Levan Fuu (レヴァン・フウ Revu~an Fū?) is a character from the manga Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, the second season of its OVA adaptation and subsequent compilation movie.
Personality & Character[]
The leader of the South Seas Alliance, a military faction that aligned with the Earth Federation. He is a Buddhist priest (僧正 (Sōjō?)) who inspires immense trust from his adherents, who are drawn to his charisma. It's suspected that he obtained information on the Reuse Psycho Device recovered during minesweeping work after the end of the One Year War.
History[]
Starting at the age of twelve, Levan Fuu spent fifteen years as a subject of human experimentation at a Federation Newtype Research Institute, where they studied Newtypes to draw out and strengthen their abilities. The experiments ultimately caused him to suffer brain damage. Levan Fuu lost the ability to speak and was given a prognosis of having only a year left to live. Monica Humphrey allowed him to be discharged from the program, and gave him a container of incense.
In 0079, at the request of the Earth Federation, he led a group of South Seas Alliance monks during the last phase of the One Year War to conduct minesweeping and recovery of soldier's remains in space so they could receive proper burials. While performing their duties, they collected the escape pod used by J.J. Sexton to escape the Dried Fish, and the Reuse P Device data with him. Levan Fuu's life is prolonged by using technology reverse-engineered from Psycommu technology from a recovered Elmeth bit to develop microscopic machines to constantly repair his damaged brain, although he still does not speak. Instead, he communicates to people who are sensitive to Newtype phenomenons, showing them images or voices. In doing so, he is able to create a cult and infiltrate spies into the Zeon remnants and Earth Federation.
