Gorillaz.com was a website where Gorillaz fans could go to find their music and at one point enter and interact with the characters at their HQ at the time (Kong Studios & Plastic Beach). The Gorillaz website is often mistaken as the place where to find the band's merchandise and physical copies of their music, which is found at Store.Gorillaz.com. (or G-Shop) The website was run and Made by the Zombie Flesh Eaters.
Phase One (1998-2002)[]
The Gorillaz website originated as the place where new Gorillaz fans could go to check out the fictional world of Gorillaz. Gorillaz.com was originally set in Kong Studios where the player/ visitor could go around Kong to explore and find each band member's room, which normally featured games and little extras. The visitor could also find other rooms in Kong, including The Cinema, Cafe and The Studio. A tour of the website could be found on the Celebrity Take Down DVD. The tour was given by MEL. The Phase one Kong Studios only lasted until 2002, when the band left Kong to go work on a movie in LA, America. Kong eventually closed down on October 31st, 2002. Post the abandonment of Kong a porta cabin was put in place to work as a control center.

Phase Two (2004-2008)[]
Phase two Kong Studios was probably the most unfortunate time for the website. Along with the reopening of the website on December 4th, 2004 new rooms were added to Kong, including The Hell Hole and The Bunker. The new Gorillaz.com now had a newly renovated version of Kong Studios where the colour of the walls and room had changed. The website was properly functioning from 2004-2005, until the dramatic incident in the El Mañana Video, where Noodle had been presumed dead. Soon after the joy and somewhat peace of Kong left with her, causing the place to fall apart over time. 2-D left to get a law degree and Russel left to remix different Gorillaz songs. Soon after Murdoc left Kong to venture around the world. Then in 2006 Phase Two: Slowboat To Hades DVD was released which showed Kong in the state that it was in at the time. Soon after the website didn't update as much before Noodle’s disappearance. That was until 2008 when Kong Studios was put up for sale on the website Murdoc got it from, Gicantichauntedstudiomansionsinthemiddleofnowhere.com. Then on June 25th, 2008, Murdoc burnt Kong to the ground. He then got the helicopters from the Feel Good Inc. Video and fled from the scene after cashing in on the insurance and blaming the incident on a bunch of kids that were arrested.

Phase 3 (2010-2014)[]
In a similar fashion to Phase 1 and 2, each website was in the fashion of the album that was released at the time. So when the Gorillaz.com website went offline in 2008, since the making of Plastic Beach had started, The Zombie Flesh Eaters had started work on the new Gorillaz website. The new website, launched in 2010, was similar to the prior Kong Studios website but was instead set in Gorillaz's new home Plastic Beach. The Plastic Beach website featured the Plastic Beach Web Game and other nice touches, like different tasks to do at Plastic Beach. In fashion to Phase 1 and 2 the website featured games, the band members rooms and other features. After Jamie Hewlett went to Paris, during the hiatus between him and Damon Albarn, the Zombie Flesh Eaters eventually disbanded in 2010, despite the website still running for 4 years (2010-2014). Along with the decline of any music coming from Gorillaz. In 2014 the Plastic Beach website shut down.

Phase 4 2017 - Present Day[]
Since The Zombie Flesh Eaters' disbandment in 2010, there hasn't been an interactive website like before. Since Gorillaz released Humanz, the Gorillaz website has since been used to promote their new music. The website has been like this through Phase 4 to the present day. Although Humanz got a Mixed Reality App, there hasn't been an interactive website or app since. Now the Gorillaz website leads to the Store, videos, tours and quizzes.
