The Sisters is the twelfth episode of the second season of The Golden Girls, and the thirty-seventh episode overall. Directed by Terry Hughes, and written by Christopher Lloyd, it premiered on NBC-TV on January 3rd, 1987.
Dorothy arranges for Sophia's sister, Angela, to fly from Sicily to Miami as a surprise gift for Sophia's birthday, not realizing that Sophia and Angela have been feuding for decades, over what turns out to be a big misunderstanding.
This is the first episode of The Golden Girls to air in 1987.

The woman in a black floral dress at the birthday party is the same woman who Sophia's boyfriend, Tony, cheats on her with in "Long Day's Journey Into Marinara".[2]

When the girls talk in the kitchen, the amount of chocolate cake on the plate changes between shots.
When Blanche tells the others about her cheerleading contest against her sister, she talks about twirling batons as well as cheerleader moves. Cheerleaders to not twirl batons, but majorettes do.
