Jinx, originally known as Powder, is one of two main protagonists (alongside her sister Vi) of the 2021-2024 Netflix original animated series Arcane, which is set in the same universe as League of Legends.
Once a kind-hearted girl who only wanted to help her friends with her inventions, Powder was left traumatized after a tragic accident she caused. Adopted by the crime lord Silco, she took the name Jinx and became a dangerous, unstable killer, struggling with the guilt of that fateful night.
After Silco’s death, Jinx loses her sense of purpose as Zaun falls into chaos, but she unexpectedly becomes a symbol of hope and freedom for the people there. She forms an unlikely friendship with a young orphan, Isha. When Jinx learns that Vi is now an enforcer hunting her down, she tries to kill her sister, but the attempt fails. Later, Jinx discovers that the monstrous creature Warwick is actually Vander, the first father figure she and Vi had before their lives were shattered. This revelation leads Jinx and Vi to team up in search of Vander, and through this journey, they finally reconcile.
She was voiced by Ella Purnell as an adult and by Mia Sinclair Jenness as a child.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Admirable?[]
- She always tried to help her siblings Vi, Mylo and Claggor during their escapades despite her lack of experience.
- In a desperate attempt to save Vander and her siblings, she deployed a hextech-powered bomb in an attempt to rescue them.
- Even after descending into a path to villainy through Silco's influence, Jinx regarded him as a father figure and helped administer Shimmer injections for his mutated eye.
- She wanted to make amends with Vi upon finding out that she was still alive, before forgiving her after she apologized for abandoning her.
- Despite initially distrusting Vi under the belief that she had betrayed her for Caitlyn, she temporarily teamed up with her sister when the Firelights attacked, and tried to chase after them after they kidnapped Vi.
- Feared by Silco's attempt to shoot Vi, she fired her gun in a panic to stop him from killing her but ended up killing him in the process.
- She felt remorse towards killing Silco, and later held a private funeral for him out of respect.
- She saved Isha from Chross' thugs. When Isha began to follow her after having nowhere to go, Jinx gradually developed an attachment towards the girl and adopted her as a little sister figure.
- Despite her conflicts with Sevika, she made up with her before giving her a new prosthetic arm.
- She tried to protect Isha from the impact of her bombs after Sevika blew them up to stop Vi and Caitlyn, even though Jinx had previously wanted to die in combat.
- When Isha, her followers and several other civilians were arrested by Ambessa's forces, Jinx freed them from their imprisonment alongside Sevika, accepting her position as their "big fat hero".
- Held off Warwick so Isha and Sevika could escape.
- When finding out Warwick was Vander, teamed up with Vi to track him down because he's "Vi's father too".
- Tried to calm down Warwick so he wouldn't attack Vi and Isha.
- Saved Caitlyn from Rictus despite the former having tried to kill her.
- Teamed up with Vi and Caitlyn when Warwick lost control and the Noxus goons attacked.
- Tried to stop Isha from performing a heroic sacrifice, only being held back by Vi.
- According to Caitlyn, after Vi passed out, all Jinx cared about was getting her sister to safety.
- Alongside Ekko, arrived in the final battle with many troops to help overpower the Noxus army, saving everyone from Ambessa's army.
- Protected Vi from Warwick and (non-lethally) sacrificed herself to save her sister and end the beast.
- Choose to leave Piltover and Zuan on an air ship, walking away from the cycle of violence as Silco encouraged her to do.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- While she does ultimately redeem herself in the end, she committed acts far too heinous to qualify as PG or NPG, including assassinating the council and terrorizing the citizens of Piltover.
- She has the highest onscreen kill count of any character, and while she does show some remorse for killing Caitlyn's mother, she never shows remorse any of the other crimes she committed or people she killed.
- She can a massive jerk and has a few Kick the Dog moments, like when she shoots a crow in Season 1 for no reason, or the back-and-forth bickering she does with Vi, particularly when they reunite in the second season, such as insulting Vi's new appearance, the fact Vi didn't build her gauntlets herself, and slapping Vi after she claimed Jinx wouldn't last one second in a fight against her.
- She is very mischievous and enjoys the chaos and destruction she causes. Some instances of her being mischievous include pretending to have killed and made Caitlyn into a snack, then revealing to a kidnapped Vi that she was referring to a literal cupcake, playfully exclaiming "even I'm not that crazy", and going around spray painting and vandalizing several buildings while bonding with Isha.
Trivia[]
- She is currently the only Arcane/League of Legends character to be Inconsistently Admirable.
