Frozen is negative status in Final Fantasy VI. It is not named in-game, although the word "Frozen" is used in the flavored text of the inflicting abilities. Those afflicted will have their ATB bar halted. The affected cannot act or evade attacks. Frozen will eventually wear off even if not healed, though it takes nearly twice as long as stop or sleep statuses.
The status is removed at the end of battle. When frozen, the party member's battle sprite turns blue and static. If Terra is frozen solid while tranced, and the trance bar runs out during her frozen state, she will be permanently tranced for the duration of the battle. A frozen character is still given a running animation for fleeing, even though they are unable to flee.
Abilities[]
The player does not have access to abilities that inflict Frozen. However, Gau has access to this status through the Fiend Dragon Rage and its ability Northern Cross, and no enemy or boss has immunity to said status.
