Sabazushi (サバズシ, Sabazushi) was a mercenary working for Battera. He was the leader of an armed force responsible for protecting the castle where Battera's Greed Island game consoles were run.[1]
Appearance[]
Sabazushi was a rotund man in his fifties with short fair hair and a darker-colored mustache. He had a square face, a flat nose, and slightly asymmetrical eyes. While working for Battera, he wore a mimetic uniform and a beret.
Personality[]
Sabazushi seemed to be rather kind since, despite receiving his cancellation fee, he stayed at Battera's place to inform Tsezguerra.[1]
Plot[]
Greed Island arc[]
Upon returning to Battera's mansion, Tsezguerra, and his comrades try and confront a self-confined Battera, but to no avail. Sabazushi then meets with Tsezguerra's team to inform them that Battera had been terminated. Because of this, everyone under his employment was paid their final wages and termination fees.
When Genthru leaves Greed Island to follow Tsezguerra's trail, he encounters and kills Sabazushi.[1]

Trivia[]
- Sabazushi's name is equal and probably comes from saba-zushi or sabazushi (saba, 鯖 or サバ being the Japanese name for mackerel fish), a famous type of oshizushi ("pressed sushi") with mackerel cured with salt and vinegar. This food is alternatively called バッテラ (battera, pressed mackerel sushi)—such as the name of Sabazushi's employer, Battera.
Anime and Manga Differences[]
- Sabazushi is mentioned by name, but doesn't appear in person in the 1999 OVA anime adaptation.
