Golden Horn King, also known as General Golden Trident, is an ancient demon and enemy of the Monkey King.

At some point Golden Horn King was imprisoned in a gourd. The Penguin freed him from the gourd, planning to use him to kill his enemies, but Golden Horn King instead possessed Penguin, transforming him into Golden Horn Penguin and giving him an immense hunger for the qi of humans.[1]

Golden Horn Penguin devoured the qi of his employees but could not satiate his hunger. Two demons came to him with a message from their master King Fire Bull, telling him he could only satisfy his hunger by devouring the soul of a hero.[2] Golden Horn Penguin took two scientists working for him hostage and released a video online challenging Batman to face him, saying he would kill them if he did not show up.[3]

The scientists he captured were the adoptive parents of Marcus Shugel-Shen, aka Monkey Prince, the "son" of his old enemy Sun Wukong. Monkey Prince, Batman and Robin responded to the video and tracked him to the Stahl Auction House where the Penguin first encountered Batman years ago. Golden Horn Penguin and the demons fought Batman and Robin and Golden Horn Penguin began to devour Batman's Qi, but Monkey Prince used a can of blessed soda to exorcise Golden Horn King from the Penguin's body. Batman arrested Penguin and the demons managed to get away with Golden Horn King, who had devoured enough qi to maintain a physical form and now sprouted two horns from his head like the ears on Batman's cowl. They took him through a Boom Tube to Flame Planet.[4]

King Fire Bull assaulted Lazarus Island, the base of his arch-enemy Nezha. Nezha managed to escaped and the volcano on the island erupted, spreading Lazarus Resin around the world. Golden Horn King was sent to recover Nezha from a stronghold in the Himalayas. He fought a band of heroes, including Supergirl and Blue Devil. He initially overwhelmed them with his Immortal Power of Fear, but Supergirl overcame the fear and buried him in an avalanche.[5]

Powers

Weaknesses

  • No Physical Body: (Formerly) Golden Horn King was initially trapped in spirit form, forcing him to possess a host to interact with the physical world.[1] However, he was able to assume physical form by absorbing some of Batman's qi.[4]
