Runaan[]
Runaan is Ethari's dearly loved husband. They appear to have a very affectionate and trusting relationship, seeing as they communicate about concerns openly. Runaan also pays attention to small things Ethari does and likes, making sure he received his favorite gifts during his birthdays.[1] Ethari forged and gifted Runaan the Moon Opal pendant he wears around his neck. Before Runaan left for his mission, Ethari told him that his matching pendant was a symbol of their love, meaning: "My love will be with you, even when the moon is not". Ethari was devastated learning that Runaan had supposedly died, unaware that he had survived.[2] When Runaan came back to the living world, Ethari assumed that he was a phantom to haunt him and urged him to leave him alone. But as Runaan touched him, Ethari was relieved and shared a passionate reunion kiss with him.[3]
Rayla[]
While in his and Runaan's care, Ethari cared for Rayla and treated her as if she was his own daughter while her parents were away, guarding the Dragon Prince's egg and his family. Ethari, noting Rayla's kindhearted nature, had expressed disapproval to Runaan for training Rayla to be an assassin. After it was believed that she deserted the mission to assassinate King Harrow and Prince Ezran of Katolis, he believed she had done so out of fear instead of malice, but nonetheless reluctantly ghosted Rayla with the rest of the Silvergrove. After her return, he felt a mix of shock and sadness, before eventually acknowledging her, wanting to see her one last time before she departed. He joyfully hugged Rayla before she and Callum headed to the Storm Spire to return Azymondias to Zubeia, whilst offering mounts to aid them in their journey.[2]

Tiadrin and Lain[]
Ethari and Runaan were extremely close to Tiadrin and Lain, considering them their best friends, and were tasked to watch over their daughter while they guarded the Dragon Prince's egg.[2] It is unknown what Ethari thought of Tiadrin and Lain's supposed desertion of the Dragon Prince's egg.

Kim'dael[]
Ethari had heard about Kim'dael's legend as the Bloodmoon Huntress while living in the Silvergrove. He was willing to confront Kim'dael after she attempted to kill Rayla. As Kim'dael battled Runaan, she revealed her intentions to kill him and Ethari so that she could drink their blood and extend her life. However, Ethari and Runaan's collaborative effort were successful in thwarting Kim'dael's plans, which forced her to flee while angrily vowing to take revenge.[4]
