Aeroga is a magic spell in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It is granted by either Wind Materia Wind Materia or Lightning and Wind Materia Lightning and Wind Materia, and is the highest-tier Wind Wind-elemental spell above Aero Aero and Aerora Aerora. Aeroga deals great wind-elemental damage, with a high MP cost and long casting time, and costs two ATB charges. The spell fires a wind projectile at the targeted enemy that pulls them toward the user.

Use[]

Aeroga costs 21 MP to cast with a level 3 wind or lightning and wind materia equipped. The spell is broadly effective in damage output but its prohibitive MP cost and ATB charge use means it should be used only against enemies weak to wind (particularly flying enemies) unless no other spellcasting option of its caliber is available. Among its peers—Firaga Firaga, Blizzaga Blizzaga, and Thundaga Thundaga—Aeroga's strength is in being able to pull enemies toward the user, although it is somewhat less reliable in hitting enemies compared to Firaga and Thundaga.

Aeroga outclasses both Aero and Aerora in terms of raw damage. However, in many situations it will be preferable to cast Aerora, particularly if no two ATB charges are available, or in cases where enemies can easily interrupt the caster during the spell's long cast time. Aeroga is best used against enemies already staggered or otherwise immobile (such as after casting Stop Stop or Sleep Sleep).

Using Support Materia Support Materia can alleviate some of Aeroga's shortcomings and make it better to cast regularly. Swiftcast Materia Swiftcast Materia can eliminate one of its biggest disadvantages in its costly cast time, while Magic Efficiency Materia Magic Efficiency Materia reduces its prohibitive MP cost. Otherwise, HP Absorption Materia HP Absorption Materia and MP Absorption Materia MP Absorption Materia are effective pairings to improve a party member's sustainability. Magic Focus Materia Magic Focus Materia can increase its damage against single targets, and Magnify Materia Magnify Materia can be a powerful way to hit multiple enemies at once with immense damage. Magnify materia is a great pairing if players wish to pull multiple enemies in at once using Aeroga, especially if they have a follow-up attack after doing so.

In some cases, players may wish to bolster Aeroga with two support materia. This can be done by equipping two wind materia (or one wind and one lightning and wind materia) and pairing each up with a support materia. Swiftcast for example is effective when used alongside magnify or HP absorption, as is magic efficiency alongside MP absorption. ATB Boost Materia ATB Boost Materia may be beneficial if the player plans on using Aeroga to quickly top up the caster's ATB to full, such as when the enemy staggers.

Using Aeroga with Aerith's Arcane Ward will cast it twice. Further, using Yuffie with Doppelganger when in Arcane Ward can cast Aeroga four times, potentially overwhelming enemies.

If the party member casting Aeroga has unlocked their wind-elemental weapon ability (e.g. Jet Stream for Aerith), Aeroga becomes Aeroga α, which will bestow a wind-elemental sphere to the spellcaster for the rest of the battle (unless the player changes the element with Firaga α etc.) that will supplement small magical wind-elemental damage when defending against certain enemy attacks (perfect-blocking not needed) and when using ATB abilities. The attacks from the "wind sphere" do build stagger and can be critical hits.
