Summary[]

Trivia[]

  • The Rashomon-style depictions of how Mickey and his friends recall the phone call show different perspectives of the events:
    • Mickey: A straightforward scenario where Mickey is optimistic and determined about making sure their summer fireworks spectacular, Minnie mentioning of bringing the goodies, and Donald asking about what the others should do. When Mickey brings up on not being late, Goofy reiterates this to Daisy's notable annoyance.
    • Minnie: Almost the same as Mickey, except she brings up a list of stuff she's bringing to others' cluelessness or ignorance (as shown by others' recallings) and that she told others to be on time. Also, Mickey is extremely nervous in the flashback.
    • Daisy: Almost similar to Mickey, except she sees the admonitions of being on time as being directed specifically at her (as shown with her mild annoyance in the previous flashbacks regarding this). She's also the one to ask of what the others should do instead of Donald.
    • Donald: Already skeptical with Mickey's plan, he remembers Mickey being a defeatist than an optimist. He also pictures others differently, with Minnie being a cheery Mickey-loving airhead, Goofy being a simpleton and Daisy being fabulous.
    • Goofy: Just recalls others babbling incoherently with derpy faces. He also follows his "on time" statement with how he is going to bring the summer fun for the five.
  • Each flashback depicts a fatal flaw with the five's planning and actions:
    • Mickey: His desire to uphold a promise that is clearly too strict and not feasible within his capabilities.
    • Minnie: Her over-preparation and trying to handle more things than she can handle as well as how she over-informs others more than they can remember.
    • Daisy: Her desire to be just in time just to avoid being called out for being late and having awkward moments of being early.
    • Donald: His sheer skepticism with Mickey's plan that fuels his pride on how his way would be better despite not doing any of it better than how others did theirs. He's also the least accountable regarding his own actions, being the most adamant that the chaos wasn't his fault (except for wrecking Daisy's car, which he reluctantly admits to).
    • Goofy: His usual idiocy of doing stuff without proper expertise regarding it. Surprisingly enough, he is the only one who doesn't try to push away any blame and is in fact optimistic to tell his side of the story.
  • Aside from Mickey, there are hints on which transport each friend uses that are involved in the chase at the beginning:
    • Minnie: The way she lists the stuff she is bringing implies she is going to bring a lot of stuff, which matches the horse-masked person paddling on a car that carries a pile of stuff with a bread. Plus, the person wears white gloves and has black body, which matches Minnie.
    • Daisy: During her story, she goes for any reachable vehicle, even a dump truck, with sheer desperation. This hints how she would be willing to hijack Scrooge's private yacht.
    • Donald: Donald mentions how he is going to the Annual Summer Fireworks Spectacular no matter what, implying that he is going to use a really wild method. Immediately after that statement, a box of helicopter parts is shown later.
    • Goofy: After Goofy closes his call, he mentions about bringing summer fun. The jet skis shown in the beginning would fit that description. Not to mention, their part in the intro would be the last to be explained by that point.
  • Throughout the entire special, the Sun doesn't come to life like it usually does per usual in the series.
  • Pluto makes a flashback cameo at Mickey’s party as a magician.
    • This is his only appearance in the specials as of yet.
  • Unlike the other specials, this is a full story special instead of a three part story. Also, there is no narrator.
  • Unlike the other specials, Pluto appears in this one.
  • This marks the first How to narrator in the Mickey Mouse shorts series.
  • Donald claims that he can fly since he is a duck, which he doesn’t remember that he’s an anthropomorphic.
  • The song from the Mickey Mouse short Yodelberg is sung by two ice climbers in Minnie's story.
  • The crab from Hawaiian Holiday appears in the credits.
  • Daisy is shown in a picture board in her pink bikini and sandals in Donald’s story.
  • Minnie and Daisy are shown gaining huge muscles on their arms and legs.
  • This special was originally set to air on the same day as the Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers film. However, it was delayed to sometime later in the Summer.
  • Chuuby from Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway makes his in-series debut.
  • This marks Scrooge McDuck's first appearance in The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse. This is also the fifth time that John Kassir voiced him since the death of Scrooge's previous voice actor, Alan Young.
  • In a scene cut for time, the Country Bears, Chip and Dale, Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox appear during a quick montage in Donald's story. [1]
  • The narrator of the trailer notes that "Summer will never be the same again".
