Pike Guys are a more aggressive variety of Spear Guy appearing in Yoshi's Island DS, they are commonly found in Jungle levels alongside the Spear Guys and Dancing Spear Guys however, they mainly attack by poking their spears out causing damage to anyone that walks by, cleverly, they are seen attacking in small niches making reaching them slightly more difficult requiring different maneuvers to do so.
History[]
Yoshi's Island DS[]
Pike Guys are first seen in Yoshi's Island DS, in this game, they behave similarly to the Spear Guys however unlike them, they actually use their Spears in combat rather than the spears being merely used as a defense mechanism. This however leaves their heads vulnerable to jump attacks, due to this, they are commonly seen attacking from small niches where Yoshi can't reach (or even kill) them without taking damage, they can be killed with accurate egg throws (this is far easier if Baby Donkey Kong is used as his egg-throws explode on impact), Pike Guys attack by poking their spears forward periodically, they will usually pull their spear back ever so slightly before attacking. In the Museum, Pike Guys appear in the Shy Guy Exhibit in the same sector as the Spear Guys however to earn the Pike Guys, they will need to be egg-tossed separately as they are classed as different enemies to the Spear Guys and thus won't appear if the normal Spear Guys are hit instead and vice versa. Pike Guys can also be found in some closed off an inaccessible areas found throughout the latter parts of the game.
Pike Guys appear in Spear Guys' Village Found, Welcome to Yoshi Tower!, Moving Statues, Standing Statues, and Hurry and Throw!.
Trivia[]
- Most Pike Guys have a tendency to turn around whenever Yoshi jumps over them however, there are some in closed-off areas that continue to face their starting direction even if Yoshi is technically behind them.
