Shy Albert is a character from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at the Disney Parks.
History[]
Background[]
Nothing is known about Albert's early life. After he grew old, he joined the pirate crew of the 'Wicked Wench. He participated in the Pirate Captain's raid on the Spanish island of Isla Tesoro. The pirates successfully invaded the island and captured the main settlement, Puerto Dorado.
After the battle, while Albert's pirate colleagues wandered around the town, searching for treasure and chasing pretty women, Albert himself was chased by one of them.
Development History[]
Shy Albert is one of the characters created for the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction which first opened at Disneyland in 1967. He was displayed in the Isla Tesoro scene with the other pirates and has remained in this area ever since.
Due to the success of the attraction at Disneyland, the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction was later constructed at Magic Kingdom, still featuring Albert in it.
Appearances[]
Pirates of the Caribbean[]
In the original Disneyland version of the attraction, Albert is seen during the chase scene were the pirates would chase women. But instead, he was being chased by a woman.
Trivia[]
- A pirate can be seen chased by a woman around the Faithful Bride tavern in a deleted scene from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, most likely intended as a reference to Albert's vignette in the ride.
