Gold Needles are an effective way of gaining ABP because they instantly kill the enemies in the basement of Bal Castle. This method also works on all stone based enemies, making it a somewhat limited, but still fairly useful trick to remember. The enemies that can be killed instantly with Gold Needle are: Undead Husk, Stone Golem, Adamantite Golem, Headstone, Stone Mask, Ushabti, and Objet d'Art. If the player uses a Gold Needle on Alte Roite, he will just heal himself.
In the Game Boy Advance and 2013 Matrix Software versions, Cannoneers can use Gold Needles with the Combine ability to create Needle Shot, Needle Burst, and Needle Cannon, respectively, each of which are based on 1000 Needles. Shot deals 1000 guaranteed damage, Burst deals 2000, and Cannon deals 3000.

Final Fantasy XIV[]
The properties of this solid-gold needle include curing petrification and pricking fingers.
Item Description
A Gold Needle will remove Petrification from a targeted party member within 5y, but cannot be used to remove the status from oneself. They can be purchased from vendors in Bozja, Eureka, Zadnor, and Norvrandt, and can be crafted by an Alchemist. Not all instances of Petrification are eligible for removal, but as Petrification cannot be removed by Esuna, this item is the only way to remove the status (when possible) before the debuff naturally expires.
Final Fantasy XV[]
A medical instrument that increases blood circulation and disples tension from the body. Cures petrification.
Description
Gold Needle cures Stone status from a party member. It can be bought from shops and found in outpost areas. Stone wears off quickly and makes one invulnerable for its duration, and thus players can simply wait out the status rather than use items to cure it. The Melusine battle is on a timer, however, and thus a stock of Gold Needles can come handy for that battle.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius[]
A curious needle of gold with the power to restore life to those turned to stone. Purified by white mages, the holy essence enters the body through the skin, dissolving the curse of petrification from within. While many speak of the glorious feeling of joints and muscles loosening, it has proven ineffective against common shoulder tightness and back pain.

Etymology[]
The concept for this item could originate from acupuncture (needle therapy). However, the original intent as shown by the early artwork is clearly a sewing needle, rather than an acupuncture needle. Gold-plated needles intended for cloth are reputed to have a smooth glide both through the cloth and when threading, which may be intended as a means of piercing the stone.
