Squire For Hire is the third studio album by New Zealander singer-songwriter Nathan Haines. It was released in late June 2003 by Festival Mushroom Records in New Zeland and on 9 August 2003 by Chillifunk Records in the UK.
A repackaged version of the album, titled The Return Of The Squire (For Hire), was released the following year in early February 2004 in New Zeland and March 2004 in the UK, including a second disc with remixes and a music video.
Information[]
Within the vast array of collaborations Squire For Hire possesses, which includes famous artists such as Marlena ShawW and Guida de PalmaW, the album gained notoriety for the track FM, a cover of the Steely DanW song of the same name, which features guest vocals by Damon Albarn, credited as 2-D in the album's liner notes, likely due to the falsetto he employed on his vocals.
The album was produced by long-time Haines collaborator and Restless Soul collective founding member Phil Asher, the cover art photograph was taken by photographer Kerry Brown and the package design was done by London-based agency Delete.
