Notes

  • Reprinted in JLA: The Greatest Stories Ever Told.
  • Twenty-five years after this issue was published, it was revealed in Identity Crisis that when the villains controlled the JLA members' bodies they discovered the heroes' secret identities, and subsequently, after the JLA defeated the villains, Zatanna erased the knowledge of the heroes' identities from their minds. This incident forms a crucial part of the backstory of Identity Crisis. (This is a retcon; in the original story, no mention is made of the villains discovering the heroes' identities. Nonetheless, it seems logical that if a villain took over a masked hero's body, he would take off his mask and look in a mirror!)
