“ | All this. It's worth it. All those times you'd ask me if we'd find a home... All I could ever tell you was "we'll see". And your face would fall every single time. (...) That's what I told myself. But you want to know something I didn't tell you? I never had a plan. I never knew where we were going. I never knew anything. I just fought and fought and fought, and hoped you didn't notice. Hoped we'd find something before you did. Did I do a good job? | „ |
~ Clementine to AJ (determinant) |
Clementine is the main protagonist of the Telltale Games' The Walking Dead video game series, serving as the deuteragonist of the first and third seasons and the main protagonist of the second and fourth seasons. She is also the titular main protagonist of the one-shot comic Clementine Lives, and Skybound Comet's graphic novel trilogy Clementine.
In the first season, Clementine was an eight-year-old little girl of mixed ethnicity, living with her parents in a suburb in Atlanta. While her parents were away, she was forced to join a group of survivors in an effort to find safety in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.
Through the plot, Clementine develops a strong bond with Lee Everett, a former fugitive who becomes her new guardian. Being one of the first elements created for the game, Clementine was designed to act as a moral compass for the player in addition to an influence on the player's decisions, to which the player would have to reflect upon.
She is voiced by Melissa Hutchison.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Admirable?[]
Season 1[]
- For the whole season, Clementine was a little girl, so she was not so effective as a muscle strength, but acted as a voice of reason, or the moral compass of the motel group and tried her best to maintain the humanity of the group in a post-apocalyptic world.
"A New Day"[]
- Saves Lee from a zombified Sandra by giving him a hammer to put her down.
- Is charged with the task of keeping in contact with Glenn over her walkie-talkie while he is retrieving gasoline for Kenny's pickup truck at a nearby motel.
- After the pharmacy's alarm prompted a large-scale walker attack, she assists Lee in blocking the doors by retrieving his father's cane and handing it to him, after which he slides it through the handles.
"Starved For Help"[]
- After the group is locked in the meat locker by St. John Family, Clementine helps the group escape by climbing through an air vent and opening the meat locker's door from the back of the barn.
- Refuses to take the resources from the abandoned car in the forest and mentions to the group that the owners of the car could still be alive, and she was correct in saying so.
"Long Road Ahead"[]
- Helps Lee as they are searching in the train depot for something that can cut the metal attaching the tanker.
"Around Every Corner"[]
- (If Clementine stayed in house) Saves Omid from a walker by either trapping it behind the double doors on the first floor or shooting it.
- (If Clementine went Crawford) Saves Molly from a walker by shooting it in the head.
- (If Clementine went Crawford and Lee lets her vote) While Kenny and Christa want Ben out of the group, Clementine says that Ben is a nice friend and they don't leave friends behind, indirectly making him stay with the group (even though Ben left Clementine behind with walkers before).
"No Time Left"[]
- Helps Lee to attack the Stranger by attacking him from behind.
- Saves Lee's life by shooting the Stranger in the head If Lee cannot manage to strangle him.
- Depending on Lee's choices, she either shoots him in the head to prevent his reanimation or leaves but cuffs him before leaving, to keep him from attacking as a zombie.
Season 2[]
- While she can be classified as Heroic Benchmark in the first season, Clementine has become IA in the second season due to being the player character with conflicted choices. Same with Lee and Javier, some of her choices are dependent on player's choice that can make her more admirable and/or more inconsistent.
"All That Remains"[]
- When Christa is ambushed by Winston, Victor and Ralph, Clementine can throw a rock at Winston in order to distract the scavengers and save Christa.
- After finding Sam, the dog, Clementine can try to befriend him. She also can feed him with a can of bean, or at least try to since Sam will attack Clementine regardless of player's choice.
- After Clementine accidentally kicks Sam into metal spikes, she can stab him in the neck in order to end his suffering.
- After seeing Victor (one of the scavengers who attacked Christa) in the riverbank, injured and weak, asking for water, she can give him water although he did not deserve it and will still succumb to his injuries.
- In the riverbank, Clementine chooses either saving Pete or Nick.
- If she chooses Pete, she will save his life by killing the walker attacking Pete.
- If she chooses Nick, she will run for saving Nick's life, but it will be unnecessary since Nick has a gun to protect himself. So, Pete will die if she chooses Nick, but Nick will stay alive regardless of the choice.
"A House Divided"[]
- Tries to stop Nick from shooting Matthew, but she could not succeed.
- While the group are going to stop the windmill and fend off the walkers, Kenny and Luke go to check on the blown transformer as Clementine shuts down the windmill while the others cover her.

- After the group is taken hostage by Carver's group, she tries to save them but cannot succeed.
- She can save Alvin's life either by telling Kenny to surrender, or running into/shouting at Carver while he is taking Alvin hostage.
"In Harm's Way"[]
- During Carver's announcement, Sarah will begin talking to Clementine about their first night. Clementine can either be polite to Sarah or ask her to keep quiet. Regardless of the choice, Sarah continues talking and it results in Carver's command that Carlos disciplines his daughter. Clementine can claim it was her fault, which Carver disagrees.
- In the greenhouse, after seeing Sarah is unable to work, she can choose to help Sarah. Whichever option is chosen, Carver will come to the greenhouse, causing Reggie to panic as either Clementine or Sarah would have failed to get their work done depending on the above choice. As Carver becomes angry at Reggie's failure to do the task, Clementine can say that it was her fault, but Carver dismisses her response.
- As a part of the escape plan, she sneaks the hardware store and stealing walkie-talkies in order to keep in touch with Luke.
- While Kenny is getting beaten by Carver, she can choose either restraining Sarita in order to calming her down, or trying to help Kenny but it will be resulted with Troy knocking Clem out.

- After descending, Clementine goes to the meeting area but finds the group being held at gunpoint by Carver. She then distracts Carver by shooting or jumping onto him, allowing the group to overpower him.
- She can choose to leave the store to not watch Kenny brutally murder Carver, though watching Carver die is still understandable since he deserves it.
- After getting out the hardware store, she discovers that the herd of walkers has reached the hardware store. To escape, the group begin to cover themselves in the walker's guts. Clementine helps Sarah with this task.
- After she noticed that Sarita has been bitten, she either chooses to kill the attacking walker or chop Sarita's arm off in an attempt to save her.
