Wang Jiejie (王婕婕; wáng jié jié) is a character from the Chinese animated series Stitch & Ai, a spin-off of the Lilo & Stitch franchise. She is the older sister of the series' titular lead, Wang Ai Ling. She serves as this series' counterpart to Nani Pelekai.
Her given name literally means "older sister" in Mandarin Chinese, referring to her relation with Ai.
Personality[]
Jiejie is a lot like her original counterpart Nani, being a young woman who is forced to take care of her spirited little sister after their parents' deaths, but initially faces a threat of being forcibly separated from said litter sister. Jiejie cares a lot for her sister, much like Nani with Lilo. However, unlike with Nani trying her best to prevent Cobra Bubbles from taking Lilo away and putting her into foster care, Jiejie initially believed that her and Ai's aunt Daiyu was going to help Ai by taking her to live in the city to be redeveloped into a "proper lady", although Jiejie was clearly distraught when Daiyu stated to her in the first episode that she "cannot stand in [Ai's] way" and wouldn't be allowed to visit Ai in the city once the little girl moves out.
Jiejie also seems to be a pushover at first; she didn't stand up for Ai when Daiyu first arrives to pick Ai up, as Ai calls Jiejie out on. She does try to convince Daiyu to let Ai stay in the mountains in the following episode, but is unsuccessful when they walk into Ai's classroom to find it in a mess, not knowing about the fight between Ai's possessed teacher and Stitch that just finished by then. It took Stitch tricking Daiyu afterward for Ai to remain at her mountain home. Jiejie begins to be more assertive in "The Scroll", first when she finds Jumba and Pleakley tied up in her home with Ai missing and demands she be brought back, and then when they are about to take Stitch away after rescuing him from robots sent by the Jaboodies. In the latter moment, once Ai has a breakdown over the thought of losing Stitch, Jiejie argues to Jumba that Stitch cannot be taken away from Ai as the experiment gave Ai her happiness and life back. Jiejie's argument (and Stitch's own persuasion) convinces Jumba to let his experiment stay. Jiejie even helps Ai and Stitch by gaslighting Daiyu into thinking she's been getting delusions just when she was about to take Ai on a train to the city, with Ai and Stitch helping to sell the "delusion", getting Ai to stay home while Daiyu is taken by a doctor onto the train.
