X, alternately stylized as , was created by Nekofinity, and serves as an unofficial reboot of the original Sonic.EXE, who is the main antagonist of a more grounded and expansive version of the JC's original canon.

Biography[]

X is a malicious entity residing within a ROM hack of the original Sonic the Hedgehog. He wields a ever present lust for power and destruction. He is extremely power-hungry and selfish, as he views much of the world as his plaything. He views humanity as especially fun, due to the fact that he can easily use them for his own purposes.

Some of X's most prominent traits is his sadism and obsession with theatrics, often taking things to extreme, and often unnecessary, degrees because of this. This doesn't always benefit him, though, as he tends to be rather overconfident, as he believes that nothing can truly stop him.

However, this doesn't get in the way of one of his greatest strengths: His skills at manipulation. He is able to tell a person's fears and desires with seemingly no difficulty at all, and is equally skilled at exploiting them to either further his agenda, or for his own personal pleasure.

Appearance[]

His "Base" form (his appearance in-game) is similar to that of the actual Sonic, but with empty eye sockets with glowing, red eyes, dark "fur" and pale flesh, rotten, human-like square teeth, and gray sneakers lacking the white stripes or gold buckles. Also unlike Sonic, his eyes split, his muzzle is noticeably longer, and has more protruding eyebrows.

His "Masquerade" form is him attempting to disguise himself as the real Sonic. As such, it is mostly identical to Sonic, except for the small, red dots are barely visible in his eyes.

His "Transitional" form is a mix between his masquerade and base forms, visible when he is changing from one to the other, as the name implies. His sclerae is darker in color and his red eyes are more noticeable. His muzzle and eyebrows are also slightly larger, more reminiscent of his base form.

His "Physical" form is how he appears outside of the game world. His body appears large and malnourished, closer to that of a human, and is entirely black. His "face" is vaguely reminiscent of his base form, but his eyes are sunken and much smaller, his muzzle is much longer and more animalistic, and has sharper, thinner, and more erect quills that protrude from his head in a star-like shape. He lacks quills on his back, a tail, and his hands are exposed, revealing long digits on each. His feet are also exposed, but lack digits. His physical form is quite vulnerable, his body even risking decomposition if he isn't careful due to its instability.

The Cult of X[]

The Cult of X is an organization dedicated to the worship of X. They are known for distributing the Sonic.EXE game itself, believing that exposing more people to X will encourage them to follow him. As of now, not much is known about them.

The Seven Guardians of X[]

The Seven Guardians of X are the figureheads of the Cult of X, and answer directly to X himself. Their real identities remain unknown. We have organized them from youngest to oldest.

Kirai is the one of the Seven Guardians of X, and embodies the concept of disgust.

Personality[]

Kirai usually tries to keep to himself as much as possible, and often only directly interacts with the other people when absolutely necessary. He holds heavy contempt for those outside of the Cult of X, however he is flexible enough to open up to newcomers, albeit slowly and cautiously.

Trivia[]

  • Kirai was born in Russia. As such, he speaks with a thick accent.
    • He also wears a thick cloak, as a way of remembering his youth.

Yokubo is the one of the Seven Guardians of X, and embodies the concept of desire.

Personality[]

Yokubo is often calm and reserved, and usually takes on a gentle persona. She is also incredibly manipulative, as she often uses this persona to convert outsiders with the promises of money and power, among other things. In private, she takes on a rather chaotic and unhinged persona, and often playfully teases her colleagues and makes obscene jokes.

Trivia[]

  • The other Guardians tend to make fun of her younger appearance, often claiming her to be around 20 years old.
  • She was born relatively poor.

Kofuku is the one of the Seven Guardians of X, and embodies the concept of joy.

Personality[]

Kofuku is incredibly energetic and cheerful, almost always appearing to be in a positive mood. He is one of the more publicly active Guardians, often setting up elaborate theater performances for the Cult of X at large. He is also the most unpredictable of the seven Guardians. In contrast to his friendly exterior, he is quite sadistic, and enjoys tormenting those who may oppose the Cult.

Trivia[]

  • He often wears a clown mask in his performances.
  • His chaotic antics usually get him into trouble with the other Guardians.

Aishu is the one of the Seven Guardians of X, and embodies the concept of despair.

Personality[]

Aishu often projects a quiet and calculating demeanor, normally addressing her colleagues and work solely on a professional level. However, she does occasionally open up towards Kyofu and Yokubo, holding a deep respect for them. Aishu is also sadistic, and incredibly skilled at psychological torture, attempting to probe her victims for their fears and desires, and exploiting them to their fullest extend.

Trivia[]

  • Before she began to worship X, she was once a marine biologist.

Gekido is the one of the Seven Guardians of X, and embodies the concept of rage.

Personality[]

Gekido, contrary to his label, presents himself as a reserved and gentlemanly authority figure. He is very self-controlled, rarely allowing his temper to show on most occasions. However, on the rare occasions where his temper peers out, he is incredibly violent, lashing out verbally and physically, at whatever, or whoever, might invoke that rage.

Trivia[]

  • Gekido is incredibly skilled with pyrotechnics. Some of the other Guardians occasionally call him a pyromaniac to poke fun at him.
  • Gekido is also known for his expensive tastes.

Kyofu is the one of the Seven Guardians of X, and embodies the concept of fear.

Personality[]

Kyofu projects a quiet, calm, and calculating personality, in contrast to his frightening appearance and sadistic personality. Kyofu is often considered the most dangerous of the seven Guardians, as he wields a fascination with fear, and is very knowledgeable in both psychology and biology, using that knowledge to torment his victims both physically and mentally.

Trivia[]

  • Kyofu has a certain level of respect for Aishu, likely due to their similar motifs

Kito is the one of the Seven Guardians of X, and embodies the concept of faith.

Personality[]

Kito is a calm, reserved, and pious individual. He is one of the few more public facing Guardians, as he is very openly supportive of both his colleagues and other cult members, being more than willing to aid in various spiritual matters. Much like the other Guardians, however, he is a master at manipulative tactics, able to easily deduce a person's grievances, and uses those grievances to try and convert them.

Trivia[]

  • Kito is the oldest of the seven Guardians
  • Despite not officially being their leader, the other Guardians often treat Kito as such.

Origins[]

His true origins are shrouded in mystery, and is often the subject to various interpretations. His activity up until the 1990's is also subject to heated debate.

Potential[]

  • Reality Bending: X is able to mold the game world into almost anything he desires. This also technically covers teleportation and telekinesis.
  • Mind Manipulation: X can "enter" a person's mind, and can even manifest himself within hallucinations or dreams. He often uses this ability to convince others to play his game, or otherwise do his bidding.
  • Invulnerability: Within the game world, X cannot truly be hurt by physical means. He can be injured, but it doesn't actually hurt him.
  • Superhuman Strength: Both in and outside of the game world, he is able to carry many times his own weight.

Trivia[]

  • His "fur" is not real fur; it's actually part of his flesh, and shares that same texture.
  • The above also applies to his gloves, socks, and sneakers.
  • Most information regarding the Cult of X has been withheld due to the creator not wanting to spoil any potential future projects regarding the canon.
    • It has been confirmed that Shannon Goldman does in fact exist in this iteration of the canon
      • However, The Father does not.
  • The Seven Guardians are actual humans in this particular iteration of the canon, as opposed to being creations of X in the original canon, and a handful of its other reiterations. They are the public leaders of the Cult of X.
  • The bodies of most people who played his game appeared heavily malnourished, have gray, cold skin, and lacked most distinguishable features, such as hair and eyeballs.
  • The letter X, in mathematics, is used to denote an independent variable or unknown number.
    • X is often used to represent unknowns in other circumstances (e.g. X-rays, Generation X, The X-Files, and The Man from Planet X).[1]
      • This is also how the character X was given his name, as much of his story and identity is unknown.
  • As well as being a sadist, X is also quite the masochist, and he isn't above mutilating himself just to get under a person's skin.
  • X's face in his physical form is actually a mask; his real head is entirely black, much like his body, and skull-like
  • X usually doesn't show his mouth in his Masquerade form.
    • This is due to his Masquerade form sharing the yellowed teeth of his base form, and showing them would potentially ruin the disguise.
