~ Black Cat breaking into the Vault |
Felicia Hardy, also known as Black Cat, is a recurring character in the 2008 superhero animated series, The Spectacular Spider-Man. She is a highly skilled teenage thief who genuinely loves Spider-Man and becomes an ally of his. She is later revealed to be the daughter of Walter Hardy, also known as the Cat Burglar, the man who murdered Ben Parker.
She was voiced by Tricia Hefler.
What Makes Her Magnificent?[]
- She is a highly skilled thief who effortlessly breaks into high security buildings with ease to steal valuable items. Greatest example is in her minor appearance in "Accomplices" who danced through a laser hallway and uses the stolen fingerprints of the owner to steal a valuable microchip before it goes into auction.
- She is genuinely in love with Spider-Man and allies with him whenever he needs to be saved, rushing in to save him from rioting prisoners or clearing out his name, and through her charm, the feeling is mutual, as they toss flirtatious banter at each other that Spider-man wants to encounter again, which is not the case with nearly every other villain in the series.
- She is effective in combat, having managed to beat up multiple of the Chameleon's goons, even punching one even as she is blindsided by a smoke bomb.
- While battling the Chameleon's goons, she uses it as a cover up to steal the Mayor's tiger necklace without even a single person noticing her.
- She does know her limits and acts sensible to not steal an item of great value if it will bring some huge repercussions, such as the microchip she nearly stole before it goes to auction upon seeing high profile buyers like Hammerhead, Doctor Octopus and Silvermane, knowing the chip isn't worth getting on their bad side and quickly leaves with nobody even noticing.
- Faking the identity of Selina Drew through a very clever disguise, Black Cat effortlessly breaks into the Vault, the prison the father she cares about is in.
- She had a very skilled plan to quell a prison riot, manipulating Spider-Man to stay behind while she and her father escape, nearly breaking him out of prison, to use the prison's reserves of knockout gas to knock them all out while leaving time for Spider-Man to escape tthe prison himself. Only reason it failed is because Walter offered to stay behind himself.
- Even as she is clearly distraught and mad at Spider-Man for why her father will spend the rest of his life on prison, when she notices the Green Goblin fighting Spider-Man, she rushes in to save his life and scare of the Goblin.
- She manages to get away with all of her crimes by the end.
What Makes Her a Baddie?[]
- She is a thief who mostly steals for the thrill and money, stealign the Mayor's tiger necklace out of sheer greed.
- She attempted to break her father out of prison, showing no reaction or care he hasn't completed his time for murdering an innocent man, or that he murdered an innocent man, who just so happens to be the uncle of her love interest. To show how bad it is, her father himself feels immense remorse for killing Uncle Ben and wanted to atone to Spider-Man for it. She then proceeds to unfairly blame Spider-Man by saying it's his fault her father will stay in prison for the rest of his life.
