~ Darius to Hunter on finally making his own decisions |
Darius Deamonne is a supporting character in Disney Channel animated series The Owl House. He is one of the Nine Coven Heads, leading the Abomination Coven, as well as a rival to Odalia and Alador Blight. He is secretly one of the heads of the rebellion against Emperor Belos upon having found the Day of Unity suspicious. He was also the pupil of Hunter's predecessor as the Golden Guard, and eventually becomes Hunter's adoptive father.
He is voiced by Keston John.
What Makes Him Magnificent?[]
- He is a genuine extremist who seeks to end Belos' reign of tyranny.
- He was one of the earliest people to have picked up on how suspicious the Day of Unity sounded, implied to be the result of him knowing the truth of his mentor's death at Belos' hands to a certain extent, and has been spearheading the rebellion in secret while publicly donning the act of smug and flamboyant loyalist to throw everyone off-guard at his real allegiance. Even upon being outed, nobody actually expected him to be a traitor.
- When the Bards Against the Throne began spreading propaganda against the Day of unity and Emperor Belos, Darius predicted one of them was also a fellow traitorous Coven Head, who turned out to be Raine Whispers, Head of the Bard Coven.
- He set up a trap for the BATs and captured Raine Whispers, using his status as their capturer to save Raine from being brainwashed into loyalty to Belos and got their team out to secretly form a coalition to deal with the Day of Unity in secret.
- On the side, he became a stealth mentor to Hunter, the current Golden Guard, and sow seeds of dissent against Belos in him so he can be more independent and be more able to make decisions for himself.
- He attempted to invade Belos' mind to figure more out of the Day of Unity, and when this caused Hunter and Luz to be trapped inside, he secretly helped Eda get them out by giving her the counterspell behind her back.
- He deduced the Day of Unity had a Draining Spell that would wipe out all life in the Isles and took advantage over Eda's curse to corrupt it.
- Rescued Eda and Luz when they got caught by Coven Scouts during their prison transport, and at same time found and recruited King, Lilith, Hooty and Steve, who were away from them at time.
- Darius's efforts were why the rebellion got as far as they did, in which his grand plan to disrupt the spell by disguising Eda as Raine was foiled due to a last minute change in arrangement giving her away, while his attempt to disrupt the ritual by force being foiled by him standing down when Eberwolf's life was threatened.
- Even after being out of commission, Darius’ actions were ultimately the groundwork that enabled heroes to stop the Draining Spell when King freed Collector.
- He decided to take in Hunter and adopt him when he felt he will be unneeded in the Isles anymore and give him a place.
- He put his differences with Alador aside to perfect technology needed to finally abolish the Coven system, bringing a greater era of magic and freedom to the Isles as a result.
What Makes Him a Baddie?[]
- Even if him being evil was an act, many of the acts like attacking Raine or attempting to slice Willow Park in the face before Hunter saved her were actually genuine.
- His original plan to get Eda to corrupt the spell was to unleash a swarm of flesh-eating beetles onto everyone as a distraction, apathetic to potential casualties in the crossfire.
