Hanabi Hyūga is a supporting character in the Naruto anime/manga series and the Boruto anime/manga series.
She is voiced by Kiyomi Asai in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Stephanie Sheh and later Colleen Villard in the English version. She is voiced by Kari Wahlgren in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4.
Biography[]
Hanabi is the younger sister of Hinata and she always looked up to her more else sister and always wanted to spend with her. Due to her duties as the future heiress of the Hyūga clan, it was quite hard for both the siblings to spend time with each other.
Seeing how Hinata was so strong and yet so kind to others around her, Hanabi got inspired to be like her elder sister. She always wondered why Hinata used to sneak out to watch Naruto, who was a social outcast at that time.
Hanabi appears throughout the series and was present to watch the final parts of the chunin exams before the Sand-Sound Invasion of the Village. She survived the attack on the village.
Throughout the years, Hanabi has become more active in affairs within the Hyūga clan. Hanabi is also one of the many caught in the Madara Uchiha's Infinite Tsukyomi when the Uchiha casted the technique on the world during the Fourth Ninja World War. She was released by Naruto and Sasuke. She continues to serve in the Hyūga clan and stay by Hinata's side years after the Fourth Ninja War.
Personality[]
Hanabi's character was not expanded much in the manga. In the anime, Hanabi seems to be a quiet, polite, and respectful girl, though she seems to open up to people a little easier than her sister. Compared to the old Hinata, Hanabi is far more confident. Animas idolized her big sister from a young age, always wanting to hang out with Hinata and just be around her. He was also saddened to hear the harsh conditions Hinata had to endure. Learning of the harsh nature of the hyūga and the fact that she was expected to lead her clan, Hanabi gradually hardened, similar to Neji's original views on predestined fate and its inevitability, and decided not to betray her clan. as a future leader.
After seeing her sister rise above everyone's expectations to become so resilient, Hanabi mostly recovered her earlier jolly nature. She also developed a strong regard for Naruto, the social misfit in the anime. This resulted from persuading herself that she could control her own destiny in addition to encouraging Neji and Hinata to see things differently.
She also supports Hinata's feelings for Naruto two years after the war. Hanabi is also described as a "modern young woman with great taste". As an adult, Hanabi matured considerably and took the role of jōnin sensei and future clan leader very seriously. In the first, she is known as a very strict teacher. She's also seen doting over her niece and nephew Himawari and Boruto gushing over them when they visit the Hyūga estates. However, she encourages them to be independent and ask for help with their problems only after they have tried everything else. Hanabi also takes much pride in cooking and shows comical displeasure when Boruto says his sister is better. Overall, Hanabi still feels a strong crush for Boruto and wants him to succeed. She developed a strong relationship with Konohamaru Sarutobi, who also sees Boruto as a little brother. Hanabi is also a fan of the card game Extreme: Shinobi Picture Scrolls, having an expansive collection and knowing as much about it as Boruto and his friends.
As captain of Team 15, Hanabi proves to be extremely strict and hard with her students, as she brought Namida's improvement in Water Release techniques to the extreme and refused to back down with the young kunoichi who begged for her help. If her students act against her or imperil themselves, Hanabi can be quite cruel and hostile. This was shown when she furiously lectured Wasabi and Namida for acting against a group of missing-nin who were in the Bingo Book. However, she's shown to have enjoyed spending time with her students outside of duty and works hard to help them live up to their potential.
