You can stick a tiara on a villain but you're still a villain.

~ Uma's most famous quote.
Uma is a major antagonist-turned-supporting protagonist in Descendants franchise; serving as the main antagonist of Descendants 2 and the secondary antagonist-turned-anti-heroic deuteragonist of Descendants 3.
She is Ursula’s daughter who worked at Fish and Chips Shoppe, the captain of her crew, and Mal’s former archenemy.
After her redemption, Uma is known for being brash, loyal, determined, strong, ambitious and a natural leader. She is extremely tough and subdued, but she cares about Harry, Gil and his crew like the ones on the Isle of the Lost.
Whatever she is, raised by Ursula, she is still a "bad", in the fact of treating strangers as enemies, for example Mal.
In the first film she proves to be evil and devious, using every means necessary to reach her goals, also very aggressive since Mal made the trick of making her fall from the dock and throw her in the hair of the shrimp, but afterwards she changes character for the better. She shows herself in Descendants 3 courageous, kind and sensitive, but also extremely stubborn and exuberant.
Despite the opinion of Mal and Uma's other enemies, Ben believes that Uma is just "an angry girl with a bad plan" who wishes to be heard, and "not so different from Mal."

History[]
Descendants 2[]
After the events of her backstory, Uma and her crew are attempting to break down the barrier between the Isle and Auradon. Uma, Harry, and Gil work together to plot revenge on Mal. Once Mal returns after being put under too much pressure in Auradon, Ben, Evie, Jay and Carlos search for her only for Ben to be kidnapped. Uma then blackmails Mal into giving her the Fairy Godmother's wand in exchange for Ben. Towards the end of the movie, she attempts to steal the wand by making Ben fall in love with her. After being confronted Uma leaps into the waters below only to reveal that she too has tentacles just like her mother, she fights Mal in her dragon form before Ben comes between them. At the end of the movie Uma emerges from the water again breaking the fourth wall to the audience hinting at another sequel.
Descendants 3[]
Uma poses a threat to Auradon as Mal and Ben prepare for VK Day. She doesn't make an appearance until VK and Celia are confronted by Harry and Gil after leaving the island, and Harry drops the embers in sea in Mal. Uma appears as a giant cecaelia and catches her embers with one of her tentacles, maliciously asking Mal if she dropped it. She then proceeds to transform into a human and appears on the broken bridge, embers in hand. She explains how she was looking for a hole in the barrier to free all the inhabitants of the island and tells her crew about her how good Auradon is. Uma finds it amusing that an AK poses a threat and she uses her embers to bargain with Mal: she helps them in exchange for the release of all the bad children. Mal agrees, but we as the audience know that she is lying. However, no one else, not even Evie, Jay and Carlos, knows. Uma keeps the fire to ensure Mal's cooperation, much to Mal's anger. When Evie suggests they try to get along, Uma and her team are incredulous at the request.
When the Vk and Uma's crew arrive in Auradon they find everyone petrified or asleep, in which Jay and Harry have a fight and Mal and Uma stop them. Uma thinks it is better to check the school to find Audrey, with Celia agrees with her, but Mal says it is better to go to the catello and the two girls start arguing, until Evie gets between them.
The group goes to look for Ben at the castle, where Uma notices a painting destroyed by claw marks, which scares her a little. Entering a gallery, Uma ironically asks Mal if she is worried that she is now on the loose and irritated Mal responds by asking aloud what she tastes of her fried octopus, and Evie is forced to stop them again. With Mal and Uma just failing to get along, Harry warns them that he has seen living armor and the two teams are forced to fight together, with the song "Night Falls".
After defeating the armor, Uma and Mal congratulate their respective groups, in which Evie tries again to get Mal and Uma together, this time with an ice pick, in which Uma scoffs. Mal gives them the plan, which Uma points out was her original idea of hers.
Uma and Celia go to Audrey's room to find clues, in which Uma finds Audrey's diary, commenting that Mal really ruined her life for Audrey. At that moment Mal arrives and sarcastically asks "Did you find anything we don't already know?". Uma says that Audrey likes going to Fairy Cottage (irony of the situation due to Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent), then she wonders how a girl like Audrey could not have her happy ending.
Mal, Evie, Uma and Celia go to Evie's Cottage where they find Dizzy, Squirmy, Squeaky and Doug sound asleep. Uma advises Evie to wake Doug with the kiss of true love (song "One Kiss"). Later, Uma and Celia eat Jane's birthday cake, which Mal sarcastically praises Uma for her idea of checking the dorms, Uma asks if she couldn't find an insult in the statement, which Mal refuses. Mal then "apologizes" for Shrimpy's accident and for making fun of her ("I might have missed the boat a bit"), Uma declares that if it wasn't for Mal, she could have ruled the Island together. At that moment, however, Audrey magically traps them all inside the house, where Mal and Uma use their magic to break the spell and Uma jokes that her necklace likes Mal before Celia warns them that the boys have arrived. to save them.
Uma, reconciling with Harry and Gil, hugs them, with Ben telling her that he knew she would be part of the "solution". Eventually the group devises a plan to find Audrey and Fairy Godmother. Uma, Harry and Gil go with Mal, Ben, Evie, Jay, Carlos and Celia to Fairy Cottage and all they find there is a terrified Chad Charming. Uma reveals to Mal that she would like the two of them to put their differences aside, but at that moment Mal reveals to the group that she lied and that no other villain kids can leave the island. After this revelation, Uma gets angry and declares to believe that Mal was the mistake of her life, after Celia screams at Mal in tears in anger takes the embers from Mal and throws it into the water neutralizing her powers. She and Harry leave the group.
Later, when Audrey begins to unleash the apocalypse, Mal reaches up to Uma and begs her to help her, but she is still angry and declares that she wants to return to the Isle of the Lost, but then she, Harry and Gil go back after seeing Mal in her dragon form and realizing that Audrey is holding Celia hostage. Uma uses her necklace and both her and Mal's powers boost her embers once again. When Mal defeats Audrey, Uma with Gil and Harry celebrate in triumph.
With Audrey on the brink of death, Mal proposes that Hades wake her up and he would do so for her first since he was her father. Uma says she wants to go back to Isle of the Lost, because it's that home of hers and she has to stay there to protect it, with Harry telling her "You'll need your first mate with you.", Celia however prefers to go to isle of the lost also as she also had to protect her family, Uma is happy with that. Before leaving, Mal thanks her and Uma hugs her happy that they have become friends with her again.
During Mal and Ben's engagement party, they permanently raise the barrier that separates Auradon from the Island. Uma proudly exclaims that this was her plan before she joyfully began singing the song "Break This Down". The VKs are graciously welcomed into Auradon by the AKs and celebrate it.
