Hen is Wario's beloved pet who first appeared in Wario Land II. He values the Hen more than anything else, even treasure.

Physical description[]

The Hen does not bear much physical difference from real-world hens, although she has long eyelashes to indicate that she is female.

Behavior[]

The Hen is described in the the Wario Land II manual as being non-hostile when Wario states that she "wouldn't hurt a flea," and urges the reader to be nice to her. The Hen is easily scared, as she flies off when the Pirate Gooms approached her, and during one part of Wario Land II, the Hen tries to fly away as Wario tries to return her to her nest as they pass by several aggressive Roosters.

In Wario Land II[]

Hen is first featured in the SS Tea Cup's second story, Return the hen to her nest. In a cutscene prior to the level, the Hen is scared from her nest by the Pirate Gooms stealing Wario's treasure. At first, Wario is going after his treasure, but when Wario sees his Hen fly away, he temporarily changes course to go rescue his Hen so that he can return her safely. One part of the stage involves Wario finding his Hen while delivering her to her nest, and the other part involves him returning his Hen there. As Wario tries to return the Hen to her nest, she tries to escape as Roosters and other enemies go after them. The Roosters are protective over the Hen, as they specifically go over to attack Wario whenever he holds the Rooster.

Back at the nest, the Hen lays an egg, and the level is completed.

In Game & Watch Gallery 4[]

Hen appears in the Modern version of Fire Attack. Here, Hen climbs the stairs into Wario's house. If Wario stands behind Hen, she lays an egg worth five points, but if Wario attacks the Hen, just as he must do to the Bob-ombs climbing the steps, the Hen does not reward any points.
