SoulSavers come back every time they are killed, so it's better to leave them alone.
Final Fantasy VI PlayStation Bestiary entry
The Soul Saver is a boss in Final Fantasy VI. Two accompany Wrexsoul in the depths of the Dreamscape.
Stats[]
Battle[]
The Soul Savers attack with Blizzaga, Thundaga, and Firaga every turn, and when low on MP, uses Magic Drain to absorb MP from a party member. They cast Reflect on themselves when Wrexsoul is present, and heal him. If killed, the Soul Saver immediately revives. With their low HP and simple attacks, the Soul Savers are mere nuisances. Their true purpose is due to how battles work in terms of programming: when Wrexsoul possesses a party member, it is technically removed from the battle, and so if only Wrexsoul were present, the battle would instantly end when it leaves the screen as there would be no remaining enemies. The Soul Savers exist to be present when Wrexsoul is not so the battle continues in spite of his absence.
Strategy[]
An easy way to end the battle is to cast Banish on the Soul Savers. Banish delays the killed enemies' final attack and Soul Savers' final attack is to revive themselves. Thus, when a Soul Saver is killed by Banish, it will not revive. Though it may takes several casts, when the Soul Savers are killed, the battle ends even though Wrexsoul was never killed. Doing this will forfeit the Guard Bracelet Wrexsoul drops, however.
