Etymology[]
Wolfssegner were elderly men of Bavaria who created charms to protect against wolves and wolf attacks in the 16th and early 17th centuries. By the late 16th century, they were hunted and persecuted as witches and by the early 17th century they were hunted, tried and executed as werewolves.
Mánagarmr is the alternative name for Hati Hróðvitnisson, a Norse wolf that chases the moon. Mánagarmr literally means "Moon Hound" and Mánagarm is an anglicized version of the name.
