Nautica is a city in Dragon Quest XI. A small city located below the inland sea of Erdrea, it is home for many sea life and merfolk.

Story[]

Road to Yggdrasil[]

The party heads to Nautica in pursuit of the orbs, and find it that one is located here. The party is fasinated they can breathe underwater but note that talking to the queen is the main priority. They eventually meet with Queen Marina who knows of the Luminary's heritage through a second sight. She gives the Luminary the Green Orb while also talking about how bad she feels for Michelle. She also allows the party to be welcome in the sea anytime.

Rise of the Lord of Shadows[]

When Mordegon takes over Erdrea, Marina takes the Luminary into custody and observes that his friends are fighting. She turns him into a fish to survive the depths and help his recovery. Before long after waking from his months long coma, however, the Luminary soon discovers that a monster, Alizarin of the Spectral Sentinels, had found Nautica and sought to destroy it, forcing Queen Marina to throw everything she had into maintaining the protective barrier that kept monsters out of Nautica for so long, which eventually failed, but not before Queen Marina could send the Luminary away to safety from Nautica, protecting him from Alizarin's attack on Nautica.

Nautica will at this point be unable to be Zoomed to until the Luminary retrieves the Yellow Orb from Gyldygga and physically revisits, well after liberating the seas and the Red Orb from Alizerin's foul grasp

In Search of Lost Time[]

Much like the rest of the world fell into various stages of chaos after the descent of Calasmos the Dark One, Nautica too felt the Dark One's foulness.

For Nautica, a malicious Master commander by the name of Bathysfear with a intense hatred for mermaids had broken into Nautica and absconded with the Pearl of Wisdom, leading to Queen Marina to plead the Luminary for it's return, directing him to a otherwise unremarkable spit of land in the eastern waters close to Insula Orientalis.

Upon reaching there, the Luminary's Lorelei's harp will play without warning, and Bathysfear, ever the hater of mermaids, surfaces and draws near to do battle with the Luminary. Upon victory, the Pearl of Wisdom is returned to Queen Marina, and the Queen offers the Sea Queen's conch as thanks, allowing Marina a means to remotely give guidance the Luminary as to where the party needs to go to quell the chaos around Erdrea the Dark One has sparked.
