Notes

• The Monster Dynamo was an electrical terror more powerful than even the atomic bomb, with an impregnable steel hull. It could fly and hover, was shielded with magnetic deflection, and could shoot artificial lightning in any direction.
  • This super weapon shot enough lightning to destroy several large buildings, in one of Europe's largest cities. Then deflected antiaircraft cannon shells ricocheted into the same city, shattering more buildings. And finally Von Ackheim leveled many entire blocks of buildings, across the city, in the form of a giant swastika, etched in bare smoldering dirt. Thousands or maybe tens of thousands of civilians are killed. Afterward this is never mentioned again.
  • A second Monster Dynamo attack is made, on Havre, with more toppled buildings and much destruction.
  • Eric von Ackheim, formerly Hitler's chief scientist, faked his own death in 1945, and returned in 1954, as "the Shocker."
  • Blackhawk mentions Professor DuBois and his Fiendish Electronic Brain, from Blackhawk #77, and attempts to deploy Dubois' device against the Monster Dynamo. This kind of attention to continuity was rare at Quality Comics.
  • Blackhawks had a headquarters in France, near Havre, per page 6 panel 4.
• Sea Monsters of Killer Shark
  • This is the fifth and last of Killer Shark's five appearances.^[1] Killer Shark and his crew are arrested alive, but will not return.
  • Blackhawk gets shot down, for the twentieth time.^[2]
  • Blackhawk survives his twentieth plane crash. Over the course of his long combat career, Blackhawk survived at least twenty-two aircraft crashes.^[3]
  • Chop Chop survives his fifth plane crash..^[4]
  • Being a Blackhawk is dangerous.
• Flying Flat-Top
  • Like the Monster Dynamo, earlier in this issue, the Flying Flat-Top has an anti-metallic magnetic field around itself, making conventional antiaircraft fire ineffective against it. But at least in this case the shells explode in mid-air, rather than ricocheting down into the town and exploding there.
  • Blackhawk gets shot in the shoulder. This is at least the eighth time he's been bullet-wounded.^[5]
