I think it's just great to continue growing vegetables. Even if bad stuff is going on in the world, my vegetables are still growing. As long these vegetables grow, there's something good in the world.
~ Shoichi Tsugami said his motivation to protect the world.
For myself... for Agito... for humanity!
~ Shoichi Tsugami resolve his faith as Kamen Rider Agito.
If the fate of humanity is in your hands... Then i... Then i will take it back!
~ Shoichi Tsugami to Overlord/Theos before transforming into Kamen Rider Agito Shining Form.

Shoichi Tsugami (born Tetsuya Sawaki) is the titular main protagonist of Kamen Rider Agito. He is a young man who transformed into Kamen Rider Agito to find the truth about his past and regain his long-lost past memory as well as protect innocent humans and Agito from the threat of Lords/Unknowns.

He is portrayed by Toshiki Kashu.

History[]

Kamen Rider Agito[]

Past and Becoming Kamen Rider Agito[]

His real name is Tetsuya Sawaki, and he is Yukina Sawaki's younger brother. He fell in love with the real Shoichi Tsugami. Yukina and Tsugami took part in a research project on human paranormal talents led by Nobuyuki Kazaya. Yukina was chosen as the study's subject due to her unique ability. The two had a romantic relationship, but as her powers developed (indicating her awakening as an Agito), she committed suicide.

After learning of his sister's suicide, Tetsuya attempted to contact Tsugami, which led him aboard the Akatsuki ship. Tetsuya looked for Tsugami, unaware that he had committed himself, but to no effect. Instead, he discovers a young man's lifeless body, who later exposes himself to be the Overlord of Light. The deity, feeling that his brother had dispatched one of his emissaries to the boat, awakened Tetsuya as the second Agito before leaving, just as the El of Water appeared. The El attacks Tetsuya, sensing his churning power, but just as the final blow was about to land, Tetsuya transforms into Agito for the first time. The ensuing conflict ended with Tetsuya being thrown overboard and proclaimed "lost-at-sea" by the authorities. Tetsuya, on the other hand, had survived and washed up on shore, but he had lost his memory. He was discovered by a trio of schoolgirls and sent to the hospital to be cared for by Dr. Azuma Kunieda, where he adopted the alias of Shoichi Tsugami, who had died at the time.

Present and Battling Lords as Kamen Rider Agito[]

Now, Shoichi, Tetsuya would be cared for by Dr. Kunieda until he was transported to Misugi. There, he would live a tranquil, fairly regular existence, unconcerned about whether he would recall his history or not. That is, until the presence of the Jaguar Lord Panthras Letus reawakened him as Agito. Shoichi, on the other hand, was in a feral state of mind at the time, attacking G3 only to recover before delivering the fatal blow. The occurrence made Shoichi scared of the changes, but knowing he had a place to belong gave him the strength to use his newfound power to protect those he befriended, with Mana being the only one in the Misugi household who was aware of Shoichi's transformation into Kamen Rider Agito.

Shoichi accidentally crosses paths with Tomoko Miura, one of the Akatsuki's surviving members, who subsequently calls him to meet her the next day at East Park for the answers he seeks. However, because Tomoko was murdered, Shoichi never met her, which led to him being detained on the charge of her murder until he was eventually cleared when Mana guided Hikawa to the real culprit, the Overlord. Shoichi attempts to shield Mana from the Scorpion Lord Leiurus Acutia on her birthday, but gets poisoned in the process. Fortunately, he recovered in time and eventually killed the Unknown. Shoichi eventually recovers his memory after falling into the reservoir during his battle and conflict with Gills.

Shoichi's rediscovered memories allowed him to access his Trinity Form, but his amnesia returned before he could make any further progress. After innumerable conflicts, Shoichi would meet the El of the Water once again, who hounded him at all times. The worry and fear of meeting his 'killer' eventually sapped his fighting spirit. But, with the power of Mana, Shoichi regained his courage and entered the terrible Burning Form, defeating the El. Coping with his continually changing abilities proved tough at first. When his previous caretaker, Dr. Kunieda, came to pay him a visit, Shoichi turned into Agito Burning Form, losing his composure in a fit of wrath and accidentally attacking Dr. Kunieda.

Shoichi's soul was weighed down by the shame of the accident, and he descended into self-loathing and pouting over his conduct. But, because to Dr. Kunieda's tough love, he was able to overcome his shame and embrace his identity as an Agito. Dr. Kunieda's remarks served as a reminder to be true to himself and the importance of his life, providing him with the mental and emotional clarity needed to achieve Shining Form and destroy the Beetle Lord. This new commitment and shape would be critical when the El of the Water returns, stronger than before. Its presence allowed Shoichi to regain his memory and, in their final battle, destroy his enemy once and for all. After regaining his memory, Shoichi decides to stay with them and continue living as Tetsuya Sawaki.

Everything went well until Mana tried to ask Shoichi about her deceased father, because Shoichi was the last person her father met before he died. These occurrences eventually expose a horrifying truth: Shoichi's sister is the one who accidentally killed Mana's father, Nobuyuki Kazaya, due to her inability to control the Agito power. Shoichi is beginning to distrust the Agito power within him, believing that he should remain amnesiac indefinitely. Things only become worse when Mana grows to despise him, causing Shoichi to no longer want the Agito power and freely surrender it to the Overlord. Despite this, Shoichi could not allow the Lords to continue their killings since Ericius Liquor began targeting Mana. Shoichi is then mistakenly hit by the Lord's quill, but Kino saves him before the wound kills him. Shoichi and the gang arrive at the place to be greeted by the Overlord, who decides to kill them all. Mana, who had discovered the truth from Ryo, urges Shoichi to fight as Agito once more as he approaches the Overlord and, with Hikawa's help, manages to land a punch on him. Shoichi, Ryo, and Kino all at last acquire their own abilities. And they vanquish the Hedgehog Lord collectively.

He later runs across Kuramoto, his former cooking instructor, who offers him a job working in his restaurant. After a period of low supernatural killings, Shoichi accepts the position under his mentor. While employed there, he meets Kana, a solitary and aloof young woman who aspires to become a successful chef in memory of her father. However, Kana starts to exhibit characteristics of an Agito herself. Like Shoichi's sister, she tries suicide after failing to accept the change. As history starts to repeat itself, Shoichi clings desperately to Kana. Just as he is ready to give up, however, Tetsuya Sawaki—the real Shoichi Tsugami—as well as Yukina's resurrected ex-boyfriend intervene and assist Shoichi in rescuing Kana, thus atoning him for having failed to save Yukina from the same fate in the past. After the gang is briefly attacked by the El of Earth, Shoichi changes in front of Kana and promises to fight for the Agitos, humanity, and himself.

Final Battle against El Lords and Overlord/Theos[]

Agito fights the El until the Lord overwhelms him in Ground and Burning Form, but he is still able to inflict deadly wounds on the El in Shining Form. Agito then pursued El after he had escaped, coming across the Overlord, who was attempting to exterminate all humans. The combined might of El of Earth and El of Wind eventually overwhelms him, and by the time Hikawa and Ryo show up to help, Shoichi has taken on Agito Shining Form for the last time and is fighting the Overlord to save humanity. After both El Lords defeated by the combined effort of Kamen Riders, Overlord attempted to escape from the Riders. After Overlord's attempt to escape, Shoichi uses his Shining Rider Kick on him. The Rider Kick causes a huge explosion on them. But both Overlord and Shoichi survived the explosion with the former losing his physical form and warns Tetsuya Sawaki while the later survive the battle and opened his own restaurant called Restaurant Agito.

Agito then boards his Machine Tornador but unfortunately in the end, he is defeated in the Rider War.

Due to finishing move collisions, their fight seems to be deadlocked, and they are transformed into Lockseeds until ZX and Gaim release the remaining 14 sealed Primary Riders during the decisive fight with Badan. Decade rode the Agito Tornador to the Mega Reversal Machine in order to save Shu.

Super Hero Taisen GP: Kamen Rider 3[]

Shoichi was brainwashed and assumed the identity of Shocker Rider Agito as a result of Shocker's distortion of the timeline. Hibiki teamed forces with Decade, Skyrider, Super-1, ZX, and the Shocker Combatmen to take on Kamen Rider 3, a double agent. He used the combined power of Burning Form to launch a combined projectile attack, and then he physically overpowered Rider 3 to allow Mach to escape.

Agito participated in the Rider Grand Prix the next day as one of several Shocker Riders under the leadership of Shocker Rider 3, who had been personally challenged by Kamen Rider Drive. Agito discovered that Mach's Signal Tomarle had rendered his Rider Machine, Machine Tornador, immobile during the race, along with Decade, OOO, and Fourze. Even though Agito quickly pushed on, he and Wizard were eventually eliminated from the competition when Rider 3's TriCyclone fired missiles at their Machine.

Even though the valiant Drive's Tridoron brought forth the Dream Vegas Shift Tire to retrieve Agito, he was unable to go to the Top 2, where Drive defeated Rider 3. Agito was one of the Riders who fought Drive after Rider 3 was incorporated into the Rider Robo form of the Great Leader of Shocker. Agito was caught in the crossfire as the Rider Robo entered the battle. At last, the Double Riders 1 and 2 emerged from within the Rider Robo, seemingly cured of Shocker's brainwashing of the slain Riders, allowing the remaining Riders to band together for one last fight against Shocker. Regretfully, Agito was one of the Riders whose identities were removed by the Rider Robot. But when Shurikenjin TridoronIcon-crosswiki ultimately destroyed the Rider Robo, Agito's fate was moot and his place in history was reinstated.
