S.H.I.E.L.D. ceases to exist, causing Maria to get a new Avengers job.[2]
Age Of Ultron[]
The Avengers, who had been searching for the scepter for some time, attacked Baron Strucker's base and returned to Avengers Tower jubilant with their success. Shortly after, Hill briefed Captain America on Strucker's capture and the background of the twins. Hill was invited to their victory party, helping Stark entertain the guests, and remained late into the night after most of the other guests had gone home. The party was interrupted by the surprise arrival of one of Stark's Iron Legion robots, which admitted that it had been the result of mixing the scepter with Stark's Ultron program. The robot, and several more like it, then promptly attacked the small group. Hill helped return Captain America and Iron Man's equipment with Hawkeye before Thor destroyed Ultron's body with Mjolnir, only for Ultron's consciousness to escape and his forces to escape with the scepter.
In the following days, news of the Ultron robots emerged from all over the world. The threat they posed led Nick Fury to leave the safe house and contact Hill. Together, they gathered a number of former and current S.H.I.E.L.D. employees, this they flew with a Helicarrier to Sokovia to support the Avengers in a final showdown against Ultron's robotic force and evacuate civilians. After Ultron's defeat, she then turned her attention to establishing a new Avengers base in upstate New York.[2]Notes
- Danielle Nicolet is the voice of Maria Hill in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. Cobie Smulders is the voice in LEGO Marvel's Avengers.
- Unlike most of the characters in Story Mode, Cobie Smulders actually voiced Maria Hill in LEGO Marvel's Avengers instead of an audio archive, being one of the only characters in which the original actor voiced the character, along with Phill Coulson and Agent Carter.
Trivia
- According to Phil Coulson, Hill made a calendar with pictures of her favorite pizzas.[2]
- Hill does not seem to be initially aware of the true nature of Phil Coulson's sacrifice, with her making a passionate vow to avenge him.[2]
