Thracia 776

Petrify (Japanese: ストーン Stone) or stone (Japanese: 石化 Petrification) is a recurring status effect which first appeared in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. In most games it appears in, it causes the unit to be completely unable to move or act, functioning as a stronger form of sleep. Petrify tends to be difficult to restore, as it typically does not wear off with time, and in the case of Thracia 776, only one rare staff is capable of curing it.

Petrification also serves as a plot point in Thracia 776: the tome inflicting the status is the property of Veld of the Loptr Church, and early in the game he petrifies Eyvel, whose subsequent rescue is one of Leif's primary motivations for the rest of the game.
