Genta Igarashi, born Junpei Shiranami, is the father of the Igarashi family and a supporting protagonist in Kamen Rider Revice, as well as the main protagonist of the prequel miniseries Revice Legacy: Kamen Rider Vail. His real name is . After he was critically injured in a demon attack, he became bonded with the demon Vail and received the Vail Driver the government research organization NOAH, allowing him to transform into Kamen Rider Vail and act as a supersoldier for them. Later he got his Vail Driver modified by George Karizaki known as the Destream Driver, he gained the ability to transform into Kamen Rider Destream.
He is portrayed by Shigeyuki Totsugi, and by Masanari Wada in the past.
Biography[]
Revice Legacy: Kamen Rider Vail[]
Junpei Shiranami lost both his parents to an attack by a red demon. After being critically injured in a biking accident, he was kidnapped by the government research organization NOAH.
Masumi Karizaki, the head researcher of NOAH, injected him with cells from Giff in order to heal him. Junpei was saved, but as a side effect the demon Vail manifested from him. Junpei was then kept chained up in a cell in NOAH's compound until he agreed to accept the Vail Driver and become a Kamen Rider for them.
From there on out, Junpei was employed by NOAH as an effective supersoldier to combat demon attacks. Whenever a demon appeared, Junpei was sent out as Vail to kill the demon in a berserk rage. Once the demon was dead, Junpei would be tased into submission by NOAH soldiers and brought back to his cell, where he was made to stay until another demon attack occurred. Over time, Junpei would lose his memory through his continued usage of the Driver.
During one fight against a demon, Junpei went berserk after being called a "demon" by a civilian and used a finisher that dug up rubble from the ground, causing him to be trapped under it. It was then that he met Yukimi Igarashi, who came up to him and was surprised to see he was human.
Kamen Rider Revice[]
After falling in love with Yukimi, Genta escaped from NOAH with help from Masumi Karizaki and Shozo Irabu, a former NOAH soldier. He married Yukimi, taking on her surname in order to go into hiding. He and Yukimi would later create the Happy Spa bathhouse as a way of making money. Their regular customers included Irabu. At some point however, Genta lost most of his memories of his time in NOAH.
Genta and Yukimi would eventually have three children together: Ikki, Daiji and Sakura. While Yukimi was still pregnant with Sakura, an incident occurred where Vail possessed Genta and made him burn down the bathhouse in an attempt to kill family. However, the day was saved when Ikki made a contract with his own inner demon and defeated Vail, rescuing everyone. As part of his contract, Ikki lost his memories of the incident as well.
As adults, Genta's children each went on different paths. Ikki stayed to work at the bathhouse, Daiji joined Fenix and rose to the rank of Squad Leader, and Sakura became a karate practitioner. All three would end up becoming Kamen Riders however, as they had inherited Giff's cells from Genta and thus were capable of using Fenix's Drivers.
After escaping the Demons Driver, Vail possessed Genta Igarashi and made him transform into Kamen Rider Vail again. He attempted to make Genta kill his children, but Genta was able to resist Vail and cancel their transformation before collapsing to the ground. Regaining his memories of his past, Genta had Irabu bring him to a safe location away from his family for their own protection.
