Plot[]

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

In a dark forest in the Wyldness, Lord Ras and Jordana are traveling together, with Jordana expressing surprise at the terrain due to what she was told of the Wyldness growing up in Imperium. Ras notes contemptuously that Imperium is ignorant of the full scope of his home realm. The two then arrive at an ominous looking temple, which they are able to open using some of the Source Dragon energy Jordana harvested previously. Ras explains that the temple was sealed centuries ago, and that now he will be able to make use of its secrets.

The two enter the structure, and Ras anticipates unlocking its full power at the advent of "the Blood Moon." Elsewhere, the Ninja appear on social media dealing with various threats to the Crossroads, from the Mechanic to fires and from cats (and Fugi-Dove) stuck in trees to an out of control Lobbo on the street. The team, including a now much larger Riyu, prove more than capable of dealing with the task. However, as online commentator Intelligent George points out, several members of the team remain missing. Arin's viewing of George's videos is interrupted by Sora, now in full control of her Elemental Powers, a fact that leaves Arin feeling despondent along with the continued absence of his parents.

The two friends and Riyu decide to go practice on the training course, much to the dismay of Mr. Frohicky in his ongoing efforts to maintain the Monastery of Spinjitzu. He hands off a note from Kreel, who is surprisingly asking them for help. Even more surprising, the three friends find Lloyd sleeping on the training course. He later ends up sleepwalking in on Kai and Zane, who are playing video games, and they quickly determine that Lloyd is overtired, though he tries to brush it off.

As it turns out, Lloyd's sleep has been disturbed by recurring visions that include his friends, the Source Dragons, mysterious masked warriors, what appears to be Empress Beatrix, and above all an ominous red moon. Waking from the latest of these, Lloyd goes to visit Master Wu's portrait in the courtyard and is then approached by Arin. At Arin's urging, Lloyd finally admits to what he's been going through. Arin, believing the visions may simply be the result of stress, tries to encourage Lloyd, both of them failing to notice a glowing golden form nearby.

Back at the temple, Ras and Jordana examine the contents of the temple, and are then joined by a figure Ras introduces as "another of [his] recruits." The next day, Arin, Sora, and Riyu visit Kreel's junkyard, and she explains that someone has been breaking into her facility. Sora is skeptical when Kreel notes that nothing has actually been stolen, but Arin wonders if it might be tied to the Night Ghost, a mysterious figure Intelligent George has discussed on his show. Sora is even more skeptical, until Kreel comments that her business isn't the only one to suffer from mysterious intrusions.

Sora soon determines that, although Intelligent George's theories are dubious-as usual-he and Kreel are both right about the strange break-ins. She then decides that she, Arin, and Riyu can investigate by themselves, not wanting to bother the exhausted Lloyd. They visit a number of shops but can find no information, but then discover that a new antique shop-just the sort of establishment the Night Ghost has been targeting-has opened. As the three stake out the joint that night, Arin once again becomes frustrated over his lack of elemental powers and his inability to control his talent for imbuing objects with Spinjitzu.

Arin and Sora then spot a mysterious figure and are shocked when he turns out to be the Elemental Master of Smoke. Lloyd, waking from a uneasy sleep, learns of the trio's absence from Mr. Frohicky. Arin, Sora, and Riyu go to confront the burglar as he emerges from the shop with a strange mallet, only for several masked figures to appear alongside him. They soon learn that the thief is in league with Lord Ras and attempt to thwart the villains. Fortunately, Lloyd arrives to join the fight, but is dazed upon recognizing the masked figures from his vision.

The villains are able to escape as a result, and Lloyd begins crying out in fear about the coming of the Blood Moon. Back at the temple, the new Master of Smoke presents the mallet to Lord Ras in front of an army of masked warriors and Jordana. Ras then uses the mallet to strike a gong from within the temple, claiming that it will grant his followers power. A wave of energy erupts from the gong and causes the masked warriors to begin glowing, apparently confirming Ras' words...
