Groot (Earth-17628)

Groot's homeworld was firebombed by Ronan, destroying the entire surface of the planet and all life but one Flora colossi.^{[citation needed]} Groot later became a friend of Rocket after the latter gave him water. The two then broke out of the laboratory in which they were being kept.^{[citation needed]} Both of them later joined the Guardians of the Galaxy.^{[citation needed]}

An encounter with the meteor had infected Groot with fungus, turning him into a giant.^[4]

Later, Rocket had created up a formula that made Groot grow a full head of leaves.^[5]
