AVS204 Birthday Cupcake...

It's another Verve Sketch Challenge card! This one is for the forth sketch and I've also combined Jackie's challenge to use sewing on a card and Amber's challenge to make a birthday card. I had trouble trying to get a good photo of this one so excuse the picture!

I started with a base of green bazzill, layered with white and Basic Grey Porcelain DSP which I then sewed around the edge. The next layer is pink bazzill that has been cut using my brand new Labels 8 Nestabilities and then embossed with 'Script' EF. The sentiment is from SU's Birthday Whimsy - because I don't have any Verve birthday sentiments - stamped in Old Olive. The cupcake is from Verve's Cupcake Affair and has been stamped in Jet Black Stazon and coloured with Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Creamy Caramel and cut it out with the Small Circle Nestabilities then I pierced around the circle. It was then matted with pink cut out with the Large Circle Nestabilities and then the Porcelain DSP layer was cut out with the Blossom Nestabilities. The icing (frosting) has then been covered in Opal Shimmerz to give it a sparkly look and I've added Kaisercraft Snow pearls to each of the flower centres. The whole panel was popped up on foam tape. Finally I finished by adding some white satin ribbon across the bottom and made the bow with my Bow Easy!

Stamps - Cupcake Affair (Verve), Birthday Whimsay (SU ret.)

Paper - Green bazzill, white, pink bazzill, Basic Grey Porcelain DSP

Ink - Jet Black Stazon, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Creamy Caramel

Accessories - Small and Large Classic Circle Nestabilities, Blossom Nestabilities, Labels 8 Nestabilities, Script EF, Kaisercraft Snow pearls, Opal Shimmerz, White Satin Ribbon, Foam tape, Sewing Machine.

That's all for today, thanks for visiting!!! :)

AVS203 Beautiful You...

This is the third card for the Anni-VERVE-sary sketch challenges. I meant to put stitching on it......but then forgot....whoops!!!

I started with a base of Very Vanilla and layered with some soft aqua bazzill, attaching some ivory satin ribbon across the bottom and making a bow with my Bow Easy. The next layer is some more Very Vanilla with one end punched with the Fiskars 'Lace' border punch and topped with this gorgeous French Flea Market DSP by My Mind's Eye. The main panel is the flip side of that same paper matted with more aqua bazzill. In the bottom corner I've stamped 'Beautiful You' (from the Verve set with the same name) and around the flower, the flourishes from Fairy Tales (also Verve) all in Close to Cocoa ink. Finally I added this gorgeous Prima Flower that I've had hoarded in my stash for a while. I am seriously trying NOT to hoard stuff, but it's a hard habit to break!!! :)

Stamps - Beautiful You, Fairy Tales (Verve)

Paper - Very Vanilla, soft aqua bazzill, French Flea Market DSP (MME)

Ink - Close to Cocoa

Accessories - Prima Flower, Ivory Satin Ribbon, Bow Easy, Fiskars 'Lace' border punch.

Don't forget that there is Blog Candy every day over at JustRite and that we are having our HUGE Blog Hop this Monday - it's not just the Design Team, we've got lots of our friends joining in!!!!

That's all for now, thanks for visiting!!! :)

Today's card is the second sketch for the Anni-VERVE-sary sketches. That leaves three to go!

I started with a base of Very Vanilla and layered with some aqua bazzill and then two pieces of Bloom and Grow DSP by My Minds Eye. The next panel is more paper from the same range matted with more aqua cardstock. The two small panels are strips of Very Vanilla tied with Sage Shadow grosgrain ribbon (many thanks to my bestie Pam for sending it to me!!!) and the bows were tied with my Bow Easy! The main panel has been stamped using Verve's Beautiful You set in brown on vanilla and cut using the Classic Oval Nestabilities and matted using the Scalloped Oval Nestabilities in Tangerine Tango and popped up on foam tape. Finally I added orange and aqua flowers to the side and embellished with the Blush pearl centre.

Stamps - Beautiful You (Verve)

Paper - Very Vanilla, aqua bazzill, Tangerine Tango, Bloom and Grow DSP (MME)

Ink - Brown versacolor

Accessories - Classic and Scalloped Oval Nestabilities, flowers, Blush Kaisercraft pearl, Sage Shadow grosgrain ribbon, bow easy, foam tape.

Verve Release Challenge Number 4

Ever have one of those days when you know what you want to try and do, but things just don't come together?? I had one of those days! Honestly I very nearly threw this card in the bin and started over! However, I need to get the final card in for the Verve Release Challenge so I persevered, although I don't know if I'm entirely happy with it.
The challenge is to create a card using soft yellow, soft blue and brown.....I decided to use this week's Mojo Monday sketch as well.
I started with a base of So Saffron, layered with some Fawn Bazzill (edge pierced and bottom punched with the Fiskars 'Lace' punch) and layered again with Paper Salon Enamored:fleur de lis paper (bottom punched). At the bottom I've added some blue satin ribbon, layered yellow and blue flowers and used the Martha Stewart 'Branch' punch for some foliage and a blue rhinestone for the centre. The main panel has been stamped using Verve's 'Beautiful You' set, inked in Cocoa versacolour, cut out and embossed with square nestabilities and layered on some SS (edge pierced). The bottom square is more SS with the edges pierced and the whole panel has been popped up on foam tape. Finished off by adding a couple of clear dew drops that arrived in the mail today from ODBD (I was SO excited!! You have no idea how hard these are to find in Australia!!).
The other interesting thing today is that I had a request via SCS (*waving to Jill*) to add a 'Subscribe by email' function to the blog - after a lot of looking around and checking things out I finally added one, so if you want to get updates in your inbox you can!
Well that's all for today - wish me luck in the Verve Challenges, maybe I'll get lucky this time!!! :) Thanks for visiting!!! :)

VSAPR2 Celebrate With Cupcakes!

Another card for the Verve Release Challenge!! I swear this card started as fairly simple and it grew and grew and got a life of it's own!! I hope I haven't over done it!!!
I started with a base of white, layered with a deep dusty pink bazzill that was lurking in my cardstock box and then layered again with a very pale pink bazzill. The two horizontal layers are made of Basic Grey's Urban Prairie paper, matted with white and then the dark pink, with corners from provocraft's 'Vintage' die set and a small chocolate pearl (Kaisercraft). The middle panel is made up of the Label 3 and circle nestabilities dies from Spellbinders. The largest layers has a little bit of piercing in each corner, the pale layer has a circle of piercing. The circle panel has been embossed with the 'Devine Swirl' embossing folder. Finally popped up in the middle is the yummy cupcake by Verve that has been coloured with markers and a fine layer of kindyglitz (like stickles but not so thick) over the icing (frosting). The top flower has been popped again and it's finished off with some large chocolate pearls in the middle.
That's all for today, thanks for visiting!!!! :)

Verve Release Challenge Number 1

My niece Kaia (pronounced Ky-ah) is turning 1 year old next week, so I decided to use another of the Verve Release Party Challenges to make a card for her. This little girl was premature and had a bit of a rough start to life, but is now doing very well......thank God!!
I started with a light green base, matted with white (pierced of course!!) and then matted with pink that has been embossed with 'Swiss Dots' embossing folder. The large rectangle panel is a piece of Urban Prairie paper by Basic Grey, matted with white and green. The princess is from Lizzie Anne Designs, has been stamped in black and coloured with markers and cut out. It was then stuck onto a Label 4 die cut that had been cut out of white, embossed the edge and sponged some pink onto it while still in the die so that it has a pink background and white edge. The horizontal slot punch was used on the side to add some ribbon and a clear rhinestone. Finally the circle has been stamped from Verve's 'Fairy Tales' set in green and cut out. The '1' has been stamped using the Just Rite Special Occasions Font and the whole circle has been popped up on foam tape.
That's two challenges down and two to go!! :) Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!! :)

SC220 - Praying for You

I have finally gotten around to making a card for this week's SCS Sketch Challenge . I decided I was in a blue/green kind of mood and I just love this Lily Kate paper by Basic Grey so that's what I used.

I started with some blue bazzill, layered with some green and another layer of blue. Then I cut 1 inch strips of patterned paper and glued them down and added some green satin ribbon around the middle. The middle panel has been stamped using Verve's 'Notes of Prayer' set, stamped in Versacolor, adding a Bella brad to the centre of the cross and some piercing to the top corner. Finished off with some Kaisercraft 'Blush' pearls.

Thanks for visiting!!! :)

SFYTT Happy Mail

This is for Jen's Sketch For You To Try challenge which is offering Blog Candy for participating this week!! Now I have to say my mojo went on strike this week and it was probably not the best idea to try something fairly new. I scored this super cute stamp from my BFF Edna for my birthday but haven't inked it up until today. I haven't done a lot of watercolouring before, so don't look too close!!!
I started with a base of white card, layered with some unknown teal card and layered again with some yellow check paper from DCWV. I added a strip of white card punched with the Lazy Days of Summer punch by Fiskars and tied some white grosgrain around it to cover the join. Then I attached the watercoloured "Post Box" image by Sugar Nellie Stamps and sentiment from Artful Elegance by Verve .
I think I'm going to have to practice my colouring and have another try with this stamp because it's just so cute!! That's all for today, thanks for visiting!! :)

A New Challenge...

Today while blurfing around I came across Paula's Blog with her Midnight Madness Inspiration challenge. As soon as I saw the soft shades of pink and blue, dots and cupcakes I knew that I wanted to give this challenge a go!!!

I started with a blue bazzill base and topped it with pink bazzill (pierced the edges) and then white. I thought the white needed something and gave it a bit of texture with the Devine Swirls EF (only now you can't see it anyway!!). Then I took some MAMBI paper but decided it looked a bit plain and cut it into three pieces and matted it on the pink.

The main image is from Verve's Cupcake Affair set. Verve is having a large sale at the moment for anyone thinking of buying!! I stamped the cupcake in black and embossed it and then coloured it with markers and a blender pen, cut it out and popped it on the circle layer. The circle layer was done with the circle nestabilities and the white layer was embossed with the Devine Swirl EF. I finished off by adding some white grosgrain ribbon and the sentiment from the same set.

That's all for today, thanks for visiting!!! :)

Featured Stamper - SgtStamper!!!

Woohoo!! It's Featured Stamper Sunday and I actually managed to do the challenge on the right day!!! This week's honour goes to the very talented SgtStamper!!! I chose her Lift Up Your Hands card to case. I changed the colours, sentiment, paper and added some butterflies instead of a flower and a different type of ribbon.
I started with a base of pink bazzill topped it with some green bazzill and the a layer of this pretty Basic Grey butterfly paper from their Urban Prairie range and punched the border with the Lazy Days of Summer punch by Fiskars. Instead of adding the extra square layer I used vellum and sewed it on (don't die of shock Edna!!! She knows I don't sew!) The square panel that been turned I've cut with my square nestabilities and the sentiment is from Beautiful You set (which happens to be on sale at the moment! I've added some butterflies that have been punched out with the Martha Stewart 'Royal Butterfly' punch and added some Kaiser 'Blush' pearls for the bodies, as well as a couple in the top corners. It's finished off with some beautiful ribbon that I picked up at Bee Crafty in Maryborough - I have no idea what it is called, but I just love it!!! As I'm typing this it occurs to me that this was an ODBD sketch that I've cased....ooops! Well I loved the card and wanted to do that one - I'm sure I'll be forgiven!!
That's all for today, thanks for visiting!! :)

WSC68 and Card Appeal

Happy Saturday!! It has now been a week since the fires started in Victoria and as I mentioned in my last post, a Card Appeal is underway by 'Lovely Linda' on SCS. Linda is gathering cards with messages of support for those who have been affected by the fires - if you want to participate please leave me a message or PM either Linda or myself (Wattle) on SCS.
This card is the first I've made for the appeal. I've used Beate's Weekend Sketch challenge as a starting point. I've used some vanilla card, topped with some fawn coloured bazzill and topped again with some vanilla that I've embossed with the Script EF. Then I cut two circles out of this gorgeous paper by Kaisercraft's 'Cafe Culture' range and added some dark cream ribbon. The centre panel has been cut with square nestabilities and the sentiment comes from 'Beautiful You' by Verve and the flourishes by Verve's 'Arful Elegance' set.
That's all for now, thanks for visiting!! :)

I prayed for you today

Today's card is one that I made a little while ago that never made it onto the blog, but I loved the way it turned out.
I started with some soft blue bazzill that I matted with some white (pierced of course!! LOL!) and then another layer of blue bazzill. I topped that with some of this gorgeous paper by Little Yellow Bicycle (Blue Lace from the Delightful collection). The square panel is more of the blue bazzill on white that I've stamped with Verve's Grateful Elegance set in versamark, embossed in white and tied some white organdy ribbon around it. The cross is from Verve's Notes of Prayer set and stamped in sand beige (versacolor). I've added a blue square rhinestone brad from 'Bella' and cut the ovals out with oval nestabilities. The sentiment is stamped in the same colour and also from the Notes of Prayer set and I've finished off by adding three tiny pearls (Kaisercraft) in each corner.
That's all for today, thanks for visiting!! :)

Black and White Christmas

Christmas is coming and lately I've become very fond of Black and White Christmas cards. This one was done with a sketch from Verve Stamps . It starts with a black bazzill card base, matted with white. Then the small black layer to the top left is stamped in Versamark and embossed in white, using 'Snow Swirled' by Stampin Up. The white layer to the right is matted with black and the same image is stamped in black and clear embossed. The sentiment is stamped in black from the same set. The scallop border is done using the Threading Water Punch from Fiskars. The main image is done using two sets from Verve Stamps .... Artful Elegance and Fairy Tales . The flourishes outline and hanger are stamped in black onto the white layer - the circle is stamped in Versamark and white embossed, punched out and popped up for a bit of dimension.
