Dixie Kong is a female Kong from the Donkey Kong series. She is Diddy Kong's girlfriend and Tiny Kong’s older sister[4]. She also has two cousins [5], the 3 year old toddler Kiddy Kong and his older brother Chunky Kong. Her first appearance was as Diddy's partner in the game Donkey Kong Country 2. Aside from games, Dixie also appeared in the Donkey Kong Country animated series and in two comics as well.

Dixie Kong appears in almost all Donkey Kong games and in some Mario spin-off titles. She is playable in almost all of the games she appears on. Dixie was the first female Kong to be playable, although Candy Kong was the first female Kong to appear in the series.

Species[]

The Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest Instruction Booklet initially refers to Dixie Kong as a monkey.[6] This was also the case in the Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! Instruction Booklet.[7]

Rare's description of the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy refers to her as a "young chimp"[8], something fans latched on to due to her lacking a visible tail (like the one Diddy uses to grab things) relying on her ponytail to grab things instead.

History[]

To Donkey Kong's Rescue[]

Dixiejump

Dixie Kong's artwork from the game Donkey Kong Country 2.

Her first appearance was in Donkey Kong Country 2. In this game, Donkey Kong was kidnapped by Kaptain K. Rool. As such, Diddy and Dixie had to travel to Crocodile Isle, home of the Kremlings, to rescue him. On their way, Diddy and Dixie had to defeat many Kremlings, aquatic animals and even ghosts on a few occasions. They eventually defeated Kaptain K. Rool, saved DK and also blew up Crocodile Isle. Although the game centered on Diddy's quest to prove he was a great video game hero (in the likes of Mario, Yoshi, and Link), his sidekick Dixie manages to prove her worth as well. In this game, she is overall slower than Diddy but has her signature ability: Helicopter Twirl, which is essential during the game to get across large gaps.

In the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 2, the plot was the same, but there were some small differences in other things. Swanky Kong will now count the time it took for Dixie, or Diddy, to replay and beat boss stages. Dixie and Diddy can also complete Wrinkly Kong's task, which consists of filling a Scrapbook with pictures. Dixie can now play minigames at Funky's Flights II, where her sister, Tiny Kong, makes a cameo appearance during some missions.

The Revival of Crocodile Isle[]

The Crocodile Isle was risen from the sea in the game Donkey Kong Land 2. Donkey Kong is kidnapped by the Kremling Krew once again and Dixie and Diddy Kong went again to save him. In the end, Kaptain K. Rool was defeated again, Donkey Kong is saved and Crocodile Isle was destroyed for a second time and for good. It is also the first time that Dixie appears on a handheld game.

The Star of the Show[]

Dixiewalking(DKC3)

In the game Donkey Kong Country 3, Dixie emerges as the lead character of her own game alongside co-star Kiddy Kong[9]. Donkey and Diddy decide go on a vacation to the Northern Kremisphere, leaving Dixie behind. The two Kongs do not return for a while, leading Dixie to head the Northern Kremisphere to find them. Early in her adventure, Funky Kong (working at Funky's Rentals) asks Dixie to babysit her cousin Kiddy Kong. The duo eventually discover a new group of Kremlings, led by their new mysterious leader KAOS. During their quest, Dixie and Kiddy also have to free the Banana Birds hidden across the Northern Kremisphere.

However, it turns out that K. Rool, in the guise of Baron K. Roolenstein, was controlling KAOS from behind the scenes, and had kidnapped DK and Diddy to use their cerebral energy to power KAOS. Dixie and Kiddy defeat K. Roolenstein and rescue DK and Diddy. After discovering the hidden world Krematoa, Dixie and Kiddy face K. Roolenstein for a second time inside the Knuatilus. Once all the Banana Birds are freed, they take Dixie and Kiddy up to the clouds to free the Banana Bird Queen, who had been imprisoned by K. Roolenstein, and afterwards the three give chase to K. Roolenstein who is riding away on a hovercraft.

In the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 3, the plot is the same, but now Dixie and Kiddy have to collect more Banana Birds. Dixie can now go and play minigames at Cranky's Dojo or at Funky's Rentals. Swanky Kong has a new minigame that only Dixie can play, called Swanky's Dash. In the same game version, the Northern Kremisphere has also a new location to explore, the world Pacifica.

Search for the Lost World[]

In the game Donkey Kong Land III, Dixie once again teams up with her baby cousin Kiddy. Donkey and Diddy Kong go off on an adventure, this time searching for The Lost World, and, again, they leave Dixie behind. Dixie decides to find the Lost World herself first. Unbeknownst to all, Baron K. Roolenstein has returned with his Kremlings, and he too is searching for the Lost World. In the end, Dixie and Kiddy discover the Lost World and defeat K. Roolenstein all over again.

Back to the Light[]

After an five year hiatus, Dixie was planned to makes a physical appearance in Diddy Kong Pilot, but was unpublished by the time Rare was bought by Microsoft in 2002. She starred in the second chapter.

The Snowmad Invasion[]

Dixie Kong appears in the game Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its switch port. Alongside Cranky and Diddy, she is seen celebrating Donkey Kong's birthday in his treehouse. However, the party is interrupted by the Snowmads. They summon an Ice Dragon that blows the Kongs off Donkey Kong Island, before the Snowmads freeze it over. The primates end up landing on Lost Mangroves.

In the single player mode, the player can summon Dixie Kong as an assist character to Donkey Kong by finding and breaking a DX Barrel inside levels. As the other assist characters in the game, she grants extra health and a continuous roll move. Dixie still can execute the Helicopter Spin, but it no longer allows her to glide in the air. Instead, the move provides a small aerial boost upwards, allowing Dixie to carry Donkey and reach high places or avoid falling into pits. Dixie is also a fully playable character by the second player in the multiplayer, or by the first player in the Hard Mode, where only one character, possessing a single heart of health, can be controlled inside levels. As a playable character, Dixie can execute a similar move to the Donkey Kong's ground-pound by using her ponytail to bash on the ground. When the player uses the same move in the air, Dixie will shot small, bouncing projectiles forward by using a bubblegum popgun. These projectiles can stun regular enemies for a few instants. When she standing by herself, Dixie can also use her Helicopter Spin as an aerial boost in order to reach high places. In fact, considering how Dixie no longer uses her ponytail to pick up objects, she can now use the aerial move while holding to projectiles, such as Barrels.

After the Kongs have traversed five islands by defeating the generals of the Snowmads, they eventually return to the Donkey Kong Island. The island is now covered in thick snow, forcing the primates to move around by using Barrel Cannons. Later, the heroes reach the volcano of the island, where the main galleon of the Snowmads is sitting on the top of it. There, the Kongs face the leader of the invaders, Lord Fredrik, The Snowmad King. After Lord Fredrik is defeated, the Snowmads are thrown out of the island and in the sea. Donkey Kong uses Lord Fredrik's magic horn to restore the original climate of the Donkey Kong Island. At the end, the group of primates is seen celebrating their victory outside of the treehouse by playing some musical instruments, with Dixie Kong playing an electric guitar.

Spin-off Appearances[]

Donkey Konga series[]

DixieKong(DKonga3) 1 (HD)

Aside from remakes, Dixie was not present in any other games, until she appeared as a playable character in the game Donkey Konga 2. It was her first appearance on the Nintendo GameCube. In this game she is one of the three characters available to play different songs with the bongos, and help win money to buy bananas. She also has the option of playing minigames.

She returns in the Japan-only sequel, Donkey Konga 3, as one of the four playable characters. She again plays songs with bongos, this time she can choose from 57 different songs to play. Dixie Kong again helps Donkey Kong get money to buy bananas and can also play different minigames. Also, whenever you finish a level as her in Donkey Kong Country 2 she'll play electric guitar. She likes to sing and even tried to launch her singing career when she rose to stardom after the events of Donkey Kong Country 3 and Donkey Kong Land III (explaining her absence from the game Donkey Kong 64)

Dixie was first called by Diddy Kong. He explained that Timber the Tiger asked him to help him defeat Wizpig, and also help to find out what happened to Drumstick the Rooster, which was converted into a frog by Wizpig.

During the quest they arrived to Dino Domain, and after beating all the challenges in the area Dixie (or one of the other racers) would race the brainwashed Tricky the Triceratops through the valley, if she beat him he will open the Silver Coin challenges. Once all the challenges were completed they could have a rematch against Tricky, if Dixie and the other manage to defeat him the spell on him would break, and Tricky will thank them by giving the piece of Wizpig's amulet he was guarding.

Their next location was Snowflake Mountain, if Dixie and the others managed to beat all the trials they could have a race against Bluey the Walrus in a downhill mountain. After defeating him, he opened the Silver Coin challenges from that area. After the challenges were completed, the racers had the option to challenge him again. After his defeat the spell on him would break and he gave Dixie and the others the second piece of Wizpig's amulet.

Their next location was Sherbet Island, and like in the previous locations after beating the challenges they could race Bubbler the Octopus. After he was defeated he opened the Silver Coin Challenges. Once the Silver Coin challenges were completed Dixie could race him again. Finally after he was defeated and taken out from Wizpig's spell he gave Dixie and the other racers the third piece of the amulet.

Their next location was Dragon Forest, were after beating all the challenges Dixie and the others could race Smokey the Dragon. Like the previous bosses he opened the Silver Coin challenges after being defeated. After he was defeated and taken out of Wizpig's control he gave Dixie and the racers the last piece of the amulet.

With all the pieces of the amulet, Dixie and the other manage to race against Wizpig, whom after being defeated teleports away. Dixie, along all the other racers, held a celebration. During the celebration Wizpig arrives and asks for a rematch, but this time in his planet Future Fun Land. After a long race Dixie and the others defeated him and again held the celebration this time without problems.

Dixie is a default playable character in the game Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. Though her speed is minimum, she has better agility and maximum boost. Dixie's rival is Kass. Her drums are pink and have attached what seems to be sky blue upside down flowers. She attacks with a flip.

In the Single Race cutscene she can be seen, along Donkey, Tiny and Lanky, standing in front of their rivals, Kass, Kritter, Kalypso, and Klump. Also, in the Candy Challenges cutscene, Candy seems to be choosing who will participate in the challenges with Dixie is eagerly raising her hand, while an irritated Kritter seems to tell her to be quiet. In the Options cutscene, she is seen running from side to side while Funky Kong is fixing his bongos.

In the opening cutscene she is seen playing beach volleyball with Diddy and Donkey. Although she is not playable in story mode, she is playable in the game's wireless multiplayer mode as P3. Additionally, she hosts the secret stages, which provide Donkey Kong with several additional DK Coins needed to reach a completion rate of 100 percent.

Other Game Appearances[]

Mario Superstar Baseball[]

Dixie appears as a secret playable character in the game Mario Superstar Baseball, her first appearance in the Mario game series. This was also her first sports game. In this game, she is voiced by Kahoru Sasajima[2]. In the challenge mode she can help Mario and the others beat Bowser and Bowser Jr.

In this game she appears as a sub-character, being a technique character. She has good chemistry with Donkey and Diddy. She uses a stick as a bat, and the sweet spot is the middle of the stick. Her only talent is Clamber (shared by all the Kongs), meaning she can climb walls to catch the ball. In stats, she is bad at batting which is tied with Baby Luigi and Toadete, and medium in running, fielding and pitching.

Dixie Kong returns in the game Mario Super Sluggers, the sequel to Mario Superstar Baseball. She appears as a sub-character. In the Challenge Mode, she is found in the DK Jungle stadium. After being saved from the Dark Bones, Donkey Kong impulsively rushes off to the stone bridge without listening to Dixie, much to her chagrin. She asks Mario and the others to find a stone tablet, suggesting they look near the entrance/exit sign. After doing so, she joins the team, and soon insists that the returning Donkey work with Mario to save the stadium. She does not need to be unlocked in this game.

She has good chemistry with all the Kongs, but she has bad chemistry with King K. Rool and the Kritters. In stats, she is bad at pitching and batting, but she is very good at fielding and running. She uses again a stick as a bat. Her bat entrance includes her jumping and flipping and then prepares to bat. In this game, she is the fastest Kong, but is the worst Kong at batting.

Dixie also has a trophy in her likeness in the game Super Smash Bros. Melee, while Diddy Kong was nowhere to be seen in Melee, except for a mention in her trophy. Her trophy also mentions about her being quick and nimble, and also that one time she helped save Donkey Kong.

  • Dixie Kong's trophy description: "More than just Diddy Kong's girlfriend, Dixie Kong is also a fearless adventurer and a reliable team player. She earned her wings helping Diddy rescue Donkey Kong from the clutches of King K. Rool. Dixie's amazingly quick and nimble, and she's even able to twirl her ponytail in order to float slowly through the air."
Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]

Dixie Kong also appears as a trophy in the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Her trophy mentions about her ponytail helping her for flying and attacking.

  • Trophy description: "Diddy Kong's cutie of a girlfriend with an adorable blond ponytail. That ponytail is hardly for show—it helps propel her through the air for extended hang time and is indispensable for spin-attacking enemies and lifting barrels. Watch out—Dixie packs more power than you might imagine!"

She also has a sticker based on her appearance from Donkey Konga 2. Her sticker increases launch resistance by thirty nine and can only be used by Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong.

According to Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Super Smash Bros series, Dixie Kong was planned to be a partner character to Diddy Kong. It was intended that the player could switch between the two like the Ice Climbers duo, but this idea was cut due to technical difficulties with implementing it, thus Dixie's playable appearance was scrapped and Diddy Kong was kept in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a solo fighter instead.[10]

    • European version: "Dixie Kong is all about style and substance. Just look at her ponytail. It's not just a fashion statement - she can spin it to fly up into the air, swim against strong currents, and even throw barrels with it, no problem! No wonder Diddy Kong likes her!"

In Super Mario Odyssey, there is a street in New Donk City named "Dixie Street", as well as a sign by the Crazy Cap shop reading "Dixie Theater".

Appearances in Other Media[]

Donkey Kong Country animated series[]

Dix

Dixie Kong as seen during the episode "Klump's Lumps" from the Donkey Kong Country animated series.

Dixie Kong made sporadic appearances on the Donkey Kong Country animated series. On the show, her personality was drastically different than the one portrayed in the games. Her clothing was also different, somewhat resembling what her sister, Tiny Kong, wears. Often, Dixie would lose her various pets. She was also more trusting than the other Kongs, befriending General Klump, who had been fired and exiled by King K. Rool, when no one else would during the episode "Klump's Lumps". She was the only Kong included in the show that made her debut in the game Donkey Kong Country 2.

Her first appearance in the animated series is during the episode "Kong for a Day". In this episode, she cheers up Donkey after Funky got mad with him. When they are in the jungle, a Krusha imitates Donkey's voice and tricks Dixie, making her believe that Donkey was saying bad things about her and Diddy. Later on, Dixie congratulates Diddy on being named the new future ruler of Kongo Bongo before Cranky's hologram appears to tell Diddy of K. Rool planning an attack on Bluster's Barrelworks.

In the episode "From Zero to Hero", she is one of the characters to see Cranky's new experiment, the x-ray machine. When Bluster decides to cut Candy, saying he has more rights than her and the others just because he is rich and calls him the most promising citizen in Kongo Bongo, Dixie calls him inconsiderate. The next day, she is the one that informs Cranky, Donkey, and Diddy that King K. Rool had the Crystal Coconut and Bluster was heading to his hideout to get the coconut back, an attempt that all four knew was suicide.

During the episode "Buried Treasure", she convinces Candy to accompany Bluster on following DK, Diddy, and Funky, who on a treasure hunt to the White Mountains. After the treasure is found, Dixie and Candy get into a four-way scramble for it with the duos of Donkey and Diddy, Funky and Bluster, and King K. Rool and Krusha. In the end, the treasure turns out to be rotten bananas buried by Donkey Kong in his youth.

In the episode "The Curse of Kongo Bongo", Dixie and the other apes a letter that was the "Curse of the Double Baboon". DK and Diddy tried to warn her and Funky not read the letters, but she misheard them and nearly read it until they dropped them.

She does not appear in the episode "It's a Wonderful Life". It is unknown what happened to her if DK never existed it is possible she is Diddy's queen and is his girlfriend just like did DK did exist.

In the English version of the animated series, Dixie was voiced by Stevie Vallance[3].

Super Mario Bros. Movie[]

Dixie appears sitting next to Diddy at the stadium.

Donkey Kong 64[]

Although Dixie does not appear in Donkey Kong 64, Cranky mentions her a few times in the manual. The game marks the debut of Dixie's sister, Tiny Kong, whose abilities are similar to Dixie's.

Comics[]

Bumm-Badabumm Im Urwald[]

Dixie was also one of the main characters in the Donkey Kong comic, "Bumm-Badabumm Im Urwald". Here, she aided both Diddy and Donkey Kong in tracking down their stolen bananas and defeating Kaptain K. Rool and the Kremling Krew. She went to Donkey Kong's house, because she heard noises, there Donkey informs her and Diddy that all the bananas are gone. After, they go and check if their banana depot is also without bananas, and they realized that it's empty as well, Dixie finds a hole from were the thieves entered. Diddy enters the hole and finds a Kremkoin, then they realize that the Kremlings are behind the disappearance of the bananas and decide to give the Kremlings a lesson.

The three of them enter the hole that leads to the jungle. Then Dixie notice a wasp, and quickly Donkey throws it a barrel. Dixie looks at the stings and says that a sting would have hurt. In the way they find Rambi and the three of them ride him, afterwards they find themselves having around many Kremlings. Rambi takes out all the Kremlings, and they continue their way to King K. Rool. After they reach the mountains Rambi leaves them. They start climbing the mountain, until they arrive to a place where a rope should be, the Kremlings pulled the rope up, Donkey throws Dixie upwards so she can let the rope down. After they reach the top, a Necky starts attacking them, but Donkey took him out quickly. Afterwards they reach the portal, but its locked, they successfully opened with the Kremkoin. Inside the portal they are attacked by Kremlings. After beating the Kremlings, a giant Kremling appears, the Kongs escape from him through a narrow tunnel.

In the tunnel, they find a mine cart. They start racing against the Kremlings, but as the distance between them increased, the mine cart turned less safely. Then, the rails ended, and the Kongs landed on a swamp. Diddy then realizes they are not the only ones swimming in the swamp, Krockheads are all around them. They all quickly go up to a crashed boat, and while thinking, Donkey remembered something, he started to jump on flies until he reached land, Diddy and Dixie did the same. Dixie realized they were in the Lost World. Dixie climbs a wall and sees King K. Rool on the other side with all the bananas. Suddenly, Dixie falls and the Kremlings see her, Donkey and Diddy quickly jump and help her. A fight against the Kremlings starts. King K. Rool starts shooting pineapples, but Donkey evades them all, he then finds an explosive barrel and throws it to him, which defeats him. The Kongs finally recover the bananas.

Donkey Kong in: Banana Day 24[]

Dixie also appeared in the comic "Donkey Kong in: Banana Day 24". Dixie was sleeping in a palm and is suddenly awakened by Squawks. Afterwards Diddy and Cranky explain to her that it's Christmas, after learning what day it is she suggests to prepare a Christmas party, but suddenly she starts to shiver. The Kongs quickly discover that snow is falling from the sky, something Dixie and the others had never experienced yet. At the TV the Kongs learn that the temperature has dropped all over the world and also that the president of the United States invited for a summit to find a solution to the problem. The Kongs decide to travel to the United States to talk with the president. Dixie and the others ride their Animal Buddies to the nearest airport were they take the Jumbo Barrel to travel to Washington, Dixie along Diddy ride Expresso.

The President tells them that a huge UFO pulling the Earth away from the sun is the cause of the low temperature. He provides them with a space shuttle, and with help of Cranky Dixie and the others are launched into the aliens' space shuttle. At the space shuttle Dixie, Diddy and Donkey, quickly notice the aliens look like them but bigger and green and blue. The Kongs learn that the aliens do not want to dominate Earth, and what really happened is that the aliens thought Earth was a giant Coconut. After giving bananas to the aliens in exchange of them returning Earth to its original temperature, the Kongs head back to Earth were they are hailed by the people for saving them. Back at their jungle the Dixie and the others finally celebrate a Christmas party. At the end Dixie enjoys the starry sky along with her boyfriend.

Physical Appearance[]

In all her appearances so far, Dixie has worn a pink top with a tied knot in the middle, along with a matching pink beret. In one of her artworks she was shown to have an orange band under her pink beret. Dixie's most notable feature is her blonde hair that's usually tied in a long, banana shaped ponytail, which she uses to propel in the air. She also has long, twirled sideburns.

In the Game Boy Advance remakes of Donkey Kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Country 3, instead of her usual pink, Dixie's clothes have been changed to lavender.

For her first few games, Dixie had painted nails and knee wraps, but they were removed in DK: King of Swing and onwards. Now she does not have visible nails, and was given some turquoise earrings. Her beret originally had a Rare logo pin, but it was removed after Rare was acquired by Microsoft Game Studios[11] in 2002.

In the Donkey Kong Country animated series, she had blonde fur instead of brown and kept her pink beret, but wore a green shirt with a flower on it (reminiscent of her younger sister Tiny Kong). Her ponytail was also shorter than its game length.

In Donkey Kong Country 3, when playing in two player contest mode, the second player takes control of a Dixie wearing purple clothes. In Donkey Kong Country 2, during a similar mode, along with her purple clothes, the Dixie Kong controlled by the second player also has red hair.

Personality[]

Dixie is lighthearted, lively, and even has a bit of a sass to her, but like Donkey and Diddy, she is courageous with a strong sense of adventure, as she has proved herself a worthy ally on many occasions. She has a particular fondness for sweets, such as bubblegum, and can be seen eating honey off walls in the Zinger hive levels from Donkey Kong Country 2. She is also very musically inclined, with her favorite instrument being the electric guitar and favorite music being rock, and has a habit of headbanging her remarkable hair when playing, and likes to sing too.

In the Donkey Kong Country animated series, she is portrayed as a friendly and somewhat childish character. In one of the episodes, she even befriended Klump. She is also shown to really care about the others, and always tries to help her friends. During the show, she had different pets, a lobster and a crab respectively, that she lost frequently.

Powers and Abilities[]

Dixie Kong has a wide range of powers and abilities that she uses throughout games.

  • Helicopter Hair: Dixie's greatest asset is her long, banana-shaped ponytail, which has the ability to spin like a helicopter, allowing Dixie to control her descent to the ground when she’s in the air, and boost her jumps. Usually, she can also use her ponytail to lift barrels and attack enemies.
  • Ground-Pound and Bubblegum Popgun: In the game Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Dixie can also ground-pound, an ability shared by other playable Kongs, but she uses her hair to pound instead of her arms. Dixie also possesses a Bubblegum Popgun, which is reminiscent of Diddy Kong's Peanut Popguns, and can be used to stun enemies from a distance. However, she can only use it while airborne.

Relationships[]

Diddy Kong[]

DixieMeetsDiddy

Dixie Kong's first meeting with Diddy Kong as depicted on pages 88 and 89 of volume 2 of the Uho Uho Donkey-Kun manga.

Diddy Kong is Dixie's boyfriend. Dixie helped him save Donkey Kong during the games Donkey Kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Land 2. After that, she saved both of them in the games Donkey Kong Country 3 and Donkey Kong Land III. Although they are a couple, not much of Dixie and Diddy's relationship has been shown in mainline games.

Dixie is one of the characters called by Diddy in the game Diddy Kong Racing DS.

They appear together in the games Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Super Sluggers, and have good chemistry.

In the Donkey Kong Country animated series episode "Kong for a Day", when she is tricked by the Kremlings in believing DK said bad things about Diddy, she quickly gets mad at DK. In that same episode, she is about to share a kiss with him.

DiddyKissed

Diddy Kong being kissed by a human girl, as seen in the comic Donkey Kong in: Banana Day 24.

JustForUsTwo

Dixie Kong wishing a merry christmas to Diddy Kong, as seen in the comic Donkey Kong in: Banana Day 24.

The German comic Donkey Kong in: Banana Day 24 featured Dixie watching a human girl kissing Diddy, and then she later comments to him about how the stars shine "just for us two".

Donkey Kong[]

Dixie seems to have a good friendship with Donkey Kong, who acts something of a big brother to her. In Donkey Kong Country 2, Donkey Kong Land 2, Donkey Kong Country 3 and Donkey Kong Land III, she helped in saving him from Kaptain K. Rool and Baron K. Roolenstein. She explains the extra levels to him in Jungle Climber. In Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Super Sluggers, the two of them share chemistry. In Mario Super Sluggers challenge mode, there are several conversations between Donkey Kong and Dixie.

In the Donkey Kong Country animated series, she has a good relation with DK. In episode Kong for a Day, she is the only one that goes with Donkey Kong to the jungle when he is prohibited to return to the village.

Tiny Kong[]

Tiny Kong is her younger sister[5]. They have appeared in only a few games together, but they have yet to show any depth in their relationship. In the GBA versions of Donkey Kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Country 3, Dixie had to save her during minigames in the Funky's Flights II and Funky's Rentals, respectively. An interesting fact is that her trophy in the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl did not mention that the two were sisters. The two share tomboyish and girly-girl traits, and also have good chemistry in the game Mario Super Sluggers.

Kiddy Kong[]

Dixie shown to have a really good relationship with her baby cousin and co-star Kiddy Kong, who she sometimes babysits. The latter hero-worships her and sees her as a role-model, as he helped her save DK and Diddy during the events of the games Donkey Kong Country 3 and Donkey Kong Land III. This relationship doesn't stop the cousins from pulling pranks on each other.

Candy Kong[]

Although in the games she does not interact much with Candy Kong, they have a friendship that nearly parallels the one their boyfriends' have in the Donkey Kong Country animated series. In some of the episodes, they are seen together, such as the episode "Buried Treasure", the two of them cooperate with each other to get the treasure.

Other[]

She is hinted to have a good friendship with Funky Kong, as they share positive chemistry in the game Mario Super Sluggers, and she is seen helping him tune his barrel rocket in the game Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. She is also hinted to have a bad relationship with Bowser and Bowser Jr., as she helped beat them and is wary of the trouble the father-and-son pair cause in Mario Super Sluggers.

Trivia[]

  • In a Nintendo Power issue, Dixie Kong was incorrectly called "Daisy Kong".[citation needed]
  • Dixie Kong is the one of the only Kongs whose first name does not end with "y".
  • Dixie Kong in video games and other media has showcased many feats.[12][13]
  • According to Rare, Dixie Kong was absent during the events of the game Donkey Kong 64 because she tried to launch an unsuccessful singing career after the events of the games Donkey Kong Country 3 and Donkey Kong Land III made Dixie rise to stardom. Inheriting that trademark pigtail spin from her sis was just the beginning, as she's also picked up an uncanny shrinking ability somewhere along the way. Is size really everything? 8. ↑ DIXIE KONG: "A wilful and adventurous young chimp, inseparable from Diddy and every bit as stubborn as he is on the issue of how far their friendship goes, despite (or possibly because of) Cranky and Funky's endless teasing. Dixie's main asset in the dangerous situations she always seems to be following DK and Diddy into is her remarkable ponytail, which she can use to whip enemies out of her way, pick up and throw barrels, and even glide through the air helicopter-style. Brave, determined and always fashion-conscious, Dixie makes a loyal friend to Diddy and a formidable Kremling-basher to boot."

  9. ↑ CHUNKY KONG: "Older brother to DKC3 co-star Kiddy, Chunky demonstrates just what the oversized toddler of the family could grow into. Huge boulders prove no obstacle to him, and neither do most Kremlings, so they'd better watch out if they get his usually cheery nature to take a turn for the worse. He might not be the quickest Kong in the world, but he's definitely handy to have around."
