Shun Sui Ju, also known as "The Orphan of the North", is a General of the Zhao Military and leader of the the Shun Sui Ju Army, one of the two main armies for the Ri Boku Army and a direct force under Great General Ri Boku, the leader of the Three Great Heavens and Commander-in-Chief of the Zhao Military.
He serves as one of Ri Boku's right hands and close advisors amongst his vassals since their days of fighting against the Northern Horsemen Tribes in Ganmon years ago.
Appearance[]
Shun Sui Ju has short silver hair and a perpetually frowning expression. He wears light robes under normal circumstances, but during battles, he dons heavy, ornamented armor adorned with two wolves as an emblem on the chest. His face is almost always calm, reflecting his composed demeanor.
Personality[]
Shun Sui Ju is a calm and respectful man, particularly toward those of higher rank. He is highly intelligent and shows unwavering loyalty to his lord, Ri Boku, following orders without question. Despite his generally aloof nature, Shun Sui Ju can be surprisingly bold and flashy. He made a dramatic entrance during the Battle for Ryouryou, personally challenging Yo Tan Wa, and engaged in notable conversations with the late king of the Quanrong, Rozo.
Though he often maintains a calm demeanor, Shun Sui Ju is capable of intense emotions. For example, upon hearing the news of Ri Boku’s arrest and imprisonment in the capital of Kantan, he was so enraged that he nearly killed the messenger. His anger was directed at the idiocy of King Tou Jou of Zhao, and he vowed to save his lord, even if it meant committing regicide and treason.
History[]
Not much is currently known about Shun Sui Ju's overall life aside from a connection to the Northern Horsemen Tribes of the north as he is able to fluently speak their language.

Western Zhao Invasion Arc[]
Shun Sui Ju is with his lord and his other vassals as they were in a war council with Ki Sui and Ba Tei of Rigan. After receiving reports of the Qin army moving towards their territory, he leaves to gather information regarding the front lines and to keep tabs on the Qin's military actions for Ri Boku.
He is later appointed the Commander-in-Chief of the Zhao forces and became Rozo's adviser and tactician in the Quanrong's battle against Yo Tan Wa Army in Battle of Ryouyou. On the 9th day, he was seen with Rozo giving chase to the retreating Yo Tan Wa Army with Kou Son Ryuu.
On the 10th day, after he received news that Ryouyou was under attack from Enshu Tribe, he retreated with the Zhao army, leaving Rozo and his personal army to deal with the remaining Mountain Tribes. But after arriving around the morning, he bore witness to the captured city of Ryouyou baring the flags of the Mountain Tribes along with Enpo and his tribe standing on the walls of the city cheering. Later on, he is told by an old warrior of the Quanrong that they have decided to join hands with Yo Tan Wa and the Mountain tribes as they viewed her to a liberator rather than a conqueror, he was warned that if he goes to Gyou, he will face their wraith, and they let him, and the remaining Zhao army fall back.
After falling back, he goes back to Retsubi to fortified it, sealing the only escape route left available for the Qin. After the 18th day of the campaign for Gyou, he is seen again with the guardian deity of the royal capital, Ko Chou as they try to prevent the Qin from resupplying their exhausted armies with food rations. He snapped and nearly killed the messenger when hearing the news about Ri Boku's imprisonment, decides to return to Kantan with Ko Chou.
Zhao Crisis Arc[]
Months later, Shun Sui Ju along with Kaine, and other Ri Boku loyalists launched a series of attacks against king Tou Jou and Kaku Kai's faction in order to rescue Ri Boku from imprisonment and save him from being executed. After Ri Boku is chased out of Kantan and Prince Ka is rendered powerless, Shun Sui Ju boldly suggest that they could install Ri Boku as the king of Zhao, but the Great Heaven rejects the sheer idea of it.
Battle of Eikyuu Arc[]
When Ri Boku returns from his exile Ba Nan Ji leaves Seika city with him and joins the frontlines.[2]
Zhao's Retaliation Arc[]
Shun Sui Ju was appointed the Commander-in-Chief during the Siege of Atsuyo. He implemented a sacrificial strategy for the soldiers to leap off the edge after getting gruesomely wounded by the Qin soldiers. With this bloodcurdling tactic, the Zhao soldiers cause a great number of casualties against the Ou Sen Army and their own ranks. When Ko Haku Kou was getting ready to make a sacrificial charge, Shun Sui Ju was against it, but eventually agreed with the condition that Ko Haku Kou would fall back if things didn't go as planned. Later he escapes the city by an underground tunnel and meets with Ko Haku Kou. They both return to Gian in order to follow Ri Boku into battle and prepare.
During Kan Ki's ambush at Hika, he faced off against Gaku Ka Army. At first, he tries to break through them at all costs, but when he sees Duke Ko Haku's army moving he decides to leave it to them and focus on Mou Ten and the Gaku Ka instead.
Hango Campaign Arc[]
During the Battle of Hango, Shun Sui Ju is placed on the right wing alongside Ba Nan Ji, Ba Fuu Ji and Kotsu Min Haku. His army faces against forces of Ba Jio, Shunmen and Tajifu. After Ou Sen Army is destroyed, he receives the news and orders the pursue of retreating Qin forces.
Three Pillars Arc[]
Shun Sui Ju had anticipated that Han would be Qin's target, as they no longer had the means to bring down Zhao or Wei despite their new military strength. He also anticipated Ri Boku's order to continue training Bu’an's army and to keep an eye on Qin's movement in anticipation of Zhao's intervention despite the Gaku Ka Army on the way.[3] He discusses the situation with Ba Nan Ji, Ba Fuu Ji and Kaine inside Buan Castle and decides that if Han comes close to destruction then they will send their army to break through the Gaku Ka and aid them.
Conquest of Han Arc[]
Shun Sui Ju is present during strategical meeting inside Bu'An Castle alongside other Ri Boku's vassals. When the message from Ri Boku arrives with orders to prepare to aid Han, Fu Tei is not happy about getting involved in fighting for another state. However, Shun Sui Ju answers that in the end this is for Zhao and ending Qin's ambitions will benefit them too.[4]

Physical Abilities[]

Leadership[]
Shun Sui Ju is a capable military leader. Usually, he commands from HQ to have a better control of the battlefield although he was also shown leading his cavalry from the front.
Tactical Abilities[]
Master Strategist: Shun Sui Ju is highly intelligent and perceptive, able to deduce the movements and strategies of the Qin army through his extensive spy network. For example, he correctly predicted the Qin army’s change in direction at Kinan based on the information he gathered. During the Battle for Ryouryou, he demonstrated his tactical brilliance by deducing the location of Qin’s food stores from the positioning of their forces and the lay of the land. He then devised a plan to destroy much of the Heki Army's food supplies by utilizing underground tunnels of the Quanrong, which the enemy was unaware of.[7]
Shun Sui Ju also showcased his ability to predict and counter enemy plans. He anticipated Yo Tan Wa’s plan to kill the Quanrong commanders on the ninth day of battle and made preparations to prevent it. In addition to his strategic mind, he is skilled in psychological warfare. Upon arriving at the battlefield, he provoked Yo Tan Wa by killing her soldiers in front of her and personally challenging her.
During the Siege of Atsuyo, Shun Sui Ju implemented a sacrificial strategy, instructing wounded Zhao soldiers to leap off the edge of the walls, taking their enemies down with them. While this tactic seemed impossible to carry out, the soldiers, fueled by their grudge from Kan Ki's massacre, were willing to follow the orders. The strategy succeeded in inflicting three times the casualties on the Qin Army that they had anticipated and forced Ou Sen’s army to delay their progress in order to recover.[8]
Poisoning Methods: Shun Sui Ju also demonstrated his knowledge of poisons when he devised a plan to poison the water wells inside Sekirei using a special device. This tactic allowed the Zhao to recapture the city without resistance, though it made the city uninhabitable in the aftermath.[9]
