History

The Leviagod, also known as the Dark One, the God Below, the Undergod, was a giant god.

Using avalanches in the mountains of Ghulistan, sand pits in the desert of Kara Korum, earthquakes in the Himelians, caves in the Hyrkanian Mountains.

People trapped in the belly of the Undergod were eventually (sometimes after years) turned into the Leech-Men, mindless slaves devoted to protecting the caves of the Undergod. The sane humans were assaulted by Leech-Men, deceased entrapped people manifesting as memories. The Undergod also clouded their minds, causing memory losses.

Born there, the White Witch, the Lady Liv, guided the entrapped travelers, as her "people".

Conan was trapped in an avalanche in the mountains of Ghulistan. He was saved by the White Witch and people, and he agreed to help them slay the Undergod. To Conan, the Leech-Men took the form of Thak, the Frost Giant brothers of Atali, Ghost Snakes, Sschaaronn, the Man-Serpent, the Dragon of Xuchotl, the snake-faced children of Set, the man-eating spiders of Zamora, the deformed Sea Beasts from the Ship of the Deed, Yag-Kosha, the Swamp Devil child of Jhebbal Sag, the winged horror that slew Bêlit, and the Night-Cult.

Finally, the group arrived at the Grotto of Blood. There, Conan had to defeat a foe unknown to him, Razazel. Conan defeated Razazel by drowning him in the Undergod's blood, killed the Leviagod in the process, and causing to burst out of the mountain, and letting free the entrapped people.[1]

Attributes

Powers

The Leviagod had many powers over the mind of people:

  • He could enter the mind of people, learning their truth.
  • He could exploit the memories of one to have his Leech-Men appears as foes from the past.
  • He could cloud one's mind, causing memory losses of recent events.
  • People trapped in the belly of the Undergod would eventually be consumed, turned into the Leech-Men, mindless slaves devoted to protecting the caves of the Undergod.[1]

Notes

  • The Leviagod's origin is unknown. Two of his titles, "the Undergod" and "the Dark One" might be indication of his classification:
    • It is unclear whether "Undergod" refers to a clear category of beings (see the Undergods' page). The Leviagod is also named "the God Below", which has a somewhat similar meaning than "Undergod".
    • "Dark Ones" is one of the many names of the Old Ones, but that name has also been used by or for various beings, including other eldritch gods.
