"Gus and Misdemeanors" is the first segment of the forty-second episode of Recess.
Synopsis[]
The bad kids from "The Girl Was Trouble" trick Gus into shoplifting candy from Kelso's.
Plot[]
Gus is showing off his new bug to the Gang and the other kids when the bad kids, consisting of Greg Skeens, Conrad Mundy and Lazy Kid, decide to pull a prank by tossing some rotten food in his vicinity. After Gus goes to wash himself off, the bad kids tell Gus of a secret creek that they go to all the time and invite him as long as he does not tell anyone else and that he meet them at Kelso's to get candy. When Gus arrives, he learns that the bad kids do not have money and order him to steal some Beanie McChimp gum from the store. He reluctantly does so and is nearly caught by Kelso, but Gus manages to talk his way out. Gus is soon severely disappointed to find that the "creek" is actually a sewer ditch and leaves disappointed.
Gus starts to feel guilty about the theft and is frightened that the authorities are out to get him. When he comes to school the next day, he is frightened away by the arrival of the police; they were there to promote public safety. T.J. senses that something is off and talks to Gus who tells him about a friend named "Russ" who stole something and does not know what to do. T.J. tells him that he should confess, even if it means that he will get in trouble. Gus goes back to Kelso's and tells him that he stole the gum and apologizes. Kelso commends Gus for being brave enough to admit to the theft and offers that he work for him for the month to pay off the gum, bonding it with ice cream. T.J. watches from outside and congratulates "Russ" for being honest.
