Ninja Hideaway is a track that first appears in Mario Kart Tour as of the Ninja Tour. The course is based on a Japanese Dojo, named "Ninja Manor", and has you drive through and around the Dojo.

This track reappears as a retro track in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass DLC, as the fourth and last track of the Lucky Cat Cup.

Layout[]

Mario Kart Tour[]

You start out on part of the rooftop for the Manor, where you then head onto a red bridge toward the Manor. Once inside, you take a right, then eventually left into an area where you are presented with two optional routes, one will take you upstairs, while the other continues down through the bottom floor. Taking the upstairs route will lead onto a narrow platform where it eventually leads you into an area filled with coins. Choosing the bottom path will lead you through an area with falling shuriken traps, with Item Boxes in between the shurikens. You then take a turn left into a hallway with some ninja Shy Guys, who periodically transform into bananas.

Nextly, all routes eventually end up leading into a large glider section, where there are more ninja Shy Guys, of which are flying on kites. There is also a few bamboo windpipes just after the gliding ninja Shy Guys, which you are able to get a trick off of in order to gain some air. You are then sent toward a pagoda, where you are presented with yet another two alternate paths, one above and one below. The path below will proceed to take you onto a red carpet, that leads you into a small sewer system, which will then take you out onto part of the rooftop of the manor. Likewise, The top route takes a similar path, however, you have to attempt a landing on one of the few small floorboards, which will then take onto a grated pathway, which will eventually lead you out of the pagoda. The upper route takes you onto a grated path above the rooftop, where a few pinwheels produce wind in order to keep you on the path. Both paths take a left where they eventually meet up on a singular path, which then takes a right toward the finish. Just before the end of the lap, there is a glider ramp that provides the option to go on an upper path, which generally takes you on the same route as the one below, but you are only able to take the platform path unless you decide to drop down to the bottom route.

MK8-Course-Tour NinjaHideaway

The track in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

This track returns in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the final track of the Lucky Cat Cup. Its layout is directly lifted from the version in Tour, but with higher resolution textures and lighting. Much of the track is the same, although some new features were added such as two fish statues being added atop the pagoda, and the pond near the entrance of the Manor can now be tricked off of.

Enemies/Obstacles[]

  • Bananas
  • Flying Shy Guys
  • Ninja Shy Guys
  • Pirahna Plant cutouts
  • Shuriken elevators

Shortcuts[]

  • There is a shortcut present just before exiting the bottom path with falling shuriken traps, of which is guarded by two Piranha Plant cutouts. You can use a mushroom, any destructive item, or a power item in order to take this shortcut, although in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version of the track it is possible to take it without any items, by just going near the wall. Taking this shortcut will lead to an alternate path with a glider ramp at the end, which will save a sizeable amount of time. for all games
  • Just before the entrance into the Manor, there is a pond you can trick off of, and if you have the correct angle it will save a small amount of time. for MK8
  • On 200cc, if you take the upper grated path near the end, you could trick off the end of it and potentially land on the rooftop just before the Finish Line if you have a good angle. for MK8

Trivia![]

  • For some reason, in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe this is the only Tour track of the first wave to not have "Tour" at the beginning of the track name, being labeled as just "Ninja Hideaway", rather than “Tour Ninja Hideaway”.
    • It's possible that this track was made for both games at the same time but ended up in Tour first, thus being considered a "new" track, however the courses internal name “MobNM” could disprove this.
    • This is also the case with every other Non-City Tour track in the Booster Course Pass.
  • This tracks appearance in the Lucky Cat Cup marks the first time two tracks from the same game appear in the same cup, the other Tour track being Tour Tokyo Blur.
