This article is about Billy Maximoff. For the original inhabitant of his body, see William Kaplan.

Then there's Billy, isn't there? Named after William Shakespeare. "All the world's a stage. All the men and women, merely players."
Vision to Wanda[src]

Wiccan (real name William "Billy" Maximoff) is a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who is first featured in the Marvel Disney+ series WandaVision. An alternate version of the character, originating from Earth-838, was featured in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

He is the son of Wanda Maximoff and Vision, and younger twin brother of Tommy Maximoff. He was conceived through the effects of Wanda's chaos magic, which also granted him psionic powers, similar to his mother. Billy was born in Westview, following his mother's accelerated pregnancy, and further aged himself up. As each episode passed, he adapted into a new time period, staring from the 1970s, to the present

After Wanda removed the Hex that barricaded the town, Billy's soul was reincarnated into that of William Kaplan, a thirteen year old, who died from a car crash in Eastview, concurrently as the hex began to fade. Inhibiting this new body, Billy assumed the deceased teen's identity, living as William Kaplan, and would go on to develop an interest in the craft, while questioning his identity. He would later track Agatha Harkness, with whom he formed a coven, to walk down the legendary Witches' Road, in hopes of finding his brother, Tommy.

Wiccan first appears in the third episode of WandaVision and was portrayed by Baylen Bielitz and Julian Hilliard. His reincarnated form first appears in the very first episode of Agatha All Along and is portrayed by Joe Locke.

Billy Maximoff, was created by Steve Englehart and Richard Howell. His reincarnated form, Wiccan, was created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung.

Background[]

Personality[]

At a young age, Billy is shown to be calm and caring. He looks towards his mother, for approval, and is shown to be more well behaved, in comparison to his twin brother, Tommy. Despite this, he isn't above getting into mischievous behavior, something that is more noticeable, when his "uncle" Pietro arrives. He and his brother get into minor squabbles, but they care about each other. Billy is also shown to be good with animals. He trained Sparky, and was also petting Señor Scratchy, at Agatha's home.

Physical appearance[]

After inhibiting the body of William Kaplan, Billy wears a torn gray turtleneck sweater accompanied by a dark blue jacket and ripped jeans. He also has black hair, wears black earrings, and has a scar over his left eyebrow.

While going through the Witches' Road, Billy's attire changes to match the theme of the trial. During the first trial, Billy wears a white sweater with beige pants. During the second, Billy wears a red and white shirt, a blue fur coat, and glittery disco pants. During the third trial, Billy's 80s-inspired outfit references his comic book counterpart, with a red and white shirt and a blue headband. After Teen is injured and bloody, the blood spreads across his blue ripped sweater and turns it red, leaning to his Wiccan costume. When Billy's Wiccan's outfit is properly revealed, he is shown to be wearing a blue one piece with a red cape and a blue crown which is then sometimes covered with a red hood.

WandaVision[]

Following Wanda and Vision's arrival in Westview, Wanda quickly becomes pregnant. Her powers speed up the process of pregnancy, and she gives birth, not long after, with the help of Geraldine and Doctor Nielson. Tommy is born first, and unexpectedly, Wanda gave birth to Billy next, unaware she was pregnant with twins. The Doctor declares the babies healthy, and Wanda puts them to sleep, in a crib. When they begin crying, she sings a Sokovian lullaby to sooth them. After Geraldine leaves, the twins are picked up by Wanda and Vision, who hold them while watching TV.

WandaVision - 1x05 - On a Very Special Episode..

Vision, in attempt to soothe a crying Billy, reads Charles Darwin's The Descent of Man, only it causes him to cry even harder. He places Billy in his crib, alongside his brother, and Wanda tries to hush the twins, by giving them pacifiers, but they both spit them out, and continue crying. At that moment, Agnes arrives and attempts to put the babies to sleep. She sprays lavender, on them, which is supposed to have a calming effect. While Wanda and Vision begin talking privately, the twins leave their crib, and age up to five years. Their parents greet them, and Vision picks up Billy. Some time shortly after, Billy and Tommy come across a stray dog, and take him in. They place him in the kitchen sink, to clean him off, and Billy voices his concern for the dog, who seems not to like the water, but Tommy insists they have to clean him, so their mother will let them keep him. Wanda enters the kitchen, and Billy and Tommy quickly stand in front of the sink, in an attempt to hide the stray, but sees him anyway after hearing it bark. Billy asks Wanda if they can keep him, and tries to emphasize his point, by describing the sad state they found him in. Wanda informs them of the responsibilities required in looking after a dog. Vision arrives in the kitchen and greets his family. At the same time, Agnes arrives, with a kennel, for the dog. She asks Billy and Tommy if they named him, and Billy suggests Sniffy, but after the dog begins messing with an electric socket, and sparks fly, they settle on Sparky. Billy asks Vision if Sparky is their dog, but their parents affirm, that they don't think the pair will be able to be responsible for a dog, until they're ten years old. Billy and Tommy look at each other, smiling, and the twins age up, another five years, now reaching ten years old. Billy begins training Sparky to perform tricks, and performs them in front of his mother and brother. The pair are eager to show their father, but Wanda reveals that he's at work, as he was in need of a distraction. The boys believe themselves to be the cause, and Wanda explains to them, that as a couple, they aren't always on the same page, but it's temporary, and compares her relationship, to theirs, as they will always be brothers, because family is forever. Wanda also talks about her brother, who isn't with them, which makes her sad, when Sparky suddenly jumps out of Billy's arms, and begins barking at the door. He wonders whats wrong with his dog, and when Wanda opens the door, Sparky runs out. Billy, Tommy and Wanda go out, to see where he went, and the three see an imaging drone in the air. A voice emerges from it asking their mother to talk with them. Once the drone is gone, Billy and Tommy walk around the neighborhood, searching for Sparky. They run into Dennis the Mailman, who reassures them their mother wont let him get far, and when they reach Agnes' house, they find her emerging from her bushes, holding Sparky, dead and covered in a sheet. She states she didn't want to come, until she wrapped him up, and explains he died, after eating leaves from her azalea bushes. She apologizes to them, and as they begin crying, Wanda urges the pair, not to age themselves up. She explains that she knows the urge to run from their grief is powerful, and Billy tells her it's too sad. When Tommy asks why she cant resurrect him, she tells them there are rules in life, and they cant rush aging, because it's convenient, or reverse death. Billy tells her, she stated family was forever, and Tommy repeats his request to have Wanda resurrect him, when Vision arrives. He questions who they're talking about, and when he sees Sparky, he consoles the boys.

WandaVision Episode 6 Photo 9

Billy appears, in the sixth episode's opening sequence, trying to take the camera off his brother, Tommy. When the episode begins, he appears in his costume, and talks directly to the audience, about the magic of Halloween, and what makes it important. He asks Tommy where his costume is, and Tommy sarcastically replies that he's dressed as the cool twin. Billy asks what that makes him, and Tommy calls him a dorkosaroas-rex, but Billy quickly points out, this inst a real dinosaur. They stumble upon their uncle asleep, on the couch, and Billy is reluctant to wake him, because he's under the belief, that Pietro is a vampire. The twins begin bickering, when Pietro runs towards them, with his super speed, mimicking a vampire, and begins chasing them. The boys begin screaming, and this draws the attention of their mother, who walks downstairs. Billy questions whether Wanda is dressed as old Red Riding Hood, and she informs him, she is a Sokovian fortune teller. Billy tells the audience about their mother's weird behavior, upon Pietro's arrival. Billy, Tommy and Pietro later begin begin playing video games, and Wanda and Vision get into a heated discussion. He then tells the audience, that his parents relationship has been different lately. Pietro later takes the boys trick-or-treating, and the three of them begin smashing jack-o'-lanterns, covering people in silly string and taking candy. When Wanda discovers this, she makes them return it. The evening arrives, and the twins learn of full-size candy bars, a few blocks away from them. Billy asks his mother for permission, but before she can answer, Tommy displays the power of super speed. He begins frantically running, and Wanda tells him, that he needs to take Billy with him, to his excitement. She also tells the boys, not to go past Ellis Avenue. Whilst outside, Billy begins hearing the screams of his father, and another man talking. As Tommy runs over to him, Billy holds out his hand, stopping his speed. Vision's screams get louder, and Billy and Tommy rush to their mother, and he tells her what he heard. Pietro makes a witty retort, on how Vision can't die twice, which angers Wanda. She uses her powers to blast Pietro, to Billy and Tommy's shock. Billy begins panicking and questions what's happening to him, and Wanda tells him to focus. Through brief visions, he sees soldiers surrounding his father's dying body.

WandaVision Episode 7 Photo 3

The morning passes, and Billy and Tommy begin play video games. As they do so, the controllers, alter into older version, before changing into joysticks, and then turning into Uno cards. The pair head to their mother's room and ask if she's going to come down. Billy's telepathic powers begin manifesting, to a greater level, and he complains to his mother, that he doesn't like the loud noises. She tells the boys she's resting her eyes, and they return downstairs. They fight over a Wii remote, when Wanda comes down, in her robe, and walks past them, without intervening. The pair exchange a look, and Billy shrugs. While playing video games, Wanda asks if the boys have seen their dad. Tommy replies they haven't and Billy suggests they go look for him, but Wanda simply tells them that if he doesn't want to be there, there's nothing they can do. Billy questions his mother, on what their uncle said about re-killing Vision, and she warns the pair not to believe anything he says, as he isn't their uncle. She confesses to the boys that as their mother, they expect her to have all the answers, and she has none, and emphasizes this point. She admits she's starting to believe everything is meaningless and, Billy and Tommy look at each other, in concern. A knock is heard and Agnes arrives. She grows worried upon viewing Wanda's behavior, and suggests taking the boys. Billy insists that they should remain home, to take care of their mother, but Wanda claims she'll be fine. The boys settle on Agnes' couch, and Billy begins to pet Señor Scratchy. Having arrived at the house, his powers become dampened. Agnes asks what Billy is thinking, and he tells her, he like it there, because it's quiet, and so is she, on the inside. When Tommy asks if she thinks their mother will be okay, Agnes reassures the two, that they don't have to worry.

Unbeknownst to Billy and Tommy, Agnes is an alias, used by the witch, Agatha Harkness. She takes the twins hostage, and uses them to blackmail Wanda. When she refuses to cooperate with her, Agatha conjures the screams of Billy and Tommy, who beg for their mother. When Agatha learns of Wanda's true nature, she returns to Billy and Tommy, and places them in a choke, with a magical wire attached their throats, as she levitates in the air. Wanda reaches them, and the boys call out for her, pleading for that she save them. Agatha strengthens her hold on the boys, and confronts Wanda, as she continues choking them.

WandaVision - 1x09 - The Series Finale - Billy Powers

Agatha lands on the ground, and the boys attempt to run towards their mother, but she pulls the wires against their throat back, pushing them, onto the ground. Wanda blasts her back, and orders them to return to their room, though the pair insist on helping, until Agatha rises back, and urges them to listen to their mother. She instructs the twins to leave, and the boys return, through Tommy's super-speed. They try peering through the window, to see if they can catch their parents in action, and Billy has a vision of his mother in trouble, prompting them to leave her for assistance. While on their way way, Wanda begins lowering the barrier that surrounds Westview. As Billy and Tommy are the result of Wanda's magic, they too, begin fading, with the Hex. The boys fall to the ground, shouting for their mother's help, and upon seeing them, she restores the Hex to its original state, also restoring them back in the process. The boys reach their parents, and Wanda shields them from an attack by Agatha, in turn, losing some of her power to the witch. As a result, her hands regress, and Billy asks if she's okay, to which Wanda nods to. Agatha swoops in, while White Vision and S.W.O.R.D. arrive on scene. Wanda and Vision tell the pair that while they may not have prepared them for this fight, they were born for it. Vision takes on his white counterpart, while Wanda battles Agatha, and she has them handle the military. The men leave their vehicles, and aim their firearms, so Billy uses his power, to immobilize the agents, while Tommy disarms them. The pair however, fail to see Director Hayward, who leaves his car, and tries shooting at them, when Monica Rambeau, jumps in front, to protect them. Billy watches as the bullets pass through her, emerging without their momentum, and when one almost hits him, he catches it with his powers. Monica praises the boys powers, and Billy returns the compliment. Vision exits the library, having ended his conflict with his white counterpart, and the boys reunite in their father's arms. Billy observes, Wanda and Agnes take their battle into the sky, with Agatha appearing to be on the triumphant side, as she drains Wanda's magic, leaving her almost lifeless. Billy and Tommy call out for her, and Vision pulls their faces into his chest, to shield them. Wanda manages to best Agatha, transforming into the Scarlet Witch, and returns the two to the ground, victorious in battle, and they witness her transform Agatha, into her fake persona of Agnes. They run to embrace her, and the family return home. Wanda puts Billy to bed and Vision comments on the day they've had. Wanda and Vision tell the boys they're proud of them, and she reminds the two that a family is forever, and they couldn't truly leave each other, even if they tried. She and Vision kiss the boys goodnight, and before they leave, Wanda thanks the boys for choosing her to be their mother. She shuts off the lights, and closes the door, as Billy and Tommy prepare for bed. As they do, the Hex begins drawing in on itself, until it eventually disappears, and Billy and Tommy, seemingly fade away from existence.

Sometime after this, Wanda begins studying the Darkhold while astral projecting, and she hears the cries of Billy and Tommy, calling out for her.

Agatha All Along[]

Agatha All Along - 1x06 - Familiar by Thy Side - Billy Kaplan Dies

Billy's soul is transferred into the body of William Kaplan

Billy Maximoff's soul is reincarnated into the physical form of a teenage boy called William Kaplan. During the disintegreation of the hex, Billy's soul escapes annihilation, and jumps into the body of the thirten year old, William Kaplan, who dies concurrently, in a car crash. This revived Billy, who was looking for his brother Tommy Maximoff. However, shortly afterwards, Billy suffered from amnesia which he suffered with for years. Confused, with no memory of anything before the car crash, Billy felt lost in this teenager's body but went along with being William Kaplan. Over the next three years, Billy/William formed a relationship with a boy named Eddie, feeling loved and at home with Jeff and Rebecca Kaplan. Feeling that the loss of his memories were related to what happened in Westview, Billy started researching everything, until he eventually met with Ralph Bohner, who told him about the incident in Westview, and then reluctantly about Agatha Harkness, which led to the teen searching up about Agatha Harkness and the Witches Road, hoping to find his brother at the end.

Confession, I know an egregious amount about you. I've been obsessed since I first read up on your Salem days. One of my favorite you eras. That's why I saved you from the spell you were under.
―Teen to Agatha Harkness[src]

In 2026, Teen is first seen in an upstairs room at Agatha's house, trying to steal from her. After being spotted by her, he escapes through a pre-opened window and is pursued by Agatha and nearly caught by her after attempting to climb a fence with a dog on the other side. However, he is able to escape her grasp. He continues to run, though he is hit by a white car and is taken into custody. In actuality, this was what Agatha saw due to Wanda's spell on her affecting her perception of reality. There was no dog, nor fence, and he had actually just bumped into an open car door, rather than getting hit by one.

Agatha All Along - 1x01 - Seekest Thou the Road - Teen Interrogation

Teen is questioned by "Agnes O'Connor"

At the station (actually Agatha's living room), Teen sits in the interrogation room while Agatha and Rio Vidal, an FBI detective, discuss the break-in. Inside the room, after Teen makes an insulting comment about her (in actuality, he was being polite and respectful to her, but Wanda's spell on Agatha made her see him as acting more hostile than he actually was), he is kicked out of his chair by Agatha, though she is scolded by Rio. Teen is asked what he was searching for in her house, to which he replied, "The road," to the confusion of Agatha. Thinking he is connected to a murder case, Agatha asks him where he was during the time the attack took place. After responding that he was in bed, Agatha opens a folder showing pictures of the previously discovered body and is pressed by Agatha to reveal what he knows about it. Teen is yelled at by her, and quickly says that the pictures she is showing to him are flowers, confusing his interrogator. Agatha turns her head to look at Rio, though she is shocked as she has disappeared from the other side of the wall. Teen is confused by this and asks her why she continues to look at a painting. Agatha begins to say that the wall does not have a painting but is shocked to see it does, taking the place of the window where Rio was. Teen begins to chant in Latin, briefly frightening Agatha, and he is put in a cell for the night. It is later revealed that the Latin chanting was him performing a counterspell on Agatha, to lift what Wanda had cast on her, and he had been going through Agatha's room in order to find an item that held a deep significance to Agatha, so the counterspell could work.

Later, Agatha wakes up after the spell confining her to act as a police detective to a banging behind a door, which is revealed to be Teen, who is gagged and arms tied behind his back. Suddenly, Rio, who is revealed to be a witch, enters the house, and Teen watches her and Agatha fight while still being gagged.

The road is no place for a kid.
I'm sixteen.
Oh sorry. Teen.
Agatha Harkness and Teen[src]

After Rio leaves, Teen is able to release the duct tape covering his mouth using part of a doorframe and tells Agatha to take him to the Witches' Road. Agatha comes toward him and tells Teen that the Witches' Road does not exist. Despite this, Teen convinces Agatha to take him down the road, and she asks him his name. However, when he says it, his voice becomes muffled and a sigil appears over his mouth, though Teen is unaware of this.

Because of their plans to go down the road, Teen and Agatha set out to find the witches necessary to form a coven to gain access to it. After some driving the two arrive at a building named Madame Calderu's Psychic Readings, owned by Lilia Calderu. Inside, Teen poses as Beauford, the son of a grieving widow who wants to know the location of her late husband's gold bars, played by Agatha. As the two begin to leave, Lilia reveals that she knows Agatha is a witch and declines to do business with her. Teen helps Agatha convince Lilia to join their coven to gain access to the road, to no avail. However, Lilia gives them a list of four names to assemble their coven. As they read over the names, Agatha notices that Lilia's name is on the paper she gave to them, and Teen leaves a paper with Agatha's address on a table before they leave.

Next, Teen and Agatha visit Jennifer Kale, a potions expert who runs a candle business. Agatha is unable to convince Jennifer to join her coven, though as Agatha begins to walk out, Teen admits to being a fan of her and points out her pending class-action lawsuits and how she is magically and legally bound. He then hands her Agatha's address.

After the two leave Jennifer's shop, Teen happily exclaims that there are only two witches left to recruit. However, Agatha says there is only one and eats Lilia's paper, to the confusion of Teen.

Agatha All Along - 1x02 - Circle Sewn With Fate ⧸ Unlock Thy Hidden Gate - The Teen and Señor Scratchy

At the mall, Teen is told by Agatha that the next witch is for Alice Wu-Gulliver, the daughter of Lorna Wu, a famous rock artist who recorded the most successful version of "Ballad of the Witches' Road". They find Alice as a guard at a store in the mall, and inside Agatha instructs Teen to run through the detector so Alice would mistake him for a shoplifter. As he does so, he is tripped and apprehended by Alice. Agatha bends down to ask Alice to join them on the road. At that moment, as a security guard enters the store, Agatha accuses Alice of assaulting Teen. As a result, Alice is fired, and Teen and Agatha continue to persuade her to join their coven. Agatha asks Alice a question about her mother, who died on the road, and Alice walks away from them.

On the drive back home, Teen begins to tell Agatha his backstory, but as he does so, his voice becomes muted. As a test, Agatha snaps her fingers and turns up the radio while Teen is talking. She is able to hear the radio clearly, though Teen's voice is still muted. When he is done talking about himself, his voice returns to normal, sparking more confusion.

While Agatha waits outside for the witches to arrive, Teen sets up a beige "welcome coven" sign over her fireplace. Teen asks Agatha if the sign is centered, though instead she rips it off the wall. The witches arrive soon after and Agatha recruits Sharon Davis to be the coven's Green Witch. In the basement, before the witches begin to sing the ballad to open the road, Teen is asked to remain upstairs. There, Teen hears faint whispering coming from the street and goes to investigate. Teen sees a lone figure hooded in a black cloak standing in the middle of the road. John Collins, a resident of Westview, is also present and asks Teen if he sees the figure as well. As Teen watches the figure, six more suddenly appear from behind it, causing John to run off. In unison, the Salem Seven slowly walk towards the house, and Teen attempts to barricade it by closing the windows and using a couch to block the door. After a hand attempts to grab him, Teen begins to warn Agatha and runs down to the basement. Seeing the door to the Witches' Road open, Teen runs down the steps in a hurry, followed by the other witches.

After reaching the end of the steps, they arrive at a path in a forest. Recognizing this as the beginning of the Witches' Road, they take off their shoes and begin their journey.

As the coven walks down the road, Jennifer asks how they would complete the challenges without powers. Teen responds by telling them they can use witchcraft, a manual type of magic. Jennifer, still confused about who Teen is, asks him his name. Teen responds, though once again his voice is muffled, and the sigil appears over his mouth. This surprises the witches, who immediately look at Agatha, though she denies doing it. After this, the covens discover that had Sharon walked off, though Alice is able to find and rescue her. Looking into the distance, the coven notices a house surrounded by bright light and they head toward it.

A lot happened to me at thirteen too.

Teen with the coven.

Inside the house, Teen, along with the rest of the witches, are given new attire that matches the theme the road presents them. As the coven looks around the house, Teen finds an envelope over a fireplace containing a riddle. After briefly trying to figure it out, Sharon discovers wine and glasses on a stand, solving the riddle. Teen looks for a corkscrew to open the bottle and is followed by Jennifer, who warns him to be wary of Agatha and she reveals to him that she had traded her child, Nicholas Scratch for the Darkhold. Before the coven drinks the wine, Teen asks to have some, though he is declined, as he is underage.

As Teen sits on the sofa, he asks Alice about the tattoo on her left arm. Alice opens up to him, saying she got it at thirteen, and Teen responds that a lot had happened to him at that age as well. After drinking the wine, Jennifer discovers that they have been poisoned by Alewife's Revenge. Teen notices that Agatha did not drink her serving of wine and she refuses to do so. This causes Teen to reach for the glass to drink it himself, though Agatha caves in and downs it.

The poison's symptoms progress and Jennifer lists the ingredients needed for the remedy. Teen and Alice are tasked with looking for frankincense. After Teen gathers the frankincense, he notices Alice on the floor, trying to escape from a room. He helps her up and asks her if she is okay, and they head back to the kitchen.

Brewing the potion, Jennifer wonders how to boil the potion from the sink, though Teen finds a sous vide to do so, saying his father often used it. Jennifer then instructs him to stir the potion counterclockwise. Despite this, the potion's color is incorrect, and after Agatha talks to Jennifer, she remembers that the potion needs the blood of the unpoisoned. At this, Agatha takes a knife and cuts Teen's hand, his blood spilling into the potion. The timer then goes out, and an oven opens, providing an exit. At that moment, water starts to rush through the windows, and the coven rushes through the oven.

After landing down the slope, Teen examines Sharon and reveals that she has died and closes her eyes. At this, Agatha asks who Sharon was, to the shock of Teen and everyone else.

Following Sharon's death, Teen digs a grave for her, assisted by Alice. With the coven's Green Witch dead, a new one was required, and the witches began to perform the ritual to summon a new one, using a spell in Teen's self-written spell book. Moments after the spell was completed, a zombie-like figure began to rise from the ground. The coven starts to think they performed the spell wrong and looks at the creature in horror. When it looks up at them, it is revealed to be Rio. At this, Agatha storms off. Teen attempts to ask her about Rio, to no avail. After walking for some time, the coven comes up to a road leading to a '70s-inspired house. Before heading inside, Teen notes that there is a waxing moon on the door, which is its fire phase.

Inside, Teen's attire once again matches the house. As the rest of the coven checks out their clothes, Teen looks for a clue to start the trial. Finding a paper that says "play me", Teen puts a record on a vinyl player. However, this causes a loud scratching noise, which is a song playing backward. Agatha then comes up to a machine and breaks it, stopping the noise. After this, Lilia and Jennifer's bodies begin to burn, though they are cured by Alice. Teen notices that Jennifer's shoulders have burned scars on them. Suddenly, Teen is lifted in the air and thrown into the sound booth, though he is seemingly unaffected by this.

In the main area, after finding out that the song playing backward was Lorna Wu's version of "Ballad of the Witches' Road", Agatha says that they would have to play it, though Alice is unconvinced and says that she will not perform the song. However, it is revealed that Lorna's version is a protection spell that protects Alice from her family's curse. The coven proceeds to play the song, with Teen playing the guitar, saying that he has some experience. As he is playing, he notices that a piece of the glass of the window he was thrown into lodged in his stomach. After finishing the song, Alice is freed from her curse, and while congratulating the coven, Teen collapses from the blood loss caused by the shard. Teen is hurriedly lifted into the exit that appeared in Alice's piano, and he is able to be cured by Jennifer, to the relief of Agatha.

Teen later wakes up with Agatha sitting by him. He asks her if she put the sigil on him, though she says that she would not know, as the caster of the spell forgets doing so. Teen then asks her about her son, though Agatha's mood changes and she walks off.

Following the trial, the coven rests in the clearing. In the middle of the night, Lilia wakes up after seeing a vision of the Salem Seven on the road. Hearing their shrieking, the coven runs off, and while looking for a way to escape, Teen suggests a hexenbexen, a spell used to fly on brooms. Most of the coven strongly disagrees with the idea, however, hearing the Salem Seven's screeches in the distance, they change their mind. While the witches exchange brooms, Alice hands Teen one and he is shocked that he gets one as well, as he does not consider himself a true member of the coven. Looking for one to give to Alice, he notices an owl. Just then, the Salem Seven ambushes the coven, with one of them jumping on top of Teen. Alice knocks her off with the broom, and they rush to finish the ritual that will make the brooms able to fly. Finishing it, they take flight.

As they are flying, the road senses them and forcibly brings them back down to the path, where the third trial awaits them, in the guise of an 80s-inspired house. While inside, Teen searches for his spell book and realizes it most likely fell while he was on the broom. Shortly after, a board game flies off a shelf. Teen picks it up, revealing it to be an Ouija Board. A timer on the watches the coven was given begin to go off, starting the trial. As the coven gathers around the board, Teen reads the rules, and they begin. As they play, they find out that the spirit contacting them is Mrs. Hart, who uses Agatha's body as a host. However, as she keeps talking, it is revealed that Agatha was purposefully pretending to be Mrs. Hart. She is scolded for wasting their time, and they continue. Next, the Ouija Board reveals that they are talking to Death. Death says that they want to punish Agatha, and she takes her hands off the board, causing a loud shrieking to start, and Teen asks for it to stop. Jennifer exclaims that the only way to pass the trial would be to punish Agatha, though Teen defends her. Just then, the lights go out. Teen turns on a lamp and shines it towards the roof, where he discovers that Agatha has turned into an Exorcist-like demon. Agatha chases Teen into a corner, though she is distracted by Jennifer. However, Agatha soon disappears after Lilia turns the lights back on, and in her place, the ghost of Evanora Harkness appears. Teen asks her what she wants, and she replies by saying that they must finish the road and leave Agatha with her. Evanora then begins to control Agatha's body again, though Alice tries to save her with her powers. After forcing Evanora out of her body, Teen helplessly watches as Agatha takes Alice's power. Teen notices the Ouija Board moving by itself in the distance and reads the name being spelled: Nicholas Scratch. Teen yells the name, completing the trial at the last second and causing Agatha to stop attacking Alice. Teen runs toward Alice, desperately trying to get her to wake up. Agatha comes toward her body, but Teen yells at her, and Lilia and Jen declare that she is dead

Is this what it is like to be a witch? Killing people for your own agenda? No. Not for me.

Agatha All Along - 1x05 - Darkest Hour - Wake Thy Power - Wiccan Revealed

Teen is revealed to be Billy Kaplan.

Outside, Teen confronts Agatha and questions what a witch truly is, and Agatha tells him that he is like his mother, thus revealing "Teen"'s true identity: Billy Kaplan, the reincarnated physical form of Billy Maximoff, Wanda and Vision's son. Billy watches as Agatha walks away and taunts him. Angered, his hand begins to glow with blue magic, and using it, he is able to control the will of Lilia and Jennifer. Controlling them, they throw Agatha into the nearby mud, where she sinks, begging for help, but Billy watches on as she goes under. Then, he uses his powers to throw both Lilia and Jennifer, who meet the same fate as Agatha. Billy watches them submerge, a crown similar to Wanda's appearing on his forehead. After the reveal, Billy threatens Agatha who realises that Billy is looking for Tommy and after Agatha starts to walk away, Billy states that he is not that nice. Angered, Billy slowly follows Agatha as they continue.

Am I William or am I Billy?
That's a very good question.

Billy and Agatha reach the castle.

Billy and Agatha continue their walk down the road when they reach a castle. They go inside to await the trial and their outfits change to Maleficent for Billy and the Wicked Witch of the West for Agatha. Since Lila and Jenifer are still off the road, Billy and Agatha start the next trial by themselves which feature tarot cards but they keep failing which causes swards to fall from the ceiling. As the trial continues, Jennifer and Lila eventually find themselves in the castle and Billy is greeted by Lilia who angrily grabs in for throwing her and Jennifer off the road. Billy apologises saying he didn't know he could do that and doesn't fully understand his powers. As the trial continues, Lilia gets Billy to ask her a question as she reads out the tarot cards. Billy asks if he is either William Kaplan or Billy Maximoff, but Lilia doesn't actually answer him but is impressed with him asking a good question. As the trial comes to an end, the Salem Seven come to attack so Lilia gets Billy, Jennifer, and Agatha to leave while she deals with them. Billy protests as to why she isn't coming with them while Lilia closes the door to the exit while she kills the Salem Seven, which results in her death.

Agatha All Along - 1x08 - Follow Me My Friend - To Glory at the End - Wiccan Transfers Power

Wiccan gives Agatha some of his power to defeat Death.

As Billy, Agatha and Jennifer keep walking, they come to the end of the road, where they find it is one big loop and then suddenly find themselves in some form of Agatha's basement. Billy finds out Agatha was the one who bound Jennifer's powers and she escapes while Billy and Agatha are left alone. The trial starts and Agatha helps Billy control his powers so he can locate Tommy. With his mind, Billy realises a teenage boy is dying from drowning and Billy is able to transfer Tommy's soul into the body. However, Billy becomes panicky that he might be the one causing the death of this teenager so he can find his brother, when it is really a failed prank between teenagers. Billy is able to leave while Agatha is forced to stay. Billy then returns to the outside of Agatha's house, now in a new costume, and saves her from being attacked by Rio/Death. He allows Agatha to take some of his magic as long as it is not all and she absorbs it. Billy is then able to talk to Agatha through her mind, something he couldn't do before and manages to ask Agatha if this is how her son Nicky die. This convinces Agatha to sacrifice herself instead of Billy as Rio is demanding to take someone's body. As Agatha dies from kissing Rio, Billy watches on as her body falls to the ground and under it. After Agatha's death, Wiccan is given permission to leave by Rio. Billy leaves Westview now the battle is over and returns home to his parents, Rebecca and Jeff Kaplan, who tell him he has gone a full 24 hours. Jeff and Rebecca want to know where Billy has been and what he has been doing for that long, although it's unknown what he tells them. Billy then goes into his room and realises the things in there are the same as what he and the witches saw on the road. As Billy looks more into the items, he is suddenly greeted by a ghost form of Agatha, much to his horror.

If I created the road, that means I killed them. My mind killed them.

Agatha All Along - 1x09 - Maiden Mother Crone - Billy & Ghost Agatha

Billy and ghost Agatha start their search for Tommy.

Agatha reveals that the road was never real and that it was indeed created by Billy. Billy begins to panic as he realizes, by creating the road, he accidentally caused the deaths of Sharon, Alice and Lilia. Agatha assures him that technically, she killed Alice,, Sharon's death was accidental, Lilia chose to sacrifice herself to save them from the Salem Seven, and Billy actually saved a life, as Jennifer Kale survived the road, instead of being killed by Agatha herself. Billy then goes back to Westview with Agatha's ghost following him and he tries to find Agatha's locket, intent on using it to cast a spell banishing her to the afterlife. Agatha begs him not to, as she can not bare to face her son and have him see what she became. Ultimately, Billy agrees with work together to find Tommy, but before they do, Billy seals the entrance to the road, with an epitaph tribute to their fallen Coven members. Together, Billy and Agatha start their adventure on finding Tommy Maximoff.

Trivia[]

  • Billy and Tommy are twins, like their mother and uncle.
  • Billy is a telepath, a power he shares with his mother Wanda.
  • The Halloween costume Billy wears in episode 6 of WandaVision is based on his comic book counterpart's main outfit. Billy's reincarnated form, William Kaplan finally wears the comic book accurate costume in the Agatha All Along episode "Follow Me My Friend / To Glory at the End", when he debuts as Wiccan.
  • Wiccan's actor, Joe Locke, said he would like the character to work with Doctor Strange in a future project.[3]
  • Billy's outfit starts out blue and then slowly turns red after he is injured. It has been described that the blood being healed by Jennifer Kale meant that his outfit turned red because of the blood magically spreading through the garment. Wiccan's superhero outfit and cape also have details, such as a galaxy print that was featured in his comic book counterpart's suit. The ruins on the arms are the same ones used in WandaVision, and they are featured in his sweater and then onto his Wiccan costume. The cape attached to the costume is based on Vision's cape and there is a bit of Vision's cape on the inside of Wiccan's cape.[4]
  • Billy Maximoff/William Kaplan is the first openly gay male character in the MCU, and the first to have an on-screen kiss with another male character.
  • In the comics, Wiccan's boyfriend is named Teddy instead of Eddie.
  • Billy is also one of 3 LGBTQ+ characters to appear in one MCU project, after Rio Vidal/Death and Agatha Harkness. All 3 characters appeared in Agatha All Along.
  • In the comics, the name Wiccan was given to William Kaplan instead of Billy Maximoff, who had access to Billy Maximoff's powers when Billy Maximoff's soul was reincarnated into his body. However Jac Schaeffer thought that was too complicated so wanted to simplify the backstory for Agatha All Along, therefore decided to have William Kaplan die instead of Billy Maximoff and swap their stories around, so that Billy Maximoff could take over William Kaplan's body instead of William taking over Billy's, allowing Maximoff to live as Kaplan and become known as Wiccan.[5][6]
  • Wiccan is the first person whom Agatha took power from but didn't die. This is because Agatha kept her word and didn't take all of Billy's power, but just enough to fight Lady Death.
  • Ironically, Wiccan's teenage actor, Joe Locke, shares his middle name of William with Billy Maximoff, who's full name is William Maximoff.
  • Joe Locke has said that Wiccan is both Billy Maximoff and William Kaplan, rather than just one or the other.[7]
