History[]
Past[]
At a young age, he began to display great potential as a martial artist. At age 13, while giving a martial arts demonstration at Douzhixiang, Wong Fei Hung met Lam Fuk Sing, the first apprentice of Tit Kiu Saam, who taught him Iron Wire Fist and Sling, which helped him become a master of Hung Gar. When he was 16, Wong Fei set up martial arts schools at Shuijiao, Diqipu, Xiguan, Guangdong Province, and then opened his clinic Po Chi Lam on Renan Street in Foshan. By his early 20's, he was already a highly-respected physician and martial artist. Wong was a master of the Hung Fist. He then systematized the predominant style of Hung Fist and choreographed its version of the famous Tiger Crane Paired Form Fist, which incorporates his "Ten Special Fist" techniques. Wong was also famous for his skill with the technique known as the "Shadowless Kick". He was known to state the names of the techniques he used while fighting. Wong Fei Hung also became skilled at using weapons such as the wooden long staff. One story recounts how he defeated a gang of 30 men on the docks of Canton using the staff.
Meeting Batman[]
Wong Fei made his debut as Bruce admitted that he sought a way to take back everything he lost. The old master told him he must fight blind like his animal totem, the Bat. The other students attacked and took down Bruce. When Fox pursued the attack, Bronze Tiger knocked him away. Wong Fei told Bronze Tiger to let Batman fight his own battles, and Bronze Tiger warned Batman he wouldn't help him again.
Later, Wong Fei invited his students to attack him. Three of his pupils (Shark, Vulture, and a wealthy Fox) began to attack the old master, but Wong Fei easily defeated them. Bruce failed in his attack with his mentor, leaving Bronze Tiger. He shattered Wong Fei's staff but the master took him down as well and demanded that he bow to him. Bronze Tiger angrily refused and threw down his tiger helmet, then stormed away.
Present and Death[]
While strolling outside of his temple, Wong Fei looks on as hundred of arrows stream down. He deflects them from hitting him and then sees five ninjas arrive. He knocks them down and then asks the three leaders, the Terrible Trio, when they will abandon their efforts to capture the temple. He warns them it will be a long time before they can defeat him and take the temple's totem. They attack but the monk easily defeats first Shark, and then Vulture. However, Fox downs him with a poisoned dart. The monk gasps in agony and Fox warns them that they have to depart with the rising of the sun, but there's nothing Wong Fei can do to stop them before they return.
In Gotham, Batman brings down the Top as he robs a bank. Suddenly Batman hears the monk chastising his form. Batman finds his astral self summoned to before Wong Fei. The ailing Wong Fei chastises Batman for his costume and tells Batman that his former ates are seeking the animal totem. Batman must reach the temple before sundown and Batman promises to come and bring Bronze Tiger. Wong Fei tells him not to waste his time bringing the prideful Bronze Tiger, then gives Batman a scroll containing an image of a hybrid man/animal form. Wong Fei says his journey has ended. He fades from sight and Batman's consciousness returns to his body.
