Story:[]

Chapter 1: prolouge[]

silver began his day like any other: being possessed by a demonic entity! Silver sat underneath a large palm tree in green hill, waiting for blaze to get back from checking on tails, when a strange fruit fell onto his head. Silver looked at the fruit, which unsettlingly resembled a heart. Something in silvers mind told him to stay away from it, but he was curious, and it didn't look like it could do much harm. Silver then made the worst mistake of his life. He took a bite.

Chapter 2: the princess[]

Blaze was confused. "Silver?" She called out, searching for her friend. Blaze shivered, as a strangely distorted but familiar laugh echoed around her. "Silver, come out, this isnt funny." She searched for several minuites, trying to find silver, but to no avail.

Eventually, blaze decided to ask around to see if anyone else had seen silver recently. It seemed like no one had, until blaze visited cream and vanilla. "Oh, blaze, what brings you here? " vanilla asked, opening her front door. Blaze hastily explained, and vanilla surprisingly had seen him. "Yes, he was here a few minuites ago, said you needed cream for something." Vanilla explained. Blaze looked confused. "But I didn't need cream, nor did I ask silver to fetch her. Did he say where they we're going? "

Half an hour later, blaze arrived at amy's house, following suspiciously silver-shaped footprints. "Hello, amy? Anybody home? " blaze called as she entered through the doorway, and saw the door smashed into pieces in front of her. The stairwell to the cellar (basement, for you non-british people) was open wide, and a strange blue glow flickered in the doorway. Sounds of muffled fighting came from below, but that wasn't unusual. Amy often left her tv on down there.

Then blaze heard the scream. It was the sound of cream, clearly in pain, and she heard amy yelling. Blaze leapt down the stairwell just in time to see the worst thing she would ever see in her life.

Chapter 3: the love interest[]

Amy swing her piko hammer at the thing that resembled silver, but it just stepped out the way.

"It is useless, foolish girl. You and the rabbit will die at my hands, and no one will hear your screams" said 'silver', as he plunged his hand into cream's chest, pulling out a mass of veins and flesh. Cream screamed a horrific scream, the life visibly leaving her body. Amy stared in shock, tears rolling down her cheeks, but her sorrow was interrupted as a purple cat princess burst into the room.

"Blaze, run! " Amy yelled out to her friend, but it was too late, 'silver' had seen her. He span round, throwing cream's body aside, and lunged at blaze. Blaze summoned fire to her palm, and slammed her hand into 'silver's' face. The air filled with the acrid smell of burning flesh, as 'silver' let out a guttural roar. Amy slammed her hammer into the side of the creature's head, and it was flung into a wall.

Amy and blaze stood side by side, supporting each other, staring at 'silver' and cream's lifeless corpse. Amy finally broke the silence. "What are we going to *cough* tell vanilla?" She asked, pointing towards cream, who was lying dead against the wall, blood smeared down it. "I don't know, mabye we just let the authorities deal with i- WHERE'S SILVER" blaze interrupted, pointing to where 'silver' had been. Amy clasped her hands to her mouth. "Oh no" Amy Whimpered, clutching closer to blaze. "ILL TELL YOU WHERE HE IS" said a voice, as 'silver' plunged a knife into each of the girls's stomachs, killing then both instantly.

"Now is my time to rule. " he said, before warping away from the 2 unconscious, slowly dying girls and the corpse.

Chapter 4: not fast enough.[]

Dr Ivo Robotnik sat in his over the top throne, contemplating his most recent loss to sonic the hedgehog, when he heard sirens. "Oh come on, the authorities can't have found me this quickly," he said to himself, peering out of the giant window in his base, which was a giant statue of his face. (The doctor was not a modest man) he saw an ambulance and several police cars swarm around any the hedgehogs house. "Ooh I hope she died, then sonic will be weak with grief and I could easily over power him! " the doctor thought, as he saw 2 shapes being lifted into an ambulance, the third into a seperate, smaller one they used for dead people.

Dr Robotnik was wondering what on earth had happened, when orbot and cubot came into his room. "Sire, we have found the news report of what has happened at the pink hedgehogs place of residence earlier today. " orbot said, projecting the channel 3 news onto the wall. A smart looking green wolf began to read the news "yesterday night, a small child named cream the rabbit was taken from her home under false pretences, and lured into the cellar of one of her carers, any rose, famous ex-leader of the restoration, and supposed girlfriend of legendary hero sonic the hedgehog. Another girl by the name of blaze the cat stumbled across this whilst looking for silver the hedgehog, her boyfriend,(in this univers, silvaze is canon. Fight me, I can do what I want) and cream the rabbit. It seems that someone had killed cream by removing several organs, and was about to do so to amy, when blaze entered. The details of what happened next are unsure, but the other 2 girls were found with severe knife wounds. Ms blaze passed away in hospital shortly after discovery, but miss any rose survived, and is talking to detectives right now. Thank you for your time, and back to your regularly scheduled program."

Dr Robotnik stared in shock, ignoring the fact that 'wheel of fortune' had begun to play, wondering who on earth would have done this, when the alarms went off.

"Orbot, cubot, you were supposed to be on guard duty!" Robotnik yelled, slamming the 'reinforce doors' button. "But sire-" orbot began, before being slammed shut into a ball by an all too familiar hedgehog.

Sonic the hedgehog stood in front of Dr Robotnik, holding a drill wispon to the side of the doctors head. "Talk, eggman, " sonic said, tears rushing down his cheeks, " talk or you'll never talk again. " sonic said, pushing the wispon closer to Robotnik's head. Robotnik stammered, pointing shakily behind sonic to the dark grey figure with the palm shaped burn looking over them. "Sonic, I'll talk later, just carry me and run! " he yelled, throwing sonic the chaos emeralds. Sonic looked behind him to see the mangled silver covered in blood looming behind him. " oh sonic, don't give the doctor grief over what I did" silver said, smiling grotesquely. Sonic didn't hesitate to go super. He grabbed Robotnik, and began to run away, smashing through robotnik's window, and running down the side of the cliff.

Silver laughed. "This will be interesting! Ready or not, here I come! " he said, before charging down the hill towards sonic. Sonic smiled through his tears. " he'll never catch us!" He said, as silver caught them. Sonic, startled, dropped Robotnik, who scrabbled for his remote control. As sonic faced off against silver, Robotnik pressed a button to summon metal sonic to his location.

Just as silver managed to kill super sonic, by tearing him open, similar to cream, metal sonic slammed into silver, sending him flying away from the doctor, and sonic's corpse. Eggman was aghast. Not only had he just watched his arch-enemy die, but something inside him broke. He had formed a special bond with sonic recently, and the two were almost like frenemies now. Robotnik was about to flee, when he had a genius idea.

"Metal, open chest hatch!" He said, lifting up sonic's corpse, and carefully removing the now visible heart from his ribcage, and placing it inside metal sonic. As metal's chest hatch closed, his eyes turned from red to green, and a familiar, yet slightly robotic voice came out from metal, as he looked down at himself, as if seeing his body for the first time, and then looked at the corpse next to him. His corpse. He then saw doctor Robotnik, with blood and tools on him, smiling at sonic, who's soul was now inside metal sonic.

Robotnik explained to sonic what had happened, and it was best he stayed with him on the death egg for a whilst, to get used to his new body and powers, and to wait to reveal he was alive (ish) for a bit, to not alert silver that he had failed. Robotnik placed a hyper realistic version of his corpse next to sonics, so silver thought he had succeeded in killing them both.

Chapter 5: in memoriam[]

Shadow the hedgehog stood with tails, looking at the graves of sonic the hedgehog and doctor Ivo Robotnik. Tails was crying silently, his face twisted in agonized sorrow, mourning for his closest friend and rival inventor, who, even though was evil, did not deserve this fate. The funeral had been several hours ago, and everyone else had gone home except for shadow, who had stayed to watch over the mourning fox.

Shadow had his hand on tails's shoulder, occasionally murdering words of comfort. He knew the young fox would never be the same again, but mabye being there would slow the spiral into depression that comes after losing the one you love most. After all, shadow had been through it before, with the death of Maria and Gerald Robotnik, and didnt want tails to end up like him. For sonics sake. A few weeks before his 'death', sonic had made shadow promise that he would look after tails if anything happened, and shadow did not break promises unless very necessary.

Instead of flowers, tails placed a little stone chilli dog he'd carved next to the grave, which had the words "our hero" on it, before getting up, and walking away, shadow following him at a safe distance.

"Interesting." Silver muttered to himself, " i think I've found my next targets."

Chapter 6: fight and flight[]

4 months later...

Shadow sat atop the roof of tails's workshop, watching amy amuse tails by zooming around in circles in her new electric wheelchair. (silver had severed something inside her that rendered her legs useless.) He smiled, and bit into his chilli dog, thinking about sonic, watching from the afterlife, not knowing that Robotnik and sonic were watching them, but from a lot closer...

Aboard the invisible death egg, sonic stood, his eyes zoomed in on his friends down on mobius, wishing he could go down, and let them know he was alive, but alas, as the doctor said, mobius was safer if they believed sonic to be dead. Although the recent Dissapearances said otherwise.

"Thinking about returning, are you, sonic?" Robotnik said, calmly striding over to stand next to him. Sonic turned to the doctor, his metal surface shining with the light from the sun. Sonic laughed half-heartedly. "Yeah," he said, "also the fact I'll never be able to eat chilli dogs again. " Robotnik smiled. "Heh. Your life is completely ruined, and that's all you're thinking about? Classic sonic." The two had become good friends know the past few months sonic had been living on the death egg, and if all this ended, they would probably stay friends. Sonics thoughts were interrupted, as the scene down below changed from fun to frightening, as silver burst out from a bush and charged at amy, aiming to finish the job. Shadow yelled, and threw a doom spear at silver, spearing silvers left eye. Silver let out a guttural roar, but shadow and tails didn't hesitate. Tails rode the tornado out of the garage, and he and shadow heaved amy into the special wheelchair section they'd added for her, and shadow pulled out all 7 chaos emeralds, and went super form. Tails took off, and shadow flew along behind them. He turned to check on silver, and saw him flying towards them, levitating a rock in the air. Shadow yelled, and threw more doom spears at him, his doom wings bursting from his back as silver took the chaos power straight from him. Tails span round.

"Shadow! You're not super anymore, be Careful!" Tails yelled, as he pressed a button to activate the tornados battle mode. Shadow threw more and more doom spears, but silver deflected them all, and threw the rock at the tornado. Shadow yelled out "CHAOS CONTROL" and time froze. He then kicked the rock as hard as he could, sending it hurtling back towards silver, as time unfroze just long enough for silver to say " oh Frick"

Silver was flung out of the air, but, as his last stand, he used his telelenises to throw shadow towards the engines of the tornado. shadow scrambled to grab a handhold to stop himself being pulled into the engines, but he couldnt grab anything. Luckily, silvers aim had been off, so shadow smashed into the red metal casing of the engine, instead of the rapidly spinning blades. Unluckily, this knocked shadow out cold, and he was sent hurtling towards mobius.

"Hold on, amy!" Tails yelled, as he pulled the tornado into a dive. They shot down towards the ground, spiralling past shadow then pulling up into a straight flight. Shadow landed next to amy in the seat, and she gently clipped him into his seat belt. He was bleeding from many places, and had clearly broken a few bones, but the worst injury was the gaping crack in his head, so amy tore the sleeves off her white jacket and made a crude bandage for it, which seemed to slow the bleeding.

"Tails, you should land at central city hospital." Amy said, as the familiar skyline of the city came into view. Tails nodded, and slowly pitched down towards the landing pad of the hospital.

Chapter 7: the warrior[]

Knuckles the echidna sat atop the master emerald shrine, wondering whether anything interesting was going to happen, when silver fell out of the sky. Knuckles was thrown backwards, away from the emerald, as a great big cloud of dust slammed into him from the impact of silver landing in the sand nearby. Knuckles coughed violently, trying to clear the dust from his eyes, when silver appeared. Knuckles thought to himself; 'did silver always have that much red on him?' Knuckles's thoughts are distracted when he noticed the massive x-shaped gash on silver's chest.

"O-oh my Lord silver what happened?" Knuckles asked him, as silver coughed up a lungfull of blood. " knuckles, I don't feel too good..." He began, as knuckles leaned over him, trying to help him up. Silver fell and spun round so he was directly in front of knuckles, his eyes squeezed shut.

"Silver, pal, you good?" Knuckles asked, shaking silver violently. Silver coughed violently. "Oh,knuckles, I'm not doing too well, but you could change that." Silver said, opening his eyes to reveal black scalera and red irises. Knuckles leapt back, shocked. Pushing silver away from him and the emerald. Silver smiled. "Whats wrong, knux? Hedgehog got your tongue?" He taunted, before ripping knuckles's lower jaw and tongue off. Knuckles tried to scream but all that came out was a strangled gurgle.

Silver laughed as he burnt knuckles's jaw to ashes, and removed the master emerald from its shrine. Knuckles flipped silver off faintly as he flew away, leaving angel Island to plummet into the sea along with it's failure of a guardian. With this new power, he would be able to finish what he'd started a lot faster.

Meanwhilst,Amy , rouge, Omega and tails sat around shadow's hospital bed, talking about why silver might be doing this. The obvious answer was that he'd simply gone insane after blaze's death (no-one knew he was the one who killed her, except Amy, who had gotten selective amnesia after the incident, and forgotten what had happened that day) or that he had been possesed. No one really believed that one, even though it was actually the truth.

Chapter 8: return to mobius.[]

Dr Ivo Robotnik sat next to sonic aboard the death egg, contemplating whether to return to mobius. Sonic, whilst being the one who yearned to return the most, actually decided they should wait until they needed to kill the silver-like being before returning, as they should only return when the world needed them most. Robotnik had reluctantly agreed, but he kept having to send shuttles of badniks to check on his other labs, because orbot and cubot were still damaged from silver's attack on the lab in windmill village, (where sonic and his friends live in this story) and hadn't been able to access the camras for a whilst.

Sonic had just got out a pack of playing cards and dealt to himself, orbot, cubot, and Robotnik, when a news alert popped up on the tv. The master emerald had been stolen and it's gardian had been found mangled and dead in the waters nearby. Sonic found himself wanting to cry, as he saw the photograph of knuckles's body lying disfigured in a casket. Sonic felt angry. He needed to stop silver. Now.

Robotnik seemed to be thinking the same thing, because he opened the door to an escape shuttle. "Sonic, I do believe it is time we return to the world below." He said, gesturing to the seat beside him. Sonic entered, and closed the door on his way in. Soon, the vibration of the pod shook sonic's vision as the pod shot down towards mobius.

The pod crashed into the remains of an old Robotnik base, and the pair began their journey to reunite with sonic's friends, Dr Robotnik sitting astride sonic's shoulders.

Sonic and the doctor travelled onwards for what seemed like hours, but sonic, being a robot, never tired. Robotnik made several attempts to engage in conversation, but sonic would only manage the odd reply, too focused in scanning for signs of life.

Some hours into the search, they saw the sun begin to rise above the horizon, and sonic stopped. "Yo eggman, you should hide during the day, everyone thinks you're dead. I can go and search, and I'll alert you if I find anything worth noting." Robotnik sighed, but reluctantly agreed, and hid in the secure bunker of sonics old house, as no one but sonic (and now Robotnik) knew the code.

Sonic left the doctor around 5am, and sure enough, people were already up and out of their homes, on early morning runs, or heading to work. Sonic got several odd looks as he traversed the city, as many people knew that metal sonic 'used to' work for doctor Robotnik.

After some amount of time, sonic found himself outside tails's workshop. Noises came from inside, as he heard tails and amy talking about the recent occurrences. "Blaze, cream, sonic, and now knuckles... Tails I don't know if I can go on like this." Amy said, her sobs ringing out. Sonic looked in through the open window, watching tails silently comfort amy, trying not to cry himself. Sonic was about to leave, because he couldn't bear this anymore, when a tennis ball hit him in the head. "Ouch." He said, loud enough for tails and any to hear him. Sonic ducked down as they looked outside, but not fast enough.

Sonic crouched low as he heard tails muttering. "I could have sworn I just saw sonic, am I going crazy? - no don't answer that, sonics dead. Probably just another blue mobian." He so badly wanted to let tails know he had seen him, but would tails believe him? After all, Robotnik tried this sort of thing a lot. Sonic was mulling this over in his head, when he saw something entering tails's workshop. Something silver.

Chapter 9: the imitation.[]

Silver had entered tails:s workshop. It would only be a matter of time before tails and amy were but another pair of his victims. Sonic had had enough. Silver looked like his normal self, but a little bit battered. He pretended to limp in. "Tails," be began "somethings wrong with me, I think, I keep blacking out and waking up covered in blood, and I have huge gaps in my memories, what's going on?" Silver sounded very convincing, but sonic could see through his lies. Quite literally. Silver had a knife concealed in his boot in a position that meant he could easily draw and kill in a matter of seconds. Sonic couldn't let that happen.

Tails stared at silver, unable to tell if he was telling the truth. Tails severely hoped so, because that would mean silver hadn't done all these things consciously. (This was, in fact, true, but on this occasion it was the entity in control, not silver himself.) Tails saw a smirk flicker across silvers face, before he was flung away from tails by a blue blur. Sonic had activated his jet engines, proppeling himself into silver, throwing him backwards. Silver stood up, his form back into that of his evil self, and laughed. "Oh, does the robot want his turn at destroying me?" Silver mocked, and tails and amy just realised they had been saved by metal sonic. Sonic turned to them, his eyes green, not red. "Guys run!" He said, pulling silver towards him, and throwing the other hedgehog into a wall.

Silver stumbled to his feet, as sonic laughed, and an audio clip from home alone played through his speakers: " you guys give up, or are ya thirsty for more?" Silver laughed. "Now now, metal, since when did you have a sense of humour? Unless... You're not metal at all!" Silver said.

Amy whispered to tails. "Thats definitely metal sonic." She said, gesturing to his, well, metal-ness. Before she could ponder more, silver explained. "You're the real sonic, aren't you. Possesing metal's body, because he was the nearest vessel when I killed you." Silver said, and sonic agreed. "Yeah, that's right, now get away from my friends!" Sonic yelled, and roundhouse kicked silver in the gut. Silver coughed up a lot of blood, and glared at sonic, his eyes glowing red.

Tails and Amy sat there, listening to the whole conversation, tears of relief and fear were being shed, as the two rejoiced for sonic's safety, and worried about what this might mean. Silver, however, decided to end sonic once and for all. Sonic had other plans. Silver lunged, and sonic rolled to charge a Spindale as silver fell over him. Silver was flung head over heels into a wall, the cuts from sonic's steel quills bleeding faintly. Sonic stared down silver, his digital eyes lit with fury. (And l.e.d's.) He charged at silver, his sharp claws shining in the sunlight, preparing to kill his ex-bud once and for all.

Silver heard the noise before he saw it, the metal hand protruding from his chest, covered in blood. His blood. Silver yelled out, screaming about how sonic had ruined his plans, and how he would get him 'when he returned'. Then, silver the hedgehog finally fell silent, dead as a very, well, dead hedgehog.

Epilogue:[]

A year later...

Sonic sat with amy, tails and shadow on a park bench, watching them all eat ice cream, except shadow, who, as the ultimate lifeform, didn't need to eat. It had been a year since the killings, and a memorial had been made for all silver's victims in central city park.

Sonic still had no idea why silver had done this, but he was dead now, and that secret would never be revealed. Sonic sat, happy for one of the first times in forever. The master emerald had been returned to angel Island, which was now miraculously been restored to it's original position in the sky. Which was very fortunate, considering they were now all sat on the shrine's steps, having lunch with the new guardians of the master emerald: tangle and whisper.

All was well (sort of) once again on mobius, and sonic sat in peace, knowing that Dr Ivo Robotnik would cause no more trouble, having peacefully retired a few months earlier. He and sonic still maintained their frenemy rivalry, and all seemed well. Mobius was finally safe, and sonic the hedgehog could finally rest,knowing the world would never again call on sonic the hedgehog.
